Does Dermatitis Herpetiformis Behave Like This?

Recommended Posts

I get a spotty rash on my torso after eating gluten that is very itchy but slowly disappears after I stop eating gluten. It looks like pictures of DH before it blisters, just like this:

I always assumed it was some kind of eczema (which I also get from gluten), but it looks different and it is a lot itchier. I've never continued eating gluten to see how bad it gets.

Does DH behave like this or would it still blister regardless of whether I quickly stop eating gluten? Any advice greatly appreciated :)

It could be dh but I wouldn't say that for positive. You really should get a dh biopsy from a derm experienced in doing the biopsy. A dx of dh is a dx of celiac disease.

Is the rash bilateral  -- appearing on both sides of the body at the same time?

Read this thread:

And this:

And many more in this dh section. If you've been gluten free then you will have to do an extended gluten challenge for the biospy.
