    Celiac.com 06/01/2018 - Sharon Stone is gluten-free and glamorous. Even at 59, the veteran screen star manages to look great and keep landing new work. Stone is in the news recently, promoting her work in two new projects.

    Stone currently stars in Steven Soderbergh’s innovative murder mystery “Mosaic,” which began as an app and evolved into a full-blown HBO mini-series. She also stars in the romantic comedy “All I Wish,” which premiered at the end of March. 

    A recent article in the New York Times details Stone’s picks for makeup, hair and beauty products, along with some tips on diet and fitness. 

    Among her diet tips, the seasoned star shares the fact that she has celiac disease, so she eats gluten-free. She also avoids processed food, caffeine, and rarely drinks soda or alcohol.

    Do not be deceived.  Going gluten free is not going to make you glamorous. ?  

    Sharon Stone has had her issues like anyone else.  She suffered a brain aneurysm a few years ago and it took her two years to recover.  She has celiac disease, and from my quick google search, she may have Type 1 diabetes as well.  

    I applaude her ability to continue to get acting jobs and I attribute that to her skills and not her looks (though in Hollywood looks seem to be critical).  Aging baby boomers like myself, want to see more movies about us!

    What a disappointing comment!  I thought being gluten-free was going to make me glamorous eventually......  I wasn't sure how many years it would take.....  Maybe after the first five and still not glamorous I should have realized it wasn't happening?  ?

    Celiac.com 06/29/2011 - Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic credits an unbeaten string of victories on the court to his special, gluten-free diet.
    Meanwhile, Sabine Lisicki recently attributed her collapse on the threshold of a major upset over third seed Vera Zvonareva in the second round of the French Open to a need for her body to adjust to her new gluten-free diet; which Lisicki adopted after discovering she is intolerant to gluten, a protein in cereal grains.
    After physically crumbling within sight of victory, a sobbing Lisicki was carried from the court on a stretcher. The 21-year-old later explained on her website (www.sabinelisicki.com) that her collapse occurred because her body simply let her down. She said that "[d]octors recently discovered that I am intolerant to gluten -- meaning I can't eat e.g. pasta, one of my biggest energy sources."
    "My body needs to adjust to the big change and needs some time. It is good that we found out and it will only make life better in the long run, she added."
    Pasta and bread are still staple foods for many top athletes, as they are important sources of energy. Athletes on gluten-free diets need to find new energy sources.
    Djokovic has enjoyed a 39-match winning streak after changing his diet in late 2010, after tests by his nutritionist showed him to be gluten intolerant.
    Like Lisicki, Djokovic's body cannot process the carbohydrates he traditionally used to fuel his body, and he was forced to find alternative foods to provide the energy and stamina needed to prevail in long matches. For Djokovic, the change has paid off handsomely.
    "I have lost some weight but it's only helped me because my movement is much sharper now and I feel great physically," said an energized Djokovic, who has beaten Rafael Nadal in four finals this year.

    Celiac.com 08/07/2015 - Actor Michael Douglass is making gluten-free celebrity news with his recent disclosure to ITV's Lorraine Kelly that he is eating gluten-free, and that he views the diet is an important part of his post-cancer health regimen.
    The 70-year old Oscar-winning actor says he feels "great," and credits the gluten-free diet with boosting his memory and transforming his health five years after cancer battle.
    Douglass recommends the diet and says it has helped him recover and maintain his weight after dropping over 40 pounds in his battle with throat cancer.
    The American actor, who stars in the superhero film Ant-Man, set for release this week, also spoke with Kelly about his past battles with alcohol and his marriage to Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones.
    Douglass revealed that he views a gluten-free diet as a key factor in his improved health and well-being.
    The gluten-free diet has proven popular among celebrities and athletes, including Gwyneth Paltrow, 42, and this year's Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic, 28.

    Celiac.com 09/17/2015 - This week in gluten-free celebrity news, Kourtney Kardashian rocks an eye-popping Agent Provocature bikini as she frolics in the summer surf in St. Barts.
    Kourtney Kardashian was in St Barts earlier this month, showing off her killer post-baby curves while shooting scenes for Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
    According to UsWeekly, the fit mother of three has been eating only organic, gluten-free foods and doing strict portion control to return to her pre-pregnancy size.
    Meanwhile, Rosanna Davison is drawing heat for making claims that link gluten consumption to autism, arthritis and schizophrenia.
    Initially, the former Miss World posted that the had given up gluten after finding that it gave her a skin rash and upset her stomach. So far so good.
    But when she added that her husband had been healing from rheumatoid arthritis after ditching gluten, the internets erupted with their particular brand of instant fury.
    Arthritis Ireland tweeted that: no evidence to suggest that the serious auto-immune disease of #RA can be managed through a gluten-free diet.
    While RTE journalist Philip Boucher-Hayes called Davison's comments "dangerous nonsense…with real world implications for people's health and wallets."

    Celiac.com 09/30/2016 - This week in celebrity gluten-free news, Kourtney Kardashian has put her family on a gluten-free, dairy-free diet.
    The 37-year-old reality star explained on her website how she made the diet change after undergoing muscle testing, an alternative medicine technique that has been widely discredited by science and medical professionals. The reality star wrote: "I don't think everyone needs to eat this way, but we had muscle testing done, which showed we all have sensitivities to corn, gluten and dairy."
    Kourtney Kardashian says she has "noticed a great positive change in behavior" when her kids stick to a gluten- and dairy-free diet. She even offers her own personal tip for maintaining gluten-free harmony: Bring your own cupcakes to birthday parties, so gluten-free kids can still enjoy the food and fun.
    No word on whether sister Kim and her partner Kanye West or their kids will be joining the gluten-free push anytime soon.

    Potatoes are good for breakfast! Your concoction sounds pretty good. K, how about this? Peel & dice potatoes, fry them in just enough olive oil to keep them from sticking in a skillet until they begin getting crispy. Toss in diced sweet peppers or maybe chili peppers, onions to soften. I know you're not doing egg yolks b/c of iodine but you can do the whites. Pour egg white on top until the white is done. If you have a steak or some leftover steak, you can heat that on the side. YUM!

    Wow!  I can say thank you in Polish, but can not spell it.  This is a bit off topic, but I will post this here and then open a new topic.   A month or so ago, a guest commented on an article that Celiac.com had published.  The guest mentioned that she has been a celiac for decades, long before the gluten free craze.  She noticed that she is now getting more gluten exposures compared to the years when there were very few gluten free processed foods on the market.  Interesting.
