1st bloodwork possible celiac? Long post

Hello, I've been suffering abdominal issues for about two months now. I've been having minor pain and a lot of pressure in my left abdomen. It feels almost like someone is inflating a balloon on my left side from below the belly button to just below the ribs. At first my doctor diagnosed it as diverticulitis, and put me on antibiotics, however a CT scan was never done. I was advised to stuck to a liquid diet followed by soft foods. I did start to feel better so I tried eating some pasta and toast and started to feel the pain and pressure again. My doctor then put me on stronger antibiotics and had me go back to the liquid and soft foods diet. Again I started to feel better and added in pasta and toast. Just like the first time the pain and pressure came back. My doctor then ran more bloodwork looking for other problems, including TGG IGA and TGG IGG. The TGG IGA came back <1.2 (negative), the TGG IGG came back 8.3 weak positive. My doctor thought that could point to potential celiac and ordered two more tests to look for celiac (I'm not sure which tests) and advised me to cut out gluten while waiting for the results. 

I started researching celiac a little bit which is how I ended up here. I found a few things interesting. In the past 15 years I was diagnosed and treated for IBS, acid reflux, and chronic daily headaches with migraines. From the little research I've done it looks like all those could potentially be related to celiac. I'm anxiously awaiting the results from the new bloodwork, and hoping that I may be on the road to recovery!

Your doctor did give you some bad advice. You should remain on gluten until all testing for celiac disease is done.  That includes an endoscopy to obtain intestinal biopsies which is still the gold standard.  However, everyone has different circumstances, so you might do this step (e.g. no insurance, in school, etc.).  Once off gluten, it can be difficult to purposely gluten your self for further testing.  

Your test result is not solid at this point because it is not common.    Let us know the results of your other tests.  The rest of the celiac panel includes the Immunoglobulin A (IgA) which is a control test, DGP IgA, DGP IgG, and EMA.  If the other tests are negative, please go see a GI for an endoscopy (see one anyway of you can) to actually see what is going on inside your gut.   Your symptoms can be attributed to so many other illnesses.  Try to find the root cause.  It just might be celiac disease!

      Celiac Emotional Healing Support Group
       
       
       
      Again you are invited to join Johnny Patout, LCSW for Baton Rouge's first emotional healing support group meeting to assist those living with celiac disease manage the emotional challenges so many of us face. Most often the emotional disturbances include depression, disinterest in normal activities, insomnia, grief, mood changes, anxiety, inability to concentrate, extreme concern about managing a gluten-free lifestyle and other emotional and behavioral challenges.
       
      The professionals at Jamestown Avenue Counseling Center created the emotional healing support group to give us a safe place to begin to process our emotions and support each other as we heal emotionally while managing celiac disease and the resulting autoimmune disorders.
       
      The emotional healing support group meets every Thursday, 6:00-7:00pm, at the Jamestown Avenue Counseling Center of Baton Rouge. Jamestown Avenue Counseling Center is located at 4637 Jamestown Avenue, Baton Rouge, Suite B-1. Suite B-1 is upstairs.

    NO. Just like for the serum panel, you have to have been eating a full gluten diet for 3 months prior to testing. Welcome!   The TTG IgA can be elevated due to other Autoimmune disorders, but just slightly.  Your result definitely requires you to be referred to a GI for further evaluation (e.g. small intestinal biopsies).  My guess?  Your odds that you have celiac disease is very high.   I am a TD2, have celiac disease, and have many intolerances and allergies.  The good news is that you many be able to ditch the MAOI diet once your small intestine heals!
