I have been searching for a gluten-free bread that tastes like real bread and I don't just tolerate. For nearly a year, I had given up and hadn't eaten any bread at all. Now, I can enjoy a piece of toast that I truly enjoy or a sandwich I love, not just tolerate!

This is by far our favorite gluten-free bread! We first encountered it in Germany at a boutique hotel which offered it to us as gluten-free bread. It was so good, I couldn't believe it was gluten-free. I asked what brand it was and was told Schar 'Landbrot' and they told me which store they bought it from. I promptly went to that store, and bought several. Once I returned to the US, Schar told me that it is relabeled as this 'deli style' bread. We are so happy to be able to buy it here in the U.S.!

After a few years trying to find a gluten-free bread that tasted good, I finally found this Schar brand, which IS very good. The deli bread is such a treat in making a sandwich, which is the one thing I missed so. I had given up on sandwiches before I discovered Schar. It's true it doesn't have to be toasted, as all other gluten-free brands of bread do, but I do toast it just a little. I think it makes it taste even better. Thanks Schar!!!

A gluten-free Reuben's best friend! The bread texture mimics rye bread used for a reuben sandwich and holds up to layers and layers of pastrami, sauerkraut, cheese and sauce. VERY expensive and a very unusual count of 5 slices, however, I will continue buying it for my daughter. Dr. Schar's products never let us down!

By far, this is the very best sandwich bread I have eaten since I was diagnosed with celiac disease. The taste is superb, no matter what condiment or sauce you place on it. The toast it makes is the best since I last had NY deli rye bread. I truly recommend it to everyone. If nothing else, try it just once.

The BEST BREAD EVER!! Schar deli style bread is amazing. Tastes just like regular bread, especailly when toasted. Soft, light and chewy with a crunchy crust. My son and I were so excited when we tasted this bread. It is his go to bread for lunches.

A fabulous deli style bread with lots of flavor, not gummy, dry, nor does it fall apart. These are large slices. One slice cut in half of this fairly thick bread makes an ample size sandwich (using one slice gives you double the sandwiches in one loaf). I have made Italian sub style sandwiches with oil and mayo and the bread holds the oil well with no soggy mess. A hot steak and pepper sandwich also held up perfectly, lightly toasted under toaster oven broiler to melt the cheese. Everyday cold sandwiches, (my favorite turkey, bacon, tomato, avocado) are fabulous! Pile on the tomatoes and lettuce without fear of it falling apart. Using additions make that one slice a large sandwich and cost effective!

I have tried every gluten-free bread on the market. Most are inedible, some are fair, a few are pretty good. The Schar's breads are all very good, but hands down this bread is my absolute favorite. This is not a rye bread, but it has the consistency of a good rye bread. It is great on its own and great toasted. There are 5 pieces per pack (strange number if you like a large sandwich). I am not a large eater so I can cut one in half for a smaller sized sandwich, but that may not work for most. I love it so I will keep buying it, but pretty pricey for 5 slices of bread. But since it is so fantastic, the price would never hold me back. As we are all aware, all gluten-free products are overpriced due to supply/demand. Maybe one day things will be more in line.

This is, by far, the best gluten-free bread I've ever tried. Only wish I could give the product more than 5 stars. Yes, it is a little pricey, but save it for that special reuben for dinner and you won't be disappointed. This bread tastes great. It is good toasted and untoasted. The bread is a little more dense and thicker sliced than others, but that is what I like about it. Coming from Europe, I grew up on hearty and dense breads. This is the closest to it that I have come across. Hope this helps.

I've tried the Deli Style bread three times just to be fair in my evaluation. It has a very good taste but is too dense. The bread is good when toasted and slathered with butter but very dry and difficult to swallow when using for a sandwich. The slices could be a little thinner with the density being so high.
