Is she able to take Claritin? This is what I use for allergy sinus issues.

I use antihistamines, like cetirizine Hydrochloride (Costco Allertec), Claritin, or Zyrtec and they are gluten free.    But that just helps with runny noses, itchy eyes and hives.  I do use a Nedi pot (found at any big box store) for sinus congestion.  It works great and is safe.  Has she been evaluated for sinus polyps?  Those are often related to autoimmune disorders. 😥

Even the Mayo Clinc recommends the Nedi Pot:

Hi, I am dogsitting and my allergies are in full swing. I asked a pharmacist if Zyrtec contained gluten or lactose because I do know a lot of people who are Celiac take it with no problems. The pharmacist took her time researching and returned to inform me that it does contain corn gluten. It was the gelcaps. I did not ask about other of their products. But I did feel the pharmacist was a good source of information I could trust.

Corn gluten is okay for Celiacs. Actually, all grains contain some form of gluten but it's only the gluten found in wheat, barley and rye that we have to avoid. So when the Celiac community speaks of avoiding "gluten" we are actually referring to those three grains.

U2Jeanie, welcome aboard! Not sure where you live but if in the USA, Costco sells their store brand (Kirkland) "Aller-Tek" equivalent of Zyrtec and it states on the bottle it is gluten free.

I think the Kroger brand Benedryl equivalent is gluten-free also.

Thank you both. I haven't had access to the test results but will get them and post here.

The ulcers are prepyloric ulcers. Not sure if that makes any difference.

Duodenal ulcers are not uncommon either and often result from H.Pylori infections. https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/duodenal-ulcer

I had what was termed "lesions," and normally ulcers are in the stomach, rather than the small intestines. I'm not sure why they would want you to have her continue to eat gluten, since she had a positive blood test, but as her doctor said, if she is uncomfortable and having symptoms why not have her go gluten-free at this point? If her symptoms improve, it would be another indicator that she has celiac disease and/or gluten sensitivity. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):
