Chronic Hives - Do They Go Away?

Recommended Posts

A month or so after my diagnosis and cutting of gluten I started getting hives occasionally after eating. I took out of my diet dairy, nuts and quite a lot of other foods that caused the hives. Now, a few more months in, I keep getting more and more hives, not only triggered by food but exercise, pressure etc. Has anyone had this happen post diagnosis (I was fine before)? Does it go away? I am not sure that cutting more foods is the answer as I keep hiving regardless. A food diary and allergists did not provide much value add. Any ideas? Is there hope?

My situation is kind of the reverse of what you're describing.  I broke out in hives if I took any OTC cold medication or any OTC or prescribed allergy medication before going gluten-free.  I react to benadryl and a laundry list of other drugs.

My girlfriend found out that the source of her hives was artificial sweeteners.  She doesn't have celiac disease or any food intolerances.

The allergist was no help for me with this either.  Hives are mysterious.
