Gluten Free Camp For Kids! (Texas)

For those of you who have kids:

 

I ran across a gluten free camp for kids that is held every summer in Gilmer, TX. All the meals and snacks are gluten free. (There's a sample menu on the site.) Can't think of a better camp to send kids who eat gluten free...no worrying about what to eat!!

Its on this list.  Its over for this year  but I know it has been around several years, so something for next year.  I wish they had an adult one!  :D

My daughter went to Camp Weakaneatit in June and had a blast. And it was such a relief to not worry about what she was eating all week (for both of us). I highly recommend this camp or any that you can make it to - we drove from Virginia to Georgia and it looks like this will be an annual trip!

I think there is a celiac camp in Minnesota, too.  I've seen it advertised on the Twin Cities ROCK website: Open Original Shared Link

 

My 9-yr-old went to one of the Concordia Language Village camps in Minnesota this summer.  Although it isn't a gluten-free-specific camp, they handled his need for gluten-free food very well.  (And he LOVED the food - he was at Japanese camp.)  

 

So nice to know there are options out there!

My daughter wasn't ready for camp this year, but we are talking it up for next year. She wants her sister to come, so I'm glad that they take siblings. Did she love it? What were the highlights?

      Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.

      I think sometimes the pain described here can be a result of a sort of 'perfect storm' of contributing factors. Recently I had an appalling bout of lower back pain, lower burning gut pain and what felt like cramps.       I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.
