Rice Pecan Bread

At my local market (!!!!) I saw in the freezer two loaves of Good For Life gluten free bread....a plain rice one and a rice-pecan one. Has anyone tried these? They seemed very dense and heavy. I'm looking for something that will toast decently.

I tried them both early on--they were the first gluten-free bread I found. The white was terrible--even toasted. The Rice Pecan was ok toasted, but I never bought it again. Another thing was that I kept them in the freezer and it was impossible to get the slices apart. Sorry to anyone who likes it :ph34r:

That was pretty rude of me to not even suggest an alternative! If you have a Whole Foods nearby, their Gluten Free Bakeshop Cinnamon Rasin Bread and the Sandwich Bread are very good.

I agree, the Food for Life breads are awful. I got through about half a loaf then couldn't take any more, so I pitched it in the trash.

I haven't found any good sandwich breads at all, but Glutino's cinnamon raisin bread is nice toasted with peanut butter on it.

I had some Sterk's bread toasted last night with tuna on it and even that was terrible. I think I've given up on sandwich bread forever... :(

I didn't like the pecan rice bread either, it was my very first thing gluten-free and my hubby brought it home for me. Let me tell you I could have killed someone with that bread. It was the worst I have ever eaten.For a breakfast bread I like the black china rice bread but it is hard to find--- I know whole foods carries it and I do like it with peanut butter or cream cheese.

I like challah bread from either Mr. Ritts in Philly or Everybody Eats in Brooklyn.My fav is anna's bread mix. I always keep a couple of different kinds in my freezer.. Also I have used and liked the bread from The Grainless Baker in Pa. I make reuben's out of there mock rye..

I have some of that right now in my freezer that I just bought! It sounded good- because of the nuts and all...

YUCK!!

I love the kinnikinick Tapioca Raisin one that I have already started. It is fabulous. Reminiscent of a challah bread or sweet bread with raisins. Love it!

      Antibodies my number is in 500's. COVID hit and I was  layed off from my job so no insurance (was in Arizona) so couldn't complete all the other testing they wanted to do. Back home and contacted Minnesota Mayo and they take my new insurance so considering going back in spring.

      I've been to the Mayo Clinic. Outstanding place. Did they test to see if you might have refractory celiac disease? This may explain why the symptoms persist but what numbers are off the charts? Are they antibodies, liver enzymes?

      Hi Dawn,   Back in the Fall of 2019 with Covid looming I considered getting a pneumonia vaccine.  I went as far as getting in line and reading the pamphlet and saw the warning about not getting it if you ever had a reaction to diphtheria.  I instantly recalled a tetanus booster shot in 1971 that caused a severe reaction.  Tetanus booster shots include diphtheria.  I haven't had a tetanus shot since, but recent lab results show that I have many timed the immunity required.  Good Luck.

      Since we don't know what you reacting to when you get vaccinated, we can't say whether or not the pneumonia vaccine will cause a reaction. Is there some common ingredient in these vaccines that is causing a reaction. I mean, with many vaccines the antigen is delivered via a solution containing albumin (chicken egg protein). Some people are allergic to chicken egg protein so they can't take those vaccines. That kind of thing. When you say your "numbers are off the chart", what numbers do you refer to? Are you referring to celiac disease antibodies?
