Not Eating And Stomach Pains

Recommended Posts

Just curious if this has to do with Celiacs or not. Sometimes I'm just not hungry and so I don't eat dinner, but then I'll wake up in the morning with stomach pains as if I ate something with gluten. After eating breakfast the pains will usually go away in a few hours. I've been gluten free for about a year and half now, so I don't get many symptoms any more unless accidental. So I didn't know if the stomach damage from being undiagnosised for so many years is still there and so I can't go without eating or what. I usually try to remember to eat a corn tortilla or something before bed so I don't wake up hurting. Just a curiosity question here.

Thanks

I have the same problem!! Sometimes I feel kind of icky and don't really feel like eating. But I think NOT eating actually makes me feel worse. I get incredibly nauseous and dizzy if I skip meals.

Now I try and eat something small, at least some applesauce or something.

Of course, I'm gaining weight now! But I still think it's better than feeling ill all of the time!

That's the trouble I'm having too - gaining weight. I had lost alot of weight before my Celiacs kicked in (finally got down to a size I was happy with), then one of my symptoms was gaining weight and bloating. That's one reason my doctor (at least one of them) said I didn't have Celiacs because you are supposed to lose weight instead of gain weight and that it was a childhood disease. But I've read many on here that have gained weight instead of losing. Now I'm trying to get that 20 pounds gained off and I run into problems with sore stomach when I don't eat. Trying to cut back, but my stomach protests and starts hurting when I cut back. Then if I exercise too much I get very drained and have stomach aches, my doctor had told me to stop exercising (everyone's dream prescription, don't exercise- haha), but I still do very moderately and rest when my body says can't take any more. I wasn't sure if this was Celiac related or just that I'm weak minded and can't diet and get the weight off.

Same thing. I actully have a low-level but persistent nausea all the time and have gained weight instead of losing it. I've always been a little heavy but my celiacs coincided with my quitting smoking and when I gained alot of weight and started with the stomach problems the doctors finally started doing testing but didn't want to believe it was celiacs since I was gaining instead of losing. It's not fair!! I thought I'd start to lose weight when I switched to a gluten free diet but I haven't lost an ounce and it's almost impossible to extercise with the stomach, joint pain and swelling but I try.

Not sure, but it kinda sounds like you guys might not be eating enough. If you aren't taking in enough calories, you will gain or not lose weight. You might want to keep track of how many calories you're eating and go from there. If your stomach is hurting after a night of not eating, maybe try to eat a small meal in the evening-banana/peanut butter, cheese&crackers etc.... Then see how your stomach feels in the morning. :D

i've noticed people with morning problems as i have read messages as i usually don't feel well in the mornings. i think we have to eat often to feel good and keep the icky feelings away and the nighttime is just too long between meals. just a thought but it seems like a common complaint - not feeling good in the mornings.

I also notice that the timing of medications, especially fiber/laxatives/probiotics matters, a lot.

I switched my "digestive enhancers" to the middle of the day and I have had less problems with sleeping/pain in the morning.

I used to have a similar problem with stomach pains when I didn't eat. At the time though I had some stomach ulcers which was causing my stomach pains and acid reflux to be worse! Prob. not the case for u but thought I'd mention it!!
