    Sloppy Joe's (Gluten-Free)

Reviewed and edited by a celiac disease expert.

This recipe comes to us from "mamaw" in the Open Original Shared Link.

    Ingredients:
    1 pound ground chuck
    1 cup chopped onion
    ½ cup chopped celery
    ½ cup chopped green pepper
    1 can tomato sauce
    ½ cup ketchup
    1 tablespoon brown sugar
    1 tablespoon mustard powder
    1 tablespoon gluten-free vinegar
    Salt & pepper

    Celiac.com Sponsor (A12):
    Directions:
Sauté onion, celery, green pepper in small amount of oil. Add ground meat & brown ( I usually cook until not much liquid is left). Stir in remaining ingredients & cook until the thickness you like. If it gets to thick just add water to make it thinner.

    Scott Adams

Scott Adams was diagnosed with celiac disease in 1994, and, due to the nearly total lack of information available at that time, was forced to become an expert on the disease in order to recover. In 1995 he launched the site that later became Celiac.com to help as many people as possible with celiac disease get diagnosed so they can begin to live happy, healthy gluten-free lives.  He is co-author of the book Cereal Killers, and founder and publisher of the (formerly paper) newsletter Journal of Gluten Sensitivity. In 1998 he founded The Gluten-Free Mall which he sold in 2014. Celiac.com does not sell any products, and is 100% advertiser supported.

    1 teaspoon salt
    1 small sweet onion, grated
    Add (using a mixer--NOT a blender):
    1/3 cup cider vinegar
    1 cup oil (very slowly)
    1 tablespoon celery seed (optional)
    ¼ to 1 cake gluten-free blue cheese
Make this dressing ahead and refrigerate. Pour dressing over shredded cabbage just before serving.

This recipe comes to us from “tarnalberry” in the Open Original Shared Link.
    Ingredients:
1 cup Lundberg Farms Wild Blend Rice (you can substitute brown rice, or your own mix of brown and wild rice, but this mix works best of the variations Ive tried so far, definitely do not do all white rice)
    1/3 cup arborio rice (risotto)
    3 medium carrots
    3 stalks celery
    1 medium onion
2/3 pound mushrooms (chanterelles are very good here, as are creminis (or portabellas), plain white wouldnt be the same)
    3 tablespoons olive oil
4 cups (or more) chicken or vegetable broth
2 teaspoons Italian spices (or ½ teaspoon each basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary)
    1 teaspoon salt
    ½ teaspoon ground sage
    ¼ teaspoon majoram
    pinch cumin (optional)
