Ttg Iga Still Positive After 1 Year

Recommended Posts

I tested positive for celiac disease a year ago, although I think it's been with me for my entire life. I was diagnosed with blood tests back in June of 2012:

  • tTG IgA was >200    ref. range was 0-20
  • EMA IgA was 1:40    (ref. range not given)

I did not opt for a biopsy as those two tests, and my symptoms, was enough for me to go gluten-free.

I've been gluten-free for a year now. I was cc'ed twice in the first couple of months. Then in January and February I was eating a few fries every week or so that had wheat starch on them. I slowly started feeling unhealthy because I was repeatedly glutening myself in miniscule amounts until I finally found my mistake... I read labels much better again!  LOL  ;)

Anyway, I have a new orthomolecular doctor who is looking into my lingering health issues for me. He ran a billion tests and redid my my celiac panel. So, one year later:

  • tTG IgA is 34.4    ref. range is 0-20
  • EMA IgA is negative  :D

I'm happy. It's about what I expected... actually, it's a bit better than I expected. I have a fair number of lingering symptoms so I had guessed that I am not healed yet, although I am definitely better off than I was 6 months ago, or a year and a half ago... or 10 years ago.  LOL

Some of my nutrient levels and such changed too. I'll add that later just to compare.  I know it's always very interesting to look to others' recovery who are further along than you.

You are a smart cookie and you have done a great job!  My tests were normal at the one year mark too, although my tTg was still a little high in the normal range.  It was as high as yours when diagnosed so that does take time to bring down.

I got news for you....it gets better and better as time marches on.  :)
