Dealing With Nausea

Hi All

Currently enduring a bit of 3-day-delayed cc after eating out on Friday (either that or am actually getting a cold). Blerg. I'm achy, chills, and a bit nauseous. No fun. But my current situation is not the point of this post.

Despite feeling that I could be sick at any moment, I know I'm likely not going to be. For someone who gets nauseous an awful lot, I've got a pretty strong stomach. I also hate vomiting and avoid it at all costs. Once or twice a year I might find myself over the toilet, but considering I feel nauseous at least a few days a month, that's pretty good.

So, what do you do to endure the nausea? I take capsulated ginger or eat some candied. Vinegary/salty things also seem to help (apple cider vinegar, or salt and vinegar chips of all things), drink lots of water. Breathe deeply and slowly. It usually passes or subsides enough that I don't have to worry about a mad dash to the washroom

What's your usual experience with nausea? Are you usually sick, or can you ride it out? What's your anti-nauseate of choice?

The nausea could be caused by anything: something you ate, stomach flu, motion sickness, etc.

Peppermint helps some as well. I normally have some peppermint tums on hand and they help some.

The nausea pressure point is on your wrist.  Hold the underside, where your veins are.  Like you, I'll get nauseous but know I'm not going to throw up, so I'll hold the pressure point and it helps some.  It's the same theory behind those motion sickness bands that they sell at the drug store.

When I was pregnant, I spent about 3 months holding the pressure point.  It's a miracle I got any work done, but I didn't throw up once.

You may want to search the same site for other makers of the drug, if there are any. Many times generic manufacturers make the same drugs using different inactive ingredients. To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the medication and maker in the results, then scroll down to "Ingredients and Appearance" and click it, and then look at "Inactive Ingredients," as any gluten ingredients would likely appear there, rather than in the Active Ingredients area. https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/

Thank you for your kindness. I have just begun CPTSD treatment & it's so hard to go through all this history realizing I could have had a healthier life had my mother had my best interest as she did her own needs and desires. I often thought she had kids to work for her. She did the bills and the laundry. She wore the pants in the family, I knew that & I know my stepfather was elated to tell me no. He had no interest in taking care of me ever. And he doesn't even understand that he caused these horrible health issues of my mothers and myself. His ignorance is bliss. He said he didn't want to hear about my health issues. Thanks again for being here and responding. It gives me a place of safety and understanding I haven't had for years. thanks, Jane

Thank you.  I certainly take it seriously, no matter what my diagnosis is, and I do a lot of my own research also.  I just want to make sure I'm doing everything "right" as much as I can without jeopardizing any test result accuracy since this may be my last shot at getting an official diagnosis since I plan to go fully gluten-free afterwards! Yup, I am certainly making a current effort to eat plenty of it!  Not only for test accuracy, but I figure I may as well enjoy it now just in case it's my last go at it also.

@Scott Adams I would say it means , no it is not verified gluten free. I am extremely sensitive and I also have OCD. So that answer is entirely too vague for me. However , if it suits others then I am happy for those individuals

Have you considered eating plenty of gluten from now until your capsule endoscopy? If you truly have celiac disease that would increase the chances of damage being seen.
