Gluten-free Corndogs?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone had a good recipe for some gluten-free corndogs or where I could purchase some! I've searched Wild Oats---no luck there. Thanks and hope to hear something...

I made these a few weeks ago, they were GOOD!!

1 cup gluten-free flour mix

2/3 cup cornmeal

2 Tbsp sugar

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

2 Tbsp shortening

1 egg

3/4 cup milk

1 pound hotdogs

cooking oil

Combine flour mix, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, xanthan, salt and mustard in a bowl. Cut in shortening till mixture resembles fine crumbs.

Beat egg and milk in a separate bowl. Add to dry ingredients.

Dry hot dogs with a paper towel and cut into 1 inch long pieces.

Coat hot dog pieces well with batter and deep fry in hot oil (375 F) till golden brown.

Thank You, Jessica! I'll be sure to pass this recipe a long to my Mom and maybe even learn a little about cooking myself (lol, not to handy in the kitchen yet). To get some corndogs would do wonders for me. Kind of been bland in the world 'good food'.

I'll be sure to let you know how it all turned out.

Thanks so much for the recipe, because I have never had any corn dogs in my life, and they sound soooo good. I will try this recipe right when I get home tomorrow!

THANKS!

I filled a deep skillet with oil and fryed them. Sounds like you need to turn down your heat a bit. Sounds like your oil was too hot. Good luck with the next try.

-Jessica

That is the recipe that I used and they burnt in about 10 seconds! Did you use a deep fryer?

You can order S'Better Farms at Kosher.com---- I already bought the corn dogs, chicken strips, and I think the wings . My grandkids liked everything. Kosher.com had the best price and best shipping prices I could find... It wasn't cheap tho......... They came pretty fast and was frozen when the pkg.arrived....

My grankids do not care for the Ian's brand of chicken nuggets or the fish , and they do eat the wellshire nuggets but they said S'Better Farms is better.

hope this helps
