Schar Gluten Free Wheat Free Shortbread Cookies

Reviewed and edited by a celiac disease expert.
Schar Gluten Free Wheat Free Shortbread Cookies -

Schar has done it again with this delicious shortbread dessert cookie.  These cookies are made from corn flour, and are sweetened with both sugar and honey, but the sweetness is not overpowering.  They are crunchy and just the right size to satisfy any craving for the shortbread taste.  They are so good I almost forgot they were gluten-free!

I must confess that I did eat the whole bag in one sitting!  Schar is known for their dedicated gluten-free baking facility, so you never have to worry about cross-contamination.

I happen to love thin crust pizza. The other day I had the good fortune to get my hands on a 12” Venice Bakery Gluten-Free Pizza Crust, and it looked as if it was made exactly how I like it—uniformly thin  throughout the entire crust. I was impressed by how perfectly formed this pizza crust was, and I also like the fact that it was larger than most crusts I’ve tried—it was big enough for my family of four.
My family and I prepared the pizza together, and we added our favorite tomato sauce, cheese and gluten-free pizza toppings. We baked it in the oven as advised on the package for about 12-15 minutes at 475F, and the results of our minimal efforts were outstanding! The crust had excellent texture and tasted exactly how I expect great pizza to taste. My non-gluten-free family members ...

Celiac.com 08/31/2012 - I have always been a little unsure what to think of probiotics. My mother raised me to take acidophilus supplements religiously, but I could never find any evidence to suggest that the pills actually improved my health. After two weeks taking Vidazorb Super C Chewable Probiotics, I think I have my first substantial evidence that probiotics actually do something.
At first, I didn't notice much change, but about a week after I started taking the chewable tablets, I realized that it had been a while since I had suffered indigestion. Prior to this, at least a meal or two a week just wouldn't sit right in my stomach. I have no known allergies or sensitivities, and it didn't seem like I was responding to any particular ingredients, just every now and then, my stomach...

The first thing I really appreciated about this cookbook, besides the gorgeous photography, is the introductory section called “Ingredients Unveiled”.  Different types of flour, sweeteners, and oils are described and the nutritional benefits of each are also included.
I like a cookbook that teaches me about what I am putting into my body, rather than just providing me with a bunch of recipes.  Of course there are plenty of great recipes for everything from dips to desserts and they are all easy to make, dairy-free, and kosher. This is a great cookbook for any gluten-free kitchen.

Celiac.com 11/21/2014 - Some afternoons at work seem to go by slowly. The other day I decided to try a PureFit Nutrition Bar instead of my usual cup of coffee.  Since I love peanut butter and nuts, I figured it would be good...and it was!
This bar is chewy, sweet, and filling.  About 10 minutes after eating it, I felt more alert and had no desire to continue snacking.
I highly recommend these bars for their nutritional value and outstanding taste.  PureFit has a loyal customer base and for good reason – these bars are delicious!
