I have been gluten free for 1 year 7 months and 19 days. In all this time I have been glutened twice. The second time was last night. I decided to eat pulled pork at a restaurant without asking if it was gluten-free. I woke up at 2 AM and I felt like I had eaten 10 lbs. of pulled pork. Grrrrr. It turns out that the pulled pork is the only meat they serve with gluten. So this is the first time I have ever been bloated. I guess from now on I will probably have digestive issues if I get glutened. I'm not posting to complain but I know there are others out there wondering about this.

I actually am kind of glad for glutening symptoms.  How else would one know that damage is occurring?  How else would one to avoid eating that pulled beef again?  I hope you are soon debloated, but very determined to avoid gluten.

I was diagnosed as a silent celiac also.   In retrospect, this was not true (but there was no association at the time) as I had weak tooth enamel and nails, several miscarriages, eczema - all these can be attributed to the disease. 

 

Since my diagnosis nearly three years ago, I have been glutened only a few times as well (that I know of!) but twice in the past several months I got quite ill, spaced out, irritable and headachey.  Yet once I drank tea with gluten in it (how did I miss "wheat"?) and nothing happened.  It was likely only a trace but still.  For some symptoms vary from time to time; for others, they remain the same. 

 

You are right - once a silent celiac, not always a silent celiac!  Thanks for sharing your experience.

      So, I contacted Scott Adams, the author of that article and also the creator/admin of this website, and pointed out to him the need to clarify the information in the paragraph in question. He has now updated the paragraph and it is clear that the DGP-IGA does serve the purpose of circumventing the false negatives that IGA deficiencies can generate in the tTG-IGA antibody test.

      Has anyone experimenced enlarged lymph nodes with celiac? Both in the neck and groin area. Imaging of both areas have said that lymph nodes are reactive in nature. However, they have been present for months and just wondering how long this may take to go down. Been gluten-free for about two months. Blood counts are normal.

      Hmm interesting I just assumed that any “IGA” tests including the DPG iga would be negative in a person who is IGA deficient but maybe that is not the case for the DPG test.

      If you were just diagnosed I can say that if you go 100% gluten-free should should see dramatic improvement of your symptoms over the next few months, but the hard part is to stay gluten-free. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):
