#752182 Argh

I'm sorry, but it's hard to believe you got glutened simply wiping your nose on your sleeve or a gulp of water at work.

And any new folks, this simply in NOT something your average person with celiac has to worry about.

#752115 Gluten In Puritans Pride Vitamins

Posted by lovegrov on 30 November 2011 - 07:39 AM

Your post is quite confusing, at least to me. Was it the vitamins or the zinc that said it contains wheat? If it's the zinc, why does your title say there's wheat in the vitamins. If it's the vitamins, what does the zinc have to do with it?

Sorry, just trying to get it clearer.

#750846 Seafood - Iodine & Dh

Posted by lovegrov on 26 November 2011 - 07:04 AM

Seafood caused me no problems whatsoever, and I had DH for more than 20 years. Oysters are lower in iodine than many other things, including milk, and prawns are actually very low (shrimp is much higher).

Might be something psychological going on. You expected itching and you got it.

This one incident does not necessarily mean you are super sensitive.

You'll pretty much be safe with any turkey as long as it hasn't been stuffed.

Sounds like foodfacts isn't too reliable. As noted, SOME Doritos have gluten, but not from MSG or artificial color (never found gluten in artificial colors).

#741921 A Miracle?!? - Change In My Reaction To Gluten

Posted by lovegrov on 26 October 2011 - 05:45 AM

Even if a small percentage of people with celiac can go into remission, please note that even folks with no symptoms need monitoring. How often is tit that you want to have an endoscopy?

The true flu does not respond to antibiotics. It's a virus, not a bacteria.

#741306 Salami Covered In Flour?

Posted by lovegrov on 24 October 2011 - 05:23 AM

It sounds like to me Sorrow needs to talk to the maker of the salami. Until then, it's absolutely impossible for any of us to know what this substance is. Speculation won't solve it.

#740534 I Did It!

Glad you feel good AND that you took this step, but I hope you also learned that you HAVE to question everything. And the server absolutely must check with the kitchen. I don't like doing it, either, but it's necessary.

#739845 Thoughts?

Posted by lovegrov on 19 October 2011 - 05:38 AM

I know that doctors aren't always helpful, but if you haven't seen yours with these returning symptoms, you should. These are some serious symptoms that might not even be related to what you're eating.

#737541 Is The Barbecue Safe?

Posted by lovegrov on 10 October 2011 - 05:54 AM

It could be safe... just make sure your not allergic to hickory smoke.

I'm sorry, folks, but I mean, really? Don't we already have enough to fret about with celiac and CC and other food intolerances without bringing up some off-the-wall allergy?
