How To Start Recovering?

I have been sick for a few months now. Almost anything I eat makes me nauseous shortly after eating along with having other digestive issues. The only things I am able to keep down are apple sauce and some candy that I can suck on. My doctor finally thought of Celiac disease as a possibility. Some of my blood tests came back positive, and now I am just waiting to have my biopsy for the confirmation. From what I have read, it sounds like if blood tests are positive, I should probably start eating gluten-free even if the biopsy ends up coming back negative.

Because I have gotten to the point where most things make me sick, I am pretty much eating gluten free already. Once I know I have to eat gluten free 100%, does anyone have any recommendations on some starter foods to try out so I can start eating again? Did anyone else have this kind of constant nausea issue?

Thanks!

My husband was very nauseous. He still has nausea but now it comes and goes. His main symptoms were nausea, bloating, belching and extreme fatigue. He ended up being casein intolerant also which is why he was still bloating and having nausea while following the diet so carefully. Now we are eliminating both.

When he first started the diet he stuck to very basic foods - fresh fruits and veggies, plain fresh meats, eggs. Once we got a basic handle on what to look for we have slowly started added other foods that were gluten free. There is a lot you can have once you get it all figured out. We try to focus on what he can have instead of what he can't so it doesn't seem so dismal.

You should also check items like shampoo, soap, deoderant, toothpaste, makeup ??(not sure if you qualify for this) ect....

Take some time and read thru the old post you will get invaluable information from this site. You will also find that if you go gluten free before your biopsy that it most likely will affect the results.

Good Luck.

Nausea was one of my main symptoms. It was horrible for me.

It took some time for it to go away and I was not back to normal for about 8 months. I did feel alot better well before then though. Everyone is different though and varies among times.

If you would like some lists that will help with mainstream foods we can have, products we can use, and good specialty items feel free to email me and I will send them to you.

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?

Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
