#805175 The Funny Pages - Tickle Me Elbow - The Original

Nope, purely residential. We're two houses down from the town hall. yay. We've had a LOT of attention from the building and zoning departments... le sigh...

Well, there you are -- it's not horses attracting the flies, nor hidden food... . . .....you're two doors down from a bunch o' bureaucrats! <_<

The regular Altoids were definitely gluten-free. As was the other ingested material.

This is a hard issue to come to terms with, and that sucks. We can't just blow it away.

    OMG. . ......and from a MODERATOR.... .!

Did I hear someone summon the Goddess of Altoids? :P

GAAAHHH! Karen!!!  We only need to speaketh the word, and she appears!

I know what I said and I know what I meant.

HEY! :) More Dr. Suess!.. .. . . . .What are the chances that a single thread will feature TWO quotes from this literary genius?? .. ... ...um, I think...... ... .it's very close, anyway.... . . .. .. "I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful -- One hundred per cent".

Sorry, can't tie an elephant into the subject matter, here... . .. that ponytail looks nothing like anything pachyderm....... . . .. ... Carry on! Or....not.. . ... .. ....

There are no foolish questions. But ask no questions, and get no answers.

Hmm.. .. .and sometimes, the questions are complicated and the answers are quite simple.. . ... ..

At least, according to Dr. Suess.... B)

OMG.... .I have FINALLY figured all this out. It seems crushingly obvious to me, now -- how could we have laboured over this so long?

It's you, isn't it, Riceguy? Grew out your nails, threw on a feminine white T, affixed tied extensions to your hair, made certain that the lollipop was placed to exactly and completely obscure your obviously male face.....then set up your positioning to cast strange, illusionary shadows, to capitalize on the sun's colour- and shape-tweaking properties.... . . ..and then the master stroke -- throwing the what-is-that-strange-thing question to us all, seeing how befuzzled and pensive we become.....

Now it all make sense.. . .....

Like Clint Eastwood in High Plains Drifter?

Notsomuch. ... . ...I was more inspired by the countless '55 Chevys.. . . B) ....man, they were everywhere..... . .. pristine, whizzing by, sounding their great horns....like stepping back in time. In all the music surrounding us, as well -- from Nat King Cole to John Lennon...... .and everything encompassed in a curling haze of maraca beat and fine cigar smoke... . . ..yup, it all begs to be recorded. Hemingway knew this, and I do hope to return there someday to get things down on canvas as he did on notepaper, napkins, envelopes, chequebooks.. . .. . ..:)

Hehe "never noticed the thumbs"?!! That pic was taken just moments after your intently quantifying gaze left my hand, having been placed on your shoulder just a second before!

Pfffft never noticed.

 Well, Ptaummm......all this talk of yer feet, perhaps we should be lookin' at your toes.. . ...

#749416 Pres Obama

Posted by on 21 November 2011 - 05:12 AM

At least it brings some excitement to Canberra......

Don't get me wrong, I love Australia and absolutely loved the architecture in Canberra and the way the city was so perfectly planned and laid out. But Canberra was sooooooo quiet. The city was dead after 5:00 and on weekends.

boring? I am absolutely certain, Helpme, that you have NOT ever been to Ottawa.. . . .. . .. we make virtually every other capital city seem like Mardi Gras....

At 3.5% unemployment a lot of Aussies don't mind about the rest :D
oh and the Irish like it here at the moment.. infact lots of Europeans like it too. mmm and Canadian. More and more South Americans in town. Asia Pacific. Africa. Middle East. Not a lot of folk from Iceland yet but they will come.

It is such a long bloody trip for my family and me, and that's why we haven't been yet. One day we are coming Down Under -- I have vowed this! We have good friends just outside of Perth.
Just need to wait for an enormous tax return... . . .....or inheritance...........

One of the rules here is that you must respect other people.

That rule applies to identifiable persons who may not be members of the board. That includes President Barack Obama.

Whether you like him or not, this is not the place to judge him.

And hey, ya never know -- in all of the nightmarish challenges that have faced President Obama in the past three years, his skyrocketing stress level may have triggered the onslaught of an autoimmune attack and subsequent symptoms.... . .. he may well have dropped in here! .. . . .. ..IN FACT.........(((((eyes narrowing))))))........we all need to carefully reread diandliam's opening post to this thread.... . .....

....Does the wording, the tone.. . . . ...seem......somewhat........presidential?.....

Yup, methinks that diandliam is President Obama. Craftily feeling out his general popularity.. . .. ...quite brilliant, actually. Who would suspect a celiac forum member posting from Canberra? Yup.....gotta be him.

Another problem is that a lot of people visit the Australian capital and expect it to be big and busy like WashingtonDC, London, Beijing etc.

OMG... . . if anyone hits Ottawa with those kind of expectations.. . . ...gaaaaaaaahhh!

#729309 When The World Changed Forever

Posted by on 11 September 2011 - 04:34 AM

We had dinner out last evening with friends, one of whom is a firefighter. He knew one of the emergency response workers who perished at the site. I asked him about the huge ceremony that occurred yesterday at the firefighters memorial here in downtown Ottawa, and about the activities that will go on all day today. He spoke about it all, but quietly, with a tired, sad look in his eyes. Then he finally said, "I don't want to do this, every September 11th, anymore.... .. ... .just too much".....
So interesting to hear the feelings of him.

Hmmmm.... bit o' cheatin', here... . . ..

Patricia the Strip(per) - - Chris Deburgh

I bent the rules only because I wish to do more in this post than come up with a song....my alterior motive is a recruitment callout, of sorts -- the regular posters on here would fit beautifully into our Psilly Thread (Tickle Me Elbow) and our numbers of hilarious, contributing posters have dropped over the past while. We need new funny blood. So in between the typing out of songs, please come and join the laughter on the Longest Thread in c.com's history.
ANNNNNND, if you come in within the next couple of pages, it will be flipping over to 3,000 pages -- this type of monumental event promises raucous hilarity, pomp and circumstance.. ..... B)

Can someone "plus" Jess? Whenever I hit the plus on this iPad it reads it as minus. It reads minus as minus, too. My iPad has a very negative attitude.

Hey! I completely forgot about those li'l plus and minus things. . .. ... . . ...we award a "plus" to above-the-pale wittiness, or creativity, or retrieval skills in the case of this thread, then? . . ... . ... Man, youse should ALL be gettin' plussed..... . . . ..almost seven pages!
