Hey All, I was wondering if anyone has tried gluten free pizza? I'm specifically talking about the store bought kind. I'm looking for a cheat meal - I've been eating mainly non processed fresh food but I need a little something to stay sane every now and then. I'm from New York so i'd say I have a pretty high standard of pizza lol. Are there any good frozen ones that are worth eating? I don't think i've ever eaten a frozen pizza in my life but I don't particularly have the time right now to make my own. 

Also while I'm posting I figure i'll ask. I'm going to this event with my friend at her work. It's like a dinner party. How do I navigate this situation food wise? Should I just eat at home and get drinks there or plan to eat there but take snacks just in case nothing seems safe?

If you are able to eat dairy,  Against the Grain is hands down the best gluten-free pizza (and I'm from N.Y. coincidentally:-))

We are major pizza lovers, so the struggle has been real trying to find good gluten free pizza. We have tried any brand we've come across in many different stores. The best we have found is Sabatasso's from Costco. They might sell it other places as well. We buy our own toppings and make variations other than cheese. Our household has thick and thin crust lovers and this brand manages to satisfy us all.

I recently covered some pizzas when adding some grain free options to the gluten alternative list....I actually found a company that makes gluten-free hot pockets also sorta made me laugh. Pizza is one of the hardest ones to do. This is something where it is wise to lower your expectations and to consider making it yourself (because if you find a crust you like, there is a god chance the cheese or sauce might not be to your taste). I have yet to find a pizza brand that gets everything right. But don't despair, there are some tasty options provided you modify your expectations a bit. Udis used to make a great gluten free pizza, but they changed it so it went from being something like a north eastern style thin crust italian pizza to an awful pizza that tastes like it was made at the same place Henry Hill got his egg noodles and ketchup from. Some people do like the new taste, so I would say it is still worth trying. But I really can't get into the change. Against the Grain isn't too bad. They kind of cheat a bit the way they use this gelatinous goo in the center of the crust to create the illusion of chew (at first you won't notice but after a few you'll catch on). Unfortunately their cheese blend leaves something to be desired (tastes nothing like the classic three cheese italian blend). But their pesto pizza is wonderful. Again, gelatinous goo in the crust, but it is pretty good. Three Bakers actually makes a pretty good pizza. Haven't had it in years though. Fraschetta isn't bad either (though just be careful as the box for the gluten free one looks pretty similar to the regular pizza). Better Bread Company makes a very good gluten free pizza but is hard to find around here. I love their pepperoni pizza. I think of all of them, Better Bread company probably comes the closest to a real pizza for me. But it isn't perfect (and I think Against the Grain Pesto is probably my favorite out of everything I've mentioned).

Thanks for the tips. I miss pizza soooo much. There is a local place that makes gluten-free pizza but after a reaction I don't trust them anymore. Searching for a gluten-free frozen is so hard for me as I can't justify the cost. It's very expensive. If it was for one of my kids I would do it, but it's just for me and I can eat something else, lol.

When in a hurry and on the cheap, I use a upside down portabello cap topped with pizza sauce vegan cheese. Bake 400 for 20 mins then broil a bit. Check my links if you get a chance for other options, Oh just found a. Seasoning from flavor god that taste like pizza. Bit expensive but putting it on a vegan cheese coated paleo bread slice smashed my craving last night.

In Ft. Myers Fl, there are 2 pizza places that make Gluten free pizza.....I love pizza, got to go there and check them out.....I have not found a frozen pizza yet...we have Publix here win-Dixie,I need to request it

Oh man, we all need cheat days! I can't handle dairy either, so finding decent safe gluten-free pizza has been hard. Only one place in the city that does it right, and it's $$$ so a treat 2-3 times a year.

Anyway, Daiya (who make vegan cheese substitutes) have started making all kinds of new stuff including a gluten/dairy/soy free vegan frozen pizza!  They're not amazing but pretty decent, reasonably priced for the size, and becoming available lots of places near me at least (not sure if Daiya is a big thing in the US or not), so if I see them on sale I pick up 2 or 3 for "I really don't want to cook right now" cheat nights.

Of course, if dairy isn't an issue, I'm sure there are others a million times better.

- Gluten-free since March 2009 (not officially diagnosed, but most likely Celiac). Symptoms have greatly improved or disappeared since.
- Soy intolerant. Dairy free (likely casein intolerant). Problems with eggs, quinoa, brown rice

- mild gastritis seen on endoscopy Oct 2012. Not sure if healed or not.
- Family members with Celiac: Mother, sister, aunt on mother's side, aunt and uncle on father's side, more being diagnosed every year.

For frozen, my favorite is freschetta gluten free pizza. I prefer to get the cheese one and do my own topping. For homemade, I like the King Arthur gluten free pizza crust recipe best. Whole family eats it. For sauce I mix I 15 ounce can tomato sauce with one can paste. Add spices and a touch of sugar. Tastes a lot like Pizza Hut sauce

Sonomas Flatbread pizzas are good, if you can find them.  But I prefer making my crust since I am now DF too.  Schar has a premade crust that I top with sauce and veggies.  Doesn't take much time to put a pizza together with it.
