    Is Hellman's Mayo Gluten-Free?

    Wondering if Hellman's Mayonnaise if gluten-free and safe or people with celiac disease? Here's the rundown.

    Celiac.com 10/01/2021 - We get a lot of questions about which products and brands are gluten-free. We especially get a lot of questions about salad dressings and condiments. In this case, mayonnaise. Specifically, is Hellman's Mayonnaise gluten-free and safe for people with celiac disease?  

    The short answer is yes, Hellman's Mayonnaise is gluten-free and safe for people with celiac disease. In some cases, it's not immediately clear on the label, but the Unilever website notes that Hellman's Mayonnaise is gluten-free.

    Hellman's is also known as Best Foods Mayonnaise in some parts of the U.S. Both brands are part of the Unilever company. The mayonnaise is the same for both brands. So, this answer applies to both brands.

    Egg is the only allergen listed on the Hellman's Real Mayonnaise label

    A search for "gluten-free" on the Best Foods website shows nearly fifty products, including Hellman's and Best Foods mayonnaise.

    As always, check labels, and chooses carefully.

    The regular Hellmans mayo (but not the Olive Oil, nor Canola Oil versions) is also nightshade-free. Which has been quite a relief to find out!  Last I looked, the Hellmans Olive Oil based mayo is also gluten-free!

    Since 1835, Lea & Perrins has made their original Worcestershire sauce without gluten. The bottle is clearly marked as gluten-free, and the only allergen listed is fish: anchovies.
