Omg...i Might Be On To Something

Paula,

I just thought I'd mention that I had problems with L-glutamine.....but then again I've had problems with most supplements. I havent tried that stuff since 3 years ago.

I was gonna put a *warning* with my link to the molybdenum/candida page..."Do not open if brainfogged....scientificness may cause a worsening of symptoms!" :o

Nah, I KNEW what it would be like before I went to the page, lol. I was just hoping my brain could handle it today. Dr. S and Anna both want me on molybdenum, so I've been taking it for nearly a year now.

Now, if I could only read that page and understand how it's been helping me. :lol:

Well....ok...I really would like to have more on my plate. Like maybe some spaghetti and meatballs...with a whole loaf of garlic bread. B)

Oh, you and me both! I really want penne pasta with meat sauce! I have some in my cupboard (the penne (tinyada), not the meat sauce, lol), but the darned stuff makes be blow up like a hot air balloon!

Oh...I'm not seeing Dr. S till Tuesday now. They didnt have room for me afterall...they wanted me to come in earlier than I was scheduled....but due to total chaos in my dairy dept. it just aint gonna happen. :rolleyes: Gonna have to wait till Tues.

Its amazing how fast things can fall apart.....yesterday I was feeling like my dept. couldnt be in better shape...and then walk in this morning to a total freakin disaster. I think people just wanna torture me by making things as difficult as possible. Like I dont already have enough on my plate.

I skipped over parts of it. It was interesting....they used kinesiology to come to their conclusions and found that molybdenum helped with most patients who had problems with candida.

Alot of what was mentioned was the same stuff I'd been posting but in greater (and more scientific) detail.

It's not your fault, it's me....and my disconnected brainfogged brain.

The report says...Urine analysis (provoked or unprovoked) is not an adequate procedure to assess copper stores or copper metabolism. Blood levels, erythrocyte copper content, erythrocyte superoxide dismutase activity and serum ceruloplasmin are more indicative measurements for copper status.

I've been wondering about rice myself. That's pretty much all I like to eat of the non-gluten variety. So far it hasn't been a problem for us and I'm hoping it stays that way. We aren't eating right either.......with reduced income we are probably only getting 1-3 servings of fruits/veggies a day.

I have no idea....but I'm thinking its got something to do with my body's inability to process *anything*...so yeah...why should the L-glutamine be any different. :P

As for the second sentence...

Blood levels, erythrocyte copper content, erythrocyte superoxide dismutase activity and serum ceruloplasmin are more indicative measurements for copper status.

I have the same reaction as you Lisa :huh: ....I have no clue what it all means. :unsure:

All I know is that I need something other than the urine test to assess my copper levels.

Several weeks ago I had problems with my IV and it was moved to the top of my wrist area. The blood clotted and the IV stopped but at that point I was just about finishned anyway. Since then it still feels sore there....like a bruise. :huh:

The vein feels kinda big and hard...like its somewhat swollen and its tender...like a bruise. What could this mean?? I dont like the way it feels...I dont think it should feel hard...but it does. :(

Could it be permantly scarred or something? Or does it just take awhile to get back to normal..cuz I'm a slow healer and all.

It sounds like phlebitis. You need to put heat on it. You can google it for more info. It basically is swelling of the vein, from agitation/IV's. I got phlebitis so bad from IV Iron, that's why we did the PICC line this time.

It doesn't cause permanent damage, and it's not really a big deal. If it gets worse, or if the swelling moves (like up your arm) they usually give antibiotics because it can lead to an infection in the heart.

When I got mine, I had the nurse at the Dr's office look at it, and she said that if it got any worse (my whole forearm was BRIGHT red and realllllly painful to touch) then I need to call the Dr and have them call in a prescription for abx.

I hope it stays that way for you too Andrea. It's hard to be so limited in the first place and to have to cut something else out that has been a staple will be a challenge for you all.

I am probably going to go off rice for a little bit and see if there is any difference.

I don't know Rachel but it sounds like what Kassandra described could be it.

Rachel, please don't go digging, but I am wondering if you recall anything on mast cells coming up while researching pathway function.

Another thread got me thinking if there was a connection in any way, or if the two even tie together.

I found an article here on C.com that talks about PST Enzyme and Sulfur Oxidization Deficiencies. Its referring to studies in autistic kids. Its not too scientific. :)

Thanks Kassandra...it sounds like that might be what it is. The nurse did tell me to put heat on it but I didnt do it. :rolleyes:

Well...each time I've had any problems with the IV they've told me that heat will help bring the swelling down...but this is the first time I've had any lingering effect and I've never tried the heating pad. I guess this time I better try it. :P

Sherry, Sorry you're feeling bad. The trip probably took more out of you than you think. I'm still not back to normal after mine, but I'm doing a better each day.

I'm better today though still symptomatic. I think it was allergic overload. I reacted to my shots this week, and it could be the spring season. I tend to have some seasonal stuff where my shots have to be adjusted suddenly to lower dosages. Also I have been increasing the mold and grass mixes, and the return to a different location may have changed how my body handled those. Although Portland is much damper than here, but maybe the mold is just different.

I need to write my allergist but my plan is to cut back on 3 of my shots next week. Even though I didn't get skin reactions--I sure had a delayed reaction.

So then I think I ate an allergic food on top of this. In the past I have reacted to lima beans, but over the past several months I have tolerated them fine a couple of times a month. This was a severe reaction though not life threatening, so I won't be eating them for awhile at least until the seasonal allergies calm down!! It took my by surprise.

I'm sorry Sherry. :( The travel you just undertook can tire anyone, that makes for a very long day.

Other than that, I'd keep a log of when you hit down times. Could part of it be China?

Maybe getting the R/O installed with help as well......I don't know. Lots of little things can build up to make a big thing though. Could the gua sha (or whatever it is :P) have stirred up stuff even though you looked a lot better as far as coloring?

Maybe it is coming down after the stress. I have really been glad to get back here, actually.

Gua sha may have stirred things up although there was not that much stagnation, so I'm guessing it wasn't a major factor. The thing was, I did that in the morning and was just fine afterward. The symptoms hit like 30 minutes after eating--it seemed clearly related to the meal.

She did gua sha on my head this time, I had never had that before. There are a lot of acupuncture points on the head. Anyway, it was excruciatingly painful on the points on the side of my head in a line vertical from just behind my ears. Whoah! I just couldn't stand it, it hurt so badly. She didn't do very much this time. The other painful place was the front of my head just back from my forehead. After the gua sha my allergy symptoms improved (improved the headache and congestion right away).

My husband was involved in an unavoidable accident last month. Luckily he was in the semi and hit the overturned car before another car came by, otherwise someone may have been critically injured. He was uninjured but his truck was badly damaged. He's been driving a single trailer truck and the pay is much less, but at least they are keeping him working. We are hoping he'll be back to doubles within the next few weeks. His truck is being turned into a logging truck so we don't know what he'll be getting.

Hope this happens soon, Andrea. I am so glad again that he wasn't hurt. The pictures were awful scary.

Paula, I'm taking it and doing okay on it. ART at first showed that it was "ok" but not contributing. But the last appointment it showed that I needed it.

I think that at first I had just finished humaworm, and my intestines were really clean of the bad stuff. Nothing showed up on ART and Dr. E was surprised. No candida or anything.

But this stuff all came back after about another 6 weeks, and then it showed that I needed the glutamine.

In terms of why you don't handle it--I am sure there is an explanation if we can figure it out. For me it is strange--I handle some of the things for these pathways and some I don't. I'm not like Rachel where she doesn't handle anything re the sulfation pathways. I can't handle any cysteine but am low in it, but handle MSM just fine. I can't handle glutathione but need it. I basically only handle Meyer's B mix injection, no oral B's, and I handle B12 shots. I think that the L-glutamine fits into this pathway too, but I can't remember for sure without researching again.

I am wondering how your being off the candida diet impacted your reaction?

It does sound pretty suspicious for the lima beans then. :( Allergies are no fun either. Mine are usually anywhere from May-August. All the nice weather. <_<

I cant say I've read alot about mast cells....and I dont have anything totally jumping out at me.

I did read that thread though....and my thoughts were that all of the foods listed were highly phenolic except the wheat but we do know that its highly allergenic...as is dairy. Fermented foods are mentioned and most have high levels of sulfite.

Wouldn't a problem with mast cells be caused by aggravation, inflammation, immune dysfunction or some other constant underlying condition? To me it seems that this would be secondary to some other problem going on in the body. I could be wrong but I dont see it as a condition that would occur without something else causing it.

I did get an answer from Dr. E about the alcohol in the herbal tinctures. She said because I had been tested for these, it would have showed up as stressing me if I couldn't use these due to allergens. She said doing the tapping after I take them could help with any stress they might cause.

She didn't really answer about the alcohol and whether it was grain-based though.
