TTG IGA results - Confused?

Hi all.

My name is Lyndsay and I have had recent blood tests to see if I am Coeliac

4th Mar 2022 - 0.5 kU/L

6th Oct 2023 - 2.6 CU

 

Now, I have no clue what these results mean.. I can't find anywhere online to advise on how to look at these

 

Any help or guidance would be great please

Welcome to the forum, Lyndsay!

Please include the reference ranges for each reading. Without that we cannot comment as each lab uses different reference ranges for what is positive vs. negative. There is no industry standard. Also, the units are different for those two results. One is using kU/L and the other is using CU. It would be like comparing apples with oranges unless they are using the same units. Do you know if the two blood draws were sent to the same lab for evaluation?

Hi Lyndsay, welcome. Normally blood test results include some sort of scale, so there is your score, and then a range showing where you landed for a test. Do you see this with your results?

      The ulcers are prepyloric ulcers. Not sure if that makes any difference.

      I had what was termed "lesions," and normally ulcers are in the stomach, rather than the small intestines. I'm not sure why they would want you to have her continue to eat gluten, since she had a positive blood test, but as her doctor said, if she is uncomfortable and having symptoms why not have her go gluten-free at this point? If her symptoms improve, it would be another indicator that she has celiac disease and/or gluten sensitivity. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):
