Now Find Gluten Free – A Product Review

Reviewed and edited by a celiac disease expert.

After using the Now Find Gluten Free app for only a couple of weeks, I can't imagine not having it. Everyone with a special diet should give this app a try.

Celiac.com 11/02/2018 - I recently downloaded Now Find Gluten Free, which is a free app that is available in the Apple iTunes Store, and it can also be downloaded for other platforms in the Google Play Store.

One thing about the app that was immediately noticeable was its simple, user-friendly interface.  From the home page one can browse “All Products,” or browse by “Brands” or “Categories,” and there are even “Fresh Goods” and “Coupons” areas so you can quickly find fresh items and get great deals on many items.

    Celiac.com Sponsor (A12):
At the top of the screen is a search box so you can search all products to quickly find exactly what you are looking for. I searched for “pancake” and was impressed by the large number of gluten-free pancake mixes that were displayed, broken down neatly in alphabetical order. Touching a search result brings you to a product page, where you can see all of the product's details, including its description, ingredients, dietary filters (these include additional things like egg-free, lactose-free, casein-free, etc.), and notes, which is an area where you can record your own notes about the product. There are also “Like” and “Dislike” buttons so you can easily flag the things you like or dislike, and an “Add to List” option so you can add items to your shopping list.

I really liked the “Dietary Filters” option that allows you to filter out any foods that contain other things that you might be avoiding like dairy, casein, artificial colors or flavors, eggs, peanuts, soy, etc. It also allows you to filter by different dietary choices such as organic, non-GMO, Kosher, paleo, vegetarian, etc., so the dietary filters are very robust indeed with 23 in total.

And if everything above just isn't enough for this free app, it also offers links to great recipes and videos, as well as featured brands, coupons, and products sections. Their website also has recipes, tips, and tricks to help those on a gluten-free diet.

After using the Now Find Gluten Free app for only a couple of weeks, I can't imagine not having it. Everyone with a special diet should give this app a try.

You can download Now Find Gluten Free in the  Apple iTunes Store or in the Google Play Store.

    Gluten Free Bartender App
I tried out a new app called “Gluten Free Bartender.”  This app is designed to make life easier for people to find gluten-free drinks. The “Drinks” section opens by default, and in it you will find categories: beers, champagne, ciders, liquors, mixers, wine coolers, wines, and miscellaneous.
What I really liked about the app was the ability to view categories by brand, or by recipes that can be made using a particular brand.  You can also easily add items and recipes to a “Favorites” list. Another nice feature is the ability to see dated gluten-free information about the product which comes directly from the manufacturer, including contact information.

    Gluten Free Meal Planner
Healthy gluten-free meals for an entire week, month or year are now possible using the Gluten Free Meal Planner.  With this amazing online service you can get access to ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  The menus come with a pretty photo of the finished dish along with easy to follow instructions including preparation and baking time.
I especially love the way the shopping list for each week is designed.  It is cross-referenced so you know which food items are needed for which meal, so you don't have to go back and try to figure that out when you return home from the grocery store.

    Send Me Gluten Free
Celiac.com 10/23/2014 - If you are someone who likes getting a surprise in the mailbox on a regular basis, a delivery of new gluten-free products from Send Me Gluten Free is definitely something you should try.
Each month a variety of gluten-free items will arrive on your doorstep in a bright orange box.  The ability to try different products and compare them is a smart idea.  For example, in the box I received, there were bar/granola products from three different companies, and two bags of chips (lentil and apple), along with personal care products and coupons which could be used on future purchases.

Celiac.com 11/04/2014 - Not long ago, the market for gluten-free products was regarded as a market of specialty products intended for niche shoppers and vendors. That has changed rapidly, as the market has evolved into a bona fide mainstream market serving shoppers with a strong affiliation for gluten-free products.
The overall market for gluten-free products is currently dominated by North American manufacturers and vendors, followed by their European counterparts. An abundance of new products and steadily rising consumer demand are driving the strong growth in the gluten-free products market.
A comprehensive new report in the market breaks down the overall market into geographic and products segments. The report is titled “Gluten-Free Products Market by Type (Bakery & Confectionery, ...
