Girl Scouts Debut Gluten-free Toffee-Tastic Cookie!

Reviewed and edited by a celiac disease expert.

Celiac.com 04/05/2016 - Girl Scouts USA Recently debuted "Trios," a gluten-free cookie now available at select Girl Scout Cookie booth locations. Gluten-free Trios are made with real peanut butter, chocolate chips and whole grain oats, and are going for $5 a package.

Image: CC--Mike LichtThat's not bad for gluten-free cookie, as the other eight varieties are $4 a package and include: Thin Mint, Shortbread, Peanut Butter Patties, Caramel deLites, Lemonades, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Thanks-A-Lot, and Cranberry Citrus Crisps.

    Celiac.com Sponsor (A12):
All Girl Scout cookies are preservative-free, kosher, with zero trans fat per ser serving. The Girl Scouts have a mobile app to help supporters find their local Girl Scout Cookie Booth sales, by zip code or GPS.

Download the official Cookie Finder app to your Open Original Shared Link or Open Original Shared Link, or visit Open Original Shared Link to find booth sale locations.

Not all booths will carry the Trios cookie, however, as it's available in limited quantities, so be sure to check with your local scouts to see if they are available near you.

Hi there, I just want you to know that it's not a gluten-free version of the Toffee-tastic cookie as indicated in the headline. Trios are a completely new cookie, and they are just as you described in the article.

Thanks to my west-coast granddaughter, I was able to try the ToffeeTastics. Thanks to my east-coast granddaughter I have tried the Trios. I find that the Trios are a bit dry. However the ToffeeTastics are the BEST gluten-free cookie around. Although they can be a little crumbly, they are rich, buttery shortbread cookies with a few toffee bits through out. I LOVE THE TOFFEETASTICS. I hope that both options will be available nationwide. The "regular" folks have several options and it's not fair to only provide ONE option to the gluten-free folks.

Actually the Trios have been around for a couple of years. I know the Central Maryland Council has had them for 3 years now. Trust me, the ToffeeTastics are divine.

To me, what really isn't fair is that we are always charged more money than others.

Celiac.com 01/07/2015 - Girl Scout Cookie season is around the corner, but this year, if you're hoping to get your hands on some of their delicious cookies, including their gluten-free cookie called Toffee-tastic, you might want to get your smartphone out.
That's because the Girl Scouts plans to debut a mobile app and a Web platform that offer scouts the ability to sell cookies online, and allows people who want to buy cookies to locate the cookie booth closest to them, without waiting for a knock on the door, or leaving the purchase to a chance encounter.
In addition to allowing users to find the nearest Girl Scout cookie booth, including the time, date of cookie sales for each location, the app and web platform also allow users to contact their local Girl Scout council, and ...

Celiac.com 02/03/2016 - Gluten-free foods are more popular than ever, higher in quality, and increasingly seen as worth premium prices paid by consumers, according to a new research report by Mintel.
The report shows that, despite widespread skepticism of gluten-free diets, more people are consuming gluten-free foods than ever before; with an increasingly positive attitude toward such foods.
Mintel's latest numbers show that 25 percent of consumers surveyed report that they consume gluten-free foods regularly, a whopping 67 percent increase from 2013.
At the same time, the report also suggests that nearly 50 percent of consumers surveyed feel that the explosion of gluten-free foods is basically a fad, compared with just 31 percent in 2013.

Celiac.com 03/31/2016 - Kellogg has announced that gluten-free versions of its Corn Flakes and Special K cereals will mark its gluten-free debut into the Australian cereal market.
