Types Of Celiac Constipation

Recommended Posts

I have read about celiac producing constipation in people. Some times I read constipation must be less than three bowel movements a week but some say difficulty passing stool. I found over the years that no matter how much fibre and water was in me they were still not easy to pass despite the fact I went everyday, would this be classified as constipation, it led to a fissure eventually.

Constipation refers to the length of time between Bowel Movements.  Since you mentioned you developed a fissure, you may have a very tight sphincter.  This can be caused from anxiety, stress, hemorrhoids or in some cases might be from a medical issue.

Note:  This is the same for the general population, not just Celiacs.

Constipation also refers to feces that are difficult to expell, so bowel moevements are infrequent or incomplete. It otfen has to do with slowed digestion when the feces moves too slowly through the bowels so the large intestine has time to remove too much water from the poop, leaving it hard... and unpleasant. ;)

As far as I know, constipation is when you don't "go" for days, or it can be going a few times a day with those small rabbit pellets that hardly make any difference, or it can be those enormous logs that make you feel like you giving birth again, or it can be many BM's in a matter of hours once you have finally filled to capacity.    After 30 odd years, I feel like an expert. LOL
