Lentils

Hi

I have not eaten lentils for 3 years now since I was diagnosed.  I really miss them so I am wondering if anyone had any luck finding and being able to eat gluten free lentils.  It seems they are at high risk on cc. I have tried eating split peas and get the celiac burning pain on the left side of my upper stomach .

Thanks

This brand claims to be certified gluten-free:

they produce purity protocol lentils. I have used these without any problems and I get extremely sick. I still thoroughly sort and wash. They were tested by the Gluten Free Watchdog. I have bought them right from the company but they may be available on Amazon. Unfortunately they are in high demand and not always available. If they are out of stock, you can call them and they will send an email when they have more. I’m having lentil soup tonight!

I've been checking all my local grocery stores for brands of lentils that say gluten free on the packaging.  So far, I've found that some Dakota's Pride green lentil packages say gluten free.  I also found Hurst's Brand lentils are gluten free.  I've also seen recommendations for Bob's Red Mill lentils with gluten free marked on the packaging.  Bob's also makes non-gluten free lentils and I noticed they were typically more expensive when they said gluten free.  Every time I go to a grocery store I check their beans section and look for options that say gluten free on the package.  I've also been soaking all my beans overnight before cooking.  That and adding kombu seaweed when cooking can help with gas.

Thank you both. I haven't had access to the test results but will get them and post here.

The ulcers are prepyloric ulcers. Not sure if that makes any difference.

Duodenal ulcers are not uncommon either and often result from H.Pylori infections. https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/duodenal-ulcer

I had what was termed "lesions," and normally ulcers are in the stomach, rather than the small intestines. I'm not sure why they would want you to have her continue to eat gluten, since she had a positive blood test, but as her doctor said, if she is uncomfortable and having symptoms why not have her go gluten-free at this point? If her symptoms improve, it would be another indicator that she has celiac disease and/or gluten sensitivity. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):
