    Celiac.com 07/08/2014 - Gluten-free tennis superstar Novak Djokovic won his second Wimbledon title by outlasting the Swiss player, and seven-time champion, Roger Federer in five sets last Sunday.
    Up 5-2 in the fourth set, Djokovic was unable to capitalize at match point, but held on for a 6-7 (7), 6-4, 7-6 (4), 5-7, 6-4 victory at Centre Court.
    The championship returns the 27-year-old Serb to the world’s No. 1 ranking. Djokovic has seen his fortune improve since moving to a gluten-free diet, and credits his subsequent successes on court to his diet and to his mental conditioning.
    The rivalry between Djokovic and Federer has remained evenly balanced over the years. The two have faced each other 35 times, with Federer leading 18–17.
    They have faced off in a record 12 Grand Slam matches, including two finals, and a record nine semifinals.
    The win marked Djokovic's seventh Grand Slam title, ending a streak of three consecutive losses in major finals, and in five of his past six.

    South Park Hits Comedy Gold with Gluten-free Ebola!
    Celiac.com 10/07/2014 - Never far from the intersection of irreverential humor, current events and controversy, Comedy Central's South Park is running the gluten-free gauntlet in its most recent episode, provocatively titled: Gluten-free Ebola.
    In addition to fever dreams of Aunt Jeminah and an upside-down food pyramid, the episode features confident riffs on second-hand gluten, a gluten-fueled Jekyll and Hyde, and gluten-burning townies fearing a gluten-free apocalypse caught up in battles between the FDA, the USDA.
    To mix metaphors, the episode manages to milk just about every facet of their gluten-free diamond for all it’s worth. When Mr. Mackey goes gluten free, he annoys everyone by preaching about how great he feels. But, when the citizens see the damage gluten can do to the human body, SOUTH PARK becomes the first town in America to go gluten free.

    Celiac.com 11/14/2014 - Jennifer Lopez is our latest celebrity to tout the benefits of a gluten-free diet. Lopez began a dairy- and gluten-free vegan diet in April, and says it helped her shed an unwanted 10 extra pounds.
    Jennifer recently began incorporating some fish and chicken back into her diet, but remains dairy-free. Sources close to Lopez say that her current diet emphasizes vegetables, with protein added as needed.
    Sources close to Lopez report that, even though she is no longer 100 percent vegan, she still follows a largely vegan diet because “…even if you’re 70-80 percent vegan, it’s so much better having those vegetables, greens, and plant-based stuff.”
    Lopez began her initial push after being inspired by the 22-day vegan diet “cleanse” undertaken by Beyonce and Jay-Z in December 2013.
    In addition to a healthy, largely vegetarian diet, Lopez maintains her age-defying physique with rigorous workouts. Following a training regimen developed by Tracy Anderson, Lopez is joining the ranks of celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham, and Kim Kardashian.
    The method includes work on muscular structure, in addition about a dozen different exercises that change every 10 days, along with dance aerobics.

    Gwyneth Paltrow Helps Stylist Go Gluten-free and Lose Weight
    Celiac.com 02/12/2015 - Gwyneth Paltrow is making gluten-free celebrity news again for helping her longtime stylist go gluten-free and drop some major weight.
    David Babaii is one of Hollywood's top hair stylists. In addition to Paltrow, his celebrity roster includes Kate Hudson, Scarlett Johansson, Christina Aguilera and Uma Thurman, among others.
    After working with Paltrow for about 10 years, the man Vogue-crowned the "king of curls" had ballooned to 285 pounds with a 44-inch waist. At just five feet five inches tall, he became compelled to lose weight.
    In a recent exclusive with Marc Malkin in eonline, Babaii opens up about how Paltrow and Equinox trainer Will Castillo helped him lose 135 pounds in just four months.
    Babaii says that Paltrow was very supportive, non-judgmental, and encouraging of his efforts. When Babaii asked Paltrow about gluten, he says she advised him not to do anything drastic, and to take it slowly.
    And, armed with determination and with Paltrow's support and encouragement, Babaii began his transformation in earnest.
    Of course, being a personal of Gwyneth Paltrow has its perks. In Babaii's case, whenever he was hungry or in need of support, he could "email her any time of the day and if she wasn't sleeping, she'd reply right away," he told Malkin. "She would say, 'Try this. I think you'll like it. It's not boring.'"
