Christmas was fantastic this year I ate safely all day except for when it came to supper at my aunt and uncles. I went over to my aunt and uncles house for supper because it was there turn to host Christmas , for some reason my aunts mom brought her own silverware that we were going to use, my aunts mom brought the silverware in a gluten bread bag, so knowing this I washed the silverware before I used them. supper was grate, up until when I finished supper, suddenly ruffly 20-30 minutes later  it was like I was just kicked in the stomach I started having stomach pain, nausea, vomit-like feeling almost like I have to  burp but can't  and washroom problems. glutened on Christmas ☹️

Did you figure out what got you sick?

Aaron2018 Enthusiast

No idea what got me sick, could’ve been the bacon because sometimes bacon isn’t gluten-free, they usually use harvest bacon, which is normally always gluten-free, but I should have double checked because maybe it wasn’t harvest bacon, could’ve been the seasoning on the turkey, was believed it was all normal spices and my uncle told me that there was no mixed spices used, could’ve been improper sanitization of silverware after being in bread bag. There is so many potential possibilities, I don’t know what it was. I am still not feeling 100% yet but significantly feeling better as of December 27.    December 25- 26 I felt the worst.

You may want to look into GliaxinX (they are a sponsor here), which is an AN-PEP based enzyme shown to break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach. There are many studies that have been done on it, and I take them before eating in restaurants.

Thank you both. I haven't had access to the test results but will get them and post here.

The ulcers are prepyloric ulcers. Not sure if that makes any difference.

Duodenal ulcers are not uncommon either and often result from H.Pylori infections. https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/duodenal-ulcer

I had what was termed "lesions," and normally ulcers are in the stomach, rather than the small intestines. I'm not sure why they would want you to have her continue to eat gluten, since she had a positive blood test, but as her doctor said, if she is uncomfortable and having symptoms why not have her go gluten-free at this point? If her symptoms improve, it would be another indicator that she has celiac disease and/or gluten sensitivity. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):
