Time for a testosterone oriented view of things.

I love:

Being a man with celiac. There are more women than men with this disease and they are all SMOKIN’ HOT! definitely the best symptom of celiac disease.

That I was forced to change everything about myself because of this disease. I was only too happy to send the old me packing.

When people can’t recognize me because of all the weight I lost and changes I have made. It is especially enjoyable when it is someone that used to deride me for being a loser.

That instead of a huge gut I now have a six-pack.

Bone crunching heavy metal music, nothing like a good head banging to get the adrenaline flowing.

Progressive rock, the kind that is played by real musicians who have sacrificed everything to be the best.

Older women.

Raven-haired women

Intelligent women.

Scandinavian women.

My girlfriend, an older, intelligent, raven-haired Norwegian.

My son.

Hunting, fishing and bicycling.

A severely warped sense of humor.

Altoids! They’re not just an after dinner mint anymore. They’re for “dessert” after dinner.

We should become spokespersons for the Altoids company!!!!

Maybe an Altoids tin can be our mascot!

I love eating all the fruit right off the tree or plant, warm from the sun.

I love getting out golfing with my hubby

I love when my brother and nephew come for a golfing holiday .. they have such a wonderful sense of humor when we are golfing.

I am new at this but here I go...

I love-love -love YOU ChelsE for starting this love thing. You really should put them all in a book! What a dynamic creative person you must be!

I love dynamic creative people!

I love that I found this forum today, and feel that I have been able to help some people already.

I love to help people!

I love all the wonderful things that people have said they love on this "thread"

I love that someone said (sorry don't remember the name or how to get back) "I love newbies on the forum"!!

I love being a "newbie", It's like being invited to a party where you don't know anyone, but you know they are all cool.

I love feeling like I may have found a place where I can get help

I love feeling like I may have found a place where I can help someone else

I love the yearning feeling I have to share so much I have learned in the last 3 years

I love the fact that, somehow, in my heart-this makes it all worth it. The fight, the sickness, the desperation, the depression, the (continuing) frustration at keeping on finding new things to avoid...all worth it. Because it "transmogulates" the bad I've endured into Just "history". Information-first hand- I can GIVE. That gives me a feeling of powerful compassion.

I love feeling Empowered

I love feeling Compassion

I love the word "transmogulate" It sounds like such a big deal!

I love the word "snarky" and I don't even know what it means"" HEE Hee Hee

I love all of you who have shared, and opened your hearts to the world and me. Some of the "Loves" were so personal, intimate--beautiful.

I love all the "loves" that were quirky!! What the "hex" is snarky? I told you I'm new--I missed that one.

I love that I don't know what is "snarky", but I will probably find out soon!

I love that I am down here at 1 AM in the morning laughing out loud to myself alone, because of you guys!!

I LOVE YOU GUYS! (You knew I couldn't resist it, didn't Ya)

I love FEELING like I am not alone anymore. I feel like crying

I love feeling like crying over GOOD stuff.

I love that Ian thinks all Celiac women are SMOKIN HOT! For on this at least I QUALIFY!! HA HA!! Take THAT Pamela ANDERSON!!

I love that I recently worked out some personal history issues that have changed my outlook on life and my art.

I love that my life is already beginning to evolve because of the decision I made to change my outlook on life, and my art.

I love that I can make money, by my artwork, that that is not a bad thing, and that there are no mental strings attached

I love that I can now do my best, and no one will get hurt.

I love that I have learned that I can shine my brightest, and this does not take away from anyone else.

I love that I know NOW that it never did

I love that I know NOW that Mrs. Drysdale was just wrong. and that is O.K., I'm sure she was doing the best she knew how at the time

I LOVE MY HUSBAND! (Don't think I was gonna forget that one and pay the price!!)

I love that my husband is the sort that can hear me laughing down here all alone, and just roll back over and go back to sleep. He knows I am easily amused-and he loves me for it.

I love that he loves me for it!

I love that it was he who suggested we get a "Special" toaster, just for me, so we didn't Cross contaminate my homemade bread when I make toast. Frying it in a pan just ISN't the same!

I love my homemade bread

I love that I came up with it myself BREAD!! when before, I could barely cook toast without screwing it up!!

I love that I cook such a HUGE variety of meals for us-And Dang good ones too-that I NEVER would have bothered trying to figure out as long as Tuna Helper was an option!!

I love knowing I am no longer eating all the preservatives, dyes, chemicals, and plastics that go in to everyday Pre-packaged crap that Most of this Country calls "FOOD"

I love Mrs. Leepers gluten-free Creamy noodle tuna dinner for a "quick" dinner option every once in a while. (but I use salmon instead of tuna, and I put peas in it, just like my old Tuna Helper)

I love that maybe someday I will get to share my bread recipe with some of you-because it is so much better and easier to make than anything you can buy or make from the countless recipes I've tried(I've got all the gluten-free Betty Hagman cookbooks)

I love that I shared that recipe with a family all the way in California a few weeks ago, and it may help save an 8 year old girl from going through all the gluten related problems I went through

I love synchronicity. I called to ask what source the "starch" was from in one of my art supplies--and it turns out the man has been worrying that his daughter is celiac. Inconclusive results etc. etc. But she is ADHD and other behavioral issues. So he starts asking me all these questions about "wheat allergies". 72 minutes later, we may have saved his daughter from unknown damage and pain

I love being able to really help someone. Maybe she will be our first woman president!! Her mind will be clear, her potential unlimited by something so simple.

I love potential

I love the pregnant chaos that is

I love it when the Universe responds, to bring out of that chaos, an answer, like a soft breeze .

I love it when the answer is something as tangible, if as ethereal, as a Forum in Cyberspace

I love that you have been as patient as to read all this

I love that I know when to wrap it up

I love my cat, who is 17 years old and has the blood of a 9 year old apparently.

I love his one blue eye and one gold eye, and his perfectly pink nose, and his fuzzy white butt. I drove a long way to get this "mutt" cat 17 years ago. His name was originally "Sensei" and he has indeed taught me much. I changed his name to "Beauty" "Boo" for short, and he has taught me much on this subject as well. No one is as artistic as a cat thinks he is!!!

I love the significance of these colors to me

I love knowing I will talk to "you" tomorrow, whoever you are

I love knowing-there IS somebody out there!!!

Dove

I love that for the first time in my life there is someone (are people) who actually understand one of my problems.

I love that I have friends who can read ingredient listings and know ALL my allergies.

I love that my best friend's mom took me for dinner at a restaurant after she discovered they had gluten-free pasta.

I love that despite all the horrible things I've gone through I've come out a better person and wouldn't trade any of the awful stuff for an easier life.

I love the fact that at 8 when the doctors told me I'd never walk again, I not only walked but became an elite athlete.

I love that when I was given 6 months to live at 13, I turned around and went to a high performance camp, after they told me doing so could kill me, because if I was going to die anyway I wanted to be able to live as much as I could as hard as I could! (Obviously they were wrong on both)

I love that whenever I got sick/injured and no one believed me, I believed me.

I love that the doctors thought MRI's were the tool of the future and told me that they had proof nothing was wrong, and 4 yrs later they had to swallow their pride and admit to me that I was right and they were wrong.

I love that no matter what and no matter what people have said my mom has never second guessed me.

I love that my Nana was always more proud of me when I failed at something than when I succeeded.

I love that even when I don't want to get up in the morning because I know I'm too sick to do anything, I get up anyway.

I love that even after the doctors told me this year (following the C-Diff infection that almost killed me) that I shouldn't go back to University this fall because I was still too sick, that I knew in my heart that the only way for me to get back on my feet was to keep trucking and now I'm going to finish this year on the Dean's List and get more Scholarships.

I love that after 8 months of going to school for 3 hours and then coming home and napping for 5 hours a day and never going out with friends and doing all the fun stuff 19yr olds are supposed to do, that I'm slowly healing and I'm finally starting to be me again.

I love that last weekend I went out and had fun!

I love that I can laugh.

I love that my laugh sounds like a sprinkler.

I love that I've had my heart broken.

I love that I've loved.

I love that I learned lessons as a kid and as a teenager than some people never learn.

I love that I've always stood up for myself.

I love that I'm me, and that I don't conform to what others want.

I love that I went to my high school grad alone.

I love that I've never just dated anyone just because I wanted a boyfriend or because I was lonely.

I love that I LOVE shoes!

I love that I love to cook.

I love my "me" Friday nights with my ritual of making suishi and watching The WB.

I love that I'm my own friend.

I love that I've learned how to fight.

I love that I developed a relationship with a guy in gr. 8 that developed into a sibling relationship and I learned/am so many of the lessons you get from siblings. (I'm an only child.)

I love that the person I learned the most from was my Nana.

I love that she was my best friend, and I was hers.

I love that when she lived with us, she used to help me sneak out of the house.

I love that when she died my parents let me make all the decisions for her funeral, and that it was the most perfect day.

I love that at her funeral one of her friends told my dad that during the service I turned around for a brief moment and flashed a smile at someone and that it was like my Nana was there.

I love that the night before she died even though I was sick I crawled into bed with her and had a cuddle, and that the last thing I ever said to her was "I love you."

I love that she died 8 months ago and that I'm still learning lessons from her.

I love that I've had the opportunity to travel to amazing places.

I love that I'm not afraid of living.

I love that despite the fact I've been sick my whole life I've never let that stop me from doing anything, it's never been a clutch.

I love that I take better care of myself because of my health problems.

I love the opportunities I've had to prove myself.

I love that I cry.

I love that I know what fresh food tastes like.

I love that I know that organic chicken tastes different than the junk filled with antibiotics.

I love that I still go to a pediatrician pulmoary specialist as my main doctor because he's the only doctor who's ever believed in me and has never stopped in trying to figure out all my problems, even when other specialists wrote back letters to him telling him my mom was crazy and I was a hypochondriac. He always stood by me and believed in me until the very end.

I love that I can admit I'm awful at stuff. Like math. I don't believe in it!!!

I love that someone finally posted what the heck DH means.

I love that I speak 3 languages.

I love lying out in the middle of the street, where no traffic has traveled yet, after a MASSIVE snow storm and just lying there under the light of a moon while the snowflakes land on your eyelashes. (Just added that night.)

I love hugs.

I love that I have a roof over my head.

I love that I have friends.

I love that I have family that loves and supports me.

I love that I'm Canadian.

And last but not least, I love that I finally found this board.

Ok, for balance here's list

I love:

#1 without competition: my husband of 26 years and my sweetheart of 33 years! The man I've been with thru thick and thin. Any thinner, and he'd be invisible.

at this point these are not in any particular order of importance...

..cooking gluten-free for my husband and watching him enjoy the little foods he can have. Experiementing with gluten-free receipes and talking him into letting me make them (he's stubborn and fearful of new foods).

..going to Whole Foods to shop gluten-free

..finding new gluten-free foods

.. When foods are labeled "Gluten Free" on their label or wrapper

..talking to strangers about Celiac Disease and discussing it with them, especially if they never heard about it or are interested in knowing more about it. I wish I had more opportunities to do this and time to make up a brochure or something.

..my nieces and nephews. I love being with them and talking and playing and coloring and games.

..this board and those who understand

..sunny days that stretch into forever

..going to the Jersey shore/vacation

..SUMMERTIME!

..reading fiction and non fiction

..mornings at daybreak - the quiet solitude - watching the sun come up especially at the beach

..twillight- how the sky sometimes turns violet

..chocolate and chocolate frosting, chocolate candy, fudge..

...classic martinis & cognac

...clothes that fit and make me look nice, esp. to my husband

..lottery, esp. if I win

..learning new things (by the way, what does snarky mean? Is it a good thing?)

..old and new country music, classical music, oldies music and some rock'n'roll & pop from 60's and 70's- I miss here in NYC area WCBS FM 101.1

..old movies

..getting through the day without a problem or catastrophe

..doctors who listen, suggest and understand you and your issues

..cabernet or merlot wine

..this is a love/hate: continuing Ed for my job

...having blonde hair & blue eyes & nice fair skin (sorry, sounds egocentric, but other than that I don't like myself physically too much). When I was in high school, the guys didn't flock around me as I was overweight. Even when I lowered my weight to almost normal, the stigma of 'overweight' remained.

My mother would say to me when I would say I'd trade my clear face for smaller hips any day, "Oh, but you have such nice skin!" "Look Mom," I felt like saying, "The guys aren't standing around saying to one another 'Boy, I'd like to go out with her, she's got nice skin!' " They weren't admiring skin, let me tell you.

..having some intelligence, at least. Something I am thankful for

..knowing that if I want to go there, New York City is only an hour away.

..having a computer (I waited a long time to save up for it)

..running into people from my hometown or high school days (even though I have nothing to brag about, I still like to see them)

..intelligent conversations with my best friend Sue

..buying stuff mail order/internet ordering

..taking a day off from work here and there

..the sound of ciccadas in summertime

..quiet, sane, clean neighbors - when I get them

..funny movies, comic strips, clean comedy

..family movies like Mary Poppins where everyone is happy in the end

..sending birthday cards

..modern sneakers (sure beats Keds from the past)

..going out to dinner with friends

..good sleep

..my country

..spending holidays with my sister and her family

..solitude at times (never get enough, however)

..being older and hopefully wiser -- I am at point in life where I am comfortable with being almost 50)

..ok, it sounds bad, but I do like when I get a compliment from a man - not a nasty compliment, but nice dress, hair, etc. Makes me feel like, well maybe for 49 I'm not an old hag yet..

..Taking a day for myself to do as I please

..having a snappy comeback for that relative who likes to belittle me.

..being able to make my point intelligently without making enemies

..being in sync with nature

..not wasting time, money, resources

..knowing what "hippies" are and sometimes it's good to put flowers in your hair - For every season, turn, turn, turn, etc.

..being wistful and believing in hope, for me, for others for the world. When I shrug off my cynical overcoat and become wide-eyed child & for a brief moment believe in the future...

..going to the zoo

..happy mistakes

..on the board, when Richard answers a post, I know he knows his stuff and I go by his answer.

..founder of this website and board, Scott (well 'love' as in "as a person." for his insight and courage to start this up)

..being healthier than I have been since I was 17.

..knowing that my family is Ok

..my great grandmother who pretty much raised me until her death (I will always miss her)

..fact that my husband keeps me going in my worklife as he makes sure our apartment is neat, clean, clothes are washed, etc. He's a good househusband.

..tv series: MONK

Just want to end with one sentence that I try to live by: Love people; use things.

For Rusla (and anyone else)

I love that I've found gluten-free licorice that you can order on the internet! They have Cherry Vines too! My daughter loves the Cherry vines!

ok, I KNOW this company makes a gluten-free LICORICE licorice rope/vine whatever, because I've seen them at Life Grocery... But in my sleepy haze I've only been able to find these with strawberry and cherry and then the only Licorice ones I found are their Licorice bites with wheat in them.

I know they exist! I WILL find them!

***I love that my intestinal cramping had decreased quite substancially since begining this diet in Nov 2005.

***I love my son who's at a very fun age right now. Will be 2 in April.

***I love my 24 week old black lab (but dont like all the hair shedding).

***I love my hubby for sticking with me and helping me out and trying so many new things with me.

I have to add this one...

I love robins!

They are the first sign of spring and remind me of my mom. She passed away April 8, 2003 and since the anniversary is coming up, I've been really bummed out. Yesterday (the first official day of spring) while driving to school, I rounded this corner and there must have been like 20 of them sitting on this hillside. it was so cool! I looked up at the sky and said, "Thanks Mom, I needed that!" :)

I loved posting in the "I hate" thread to get everything negative off my chest! :) Now I will love even more listing all the positive things!

-I Love my wonderful hubby and darling daughter, Mallory.

-I love the rest of my family and my in-laws (except one of my bro-in-laws...who I just tolerate).

-I love my religion!

-I love knowing that I can be with my family Forever and ever!!

-I love chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate!

-I love daisies - the white ones with yellow centers...like in the movie You've Got Mail - when Tom Hanks brings Meg Ryan a beautiful bouquet of white daisies to make her feel better. Aww!

-I love (clean) romance novels!

-I love getting real mail - not bills or junk mail...but letters and packages and my Parenting magazine! :)

-I love shopping for, and spending money on, other people (but not so much for myself).

-I love gluten-free Zucchini Bread!

-I love vanilla ice cream with caramel on it! YUMMY!

-I love the smell of rain (but don't like being out in it)

-I love swimming - and can't wait for it to get warm!

-I love sitting in a hot bath, eating ice cream and reading a romance novel all at the same time! (Though it's not very easy.)

-I love being told I look like one of my sisters....who I think is almost perfect! ;)

-I love all the silly things my daughter does.... like how she was helping me look through my new Parenting magazine and pointing to all the babies. I would slightly lick my finger to turn the page, and I didn't even think she was watching me, but she started slobbering on her finger and sticking it on the center of each page - "just like mommy"! And how she jabbers to me - mostly in her own language - with a few words I recognize added in. I love how she's learned to "dance" - by swaying her hips as if she's a hula dancer! It's hilarious!!

-I love having found this website - right when I needed it the most - and all the helpful, wonderful people who post here.

-I love sleeping... so I suppose I'm going to end this (even though I could go on forever!)...and get myself to bed! :)

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my boyfriend and his entire family. Without them and their support, I don't know what I would do. My boyfriend is the most patient, level-headed, generous guy around, and his family has more or less taken me in and made me one of them. Even though I am in grad school and live 800 miles away now, his mom, brother, and grandmother all stay in regular contact with me (they are in Georgia, bf in Memphis, me in Detroit). It's soooo good to be on someone else's love list!!

I LOVE those little moments when my boyfriend and I are alone and so goofy, but perfectly right for each other. No one could understand us but each other.

I LOVE that there is a 100% gluten free pizza place within 15 minutes of my house now. (www.belcibo.com, if you live in greater Detroit area).

I LOVE that my friends at school (who met me after dx) often get the facts on whether something is gluten free or if I can safely eat in a restaraunt before I even have the chance to open my mouth.

I LOVE my dog.

I LOVE that I have the opportunity to pursue something I really love. Being in school is such a priviledge.

I LOVE that by working in the library, I have a whole set of friends that love the same sort of nerdy things I do.

I LOVE, LOVE that I am almost back to normal, that I feel human again, that this diet can be controlled more or less as long as I am careful. What is inconvenience in the light of being healthy again. (the brain fog is finally lifting!!!!)

I love a lot more things, but I it's late and I just finished my first year reviews today(which I also love being through that), so it's time to go to one of the places I love...my cozy bed!!!

I Love:

My Husband-because he tries all my "experiments" and is honest when he says he likes something.

My Son-because he's the comic relief and he'll eat anything.

My Daughter-because she is so understanding and so critical.

My Life-I'm still alive and kicking

Finding sites like this one that have so many ideas and helpful people.

My Beagle-because he is Bodhi, he's my comfort.

Rocking out on my IPOD when I do anything!!

Getting the chance to bake again.

Finding new recipes.

Anything GFWF from Bob's Red Mill (the chocolate brownies are to die for!!)
