I Have The Gene For Celiac!

Hi guys!

Well I'm so excited (should I be?) because I just got off the phone with Dr. Green and I have the Celiac gene HLA DQ8.

With being on and off and on and off gluten while testing for Celiac, the doctors gave me no answers! So, I went to enterolab and tested positive for sensitivity.......and it got bad again so I went to Dr. Green and now I know for sure for sure!

Haha, it still doesn't make a difference because I would be off gluten for life anyway, but it's just good to hear, from the famous Dr. Green himself, that I WAS NEVER EVER CRAZY!

It always sounds a little odd to say congratulations in these kinds of things, but I'm so glad that you finally know for sure. And, you know, we never thought you were crazy! :D

aww, thanks Patti...haha, I know you guys were always on my side, even more than a lot of family! But thanks. It really is good to know for sure, especially from the doctor who is supposed to know "everything there is to know" (so far) about Celiac Disease.

YAY! I'm glad you've got an answer. It's a relief to know that you've been barking up the right tree, huh?

:D

Yeah, thanks Nancy! Even though I have known for a while how I feel off the gluten and on the gluten, and the ENORMOUS difference between each, I'm glad I got all of the tests done to know exactly where I stand. But like I said, even if I didn't get a clear diagnosis, I would have stayed away from that junk forever anyway. I've been waiting about 7 years for this answer and it feels SO GOOD! I can't imagine how the people waiting for 20 something years, etc. must feel when they get their answer.

Mine is definitely triggered by inflammation and stress! I do also have arthritis in my spine, but the pain is more in my pelvic area. Im sure i have other food intolerances or other autoimmune isues but the more I focus on it and see doctor after doctor, it just gets worse.  Best thing is get of Gluten! (I also avoid lactose). Try to limit stress and anything that causes inflammation in your body.

Good morning,   I got an email about replies to this post. Some of my doctors had blamed a slipped disc for the pain I had and that contributes, but after meeting with a gastroenterologist AGAIN and trying some lifestyle modifications, I found out I have IBS and can't tolerate corn or excessive fructose to any degree. Cutting out corn AFTER having cut out all gluten containing products was a real pain but I feel much better now!

So, I contacted Scott Adams, the author of that article and also the creator/admin of this website, and pointed out to him the need to clarify the information in the paragraph in question. He has now updated the paragraph and it is clear that the DGP-IGA does serve the purpose of circumventing the false negatives that IGA deficiencies can generate in the tTG-IGA antibody test.

Has anyone experimenced enlarged lymph nodes with celiac? Both in the neck and groin area. Imaging of both areas have said that lymph nodes are reactive in nature. However, they have been present for months and just wondering how long this may take to go down. Been gluten-free for about two months. Blood counts are normal.
