Patti, I am having problems with my vitamins too, I started taking a liquid vitamin but then threw up the other morning and was sick to my stomach for several hours and now I don't know what to do.

I seem to be stalled, I got quite a bit better and then I just got stuck.

Page 300, that is just too amazing. :)

The corn science is scary and yes we may all have to plant our own gardens again if we want real food. I read something recently about them growing meat in sheets. :( I don't understand it and it just creeps me out even thinking about it. My sweetie and I are buying a lot in a little town, it has water, electricity, a septic field and costs less than a thousand dollars. We won't be moving there right away but I hope it will become our summer place and where we can grow lots of vegies to eat and to store through the winter.

Cecile, I wonder if there is anyone in your area that is doing Community Shared Agriculture.

Rachel, glad you got the thyroid thing figured out.

Ok as Senator of Rachelville........

I just got solicited, as most Senators do....from a fellow I used to date in college. He then, thought I was wonderful, but not as much I did of him. THIRTY YEARS AGO. He found me though Classmates.com. Soooo, he did some searching.

He would like to see me, talk to me on the phone, and visit me in my home town... blah, blah, blah. I did tell him that I have been married for 27 years and he said "any contact is good contact"

So what does the tribunal think of this? A ghost from the past. It is very stange for me because during that time, my parents died and I have no contact with anyone in my past for almost 30 years. It has brought up memories that I thought have died long ago...and I can remember things. By the way, he is 55 and he said he has never married and has always thought of me for all these year. Gad, can't a girl get a break. And, yes, before anyone asks, Yes I am flattered, he said some pretty nice things about me (at 19, so where is the reality.)

I told my Jim about this (he's the other Jim) , and I have always entertained his female school friends with good enjoyment with no issue.

Hubby, said not problem meeting him, but in reality, he REALLY doen't think it will happen.

So, a great new issue for Rachelvillians tonight. How should I pursue this?

(On another note, the moon is getting close to full...Karen, undercover)

Lisa

Lisa,

As a man I can tell you... do not meet with him. Men think differently then woman, and most likly he is not intrested in "freinds". If I was your husband, I would not be comfortable with it at all, not because I would not trust you... but cause I know better hten to trust HIM.

Just my thoughts on it... now to find a couner crawl up in, realy messed up at dinner. :(

Oh my what happened Vincent?

We ate at a freinds place and I sepnt so much time watching where my sons hands went (we had plenty of food for him, but he still a tollder) that I forgot to watch what *I* ate. Dumb Dadddy!

Yeah, I know. :( He was betwen chicks and thought on a whim, that I might be single. The chick movies kinda deal....long lost love reconnected thing.

It is so very strange to me (good and bad feeling) that after 30 year, someone still has thoughts of me. Flattering, oh yeah!... So for all you guys out there, talk sweet to your girl. You never know who's out there. ;);)

Cecile,

Container gardening would probably be best for you in the sand. You can buy soil to put in them, just make sure they are well watered and have an outlet on the bottom. I need to figure that out too.

Susan,

I'm sorry you didn't get to hike....sounds like the girls had a good time though.

Lisa,

I agree with Vincent and Cecile....My husband agrees with them too.

Rinne,

Sometimes we hit a plateau and it takes a while to start feeling better or whatever the case may be. Don't give up. :P

Vincent,

I hope you recover quickly from your meal out tonight.

Tavi,

How was your mini trip?

Lisa:

I would say it would of been great if he came and met your hubby and you, but the whole any part of you is better than no part, that kind of creeps me out. And the fact he is 55 and never been married. I think I would pass on it. My 2 cents :D:D:D

To everyone else, I am back from Reno and Hot August Nights. It was fun to see all the old cars, but I am glad to be home

(pant !pant! I think gasp! I am caught up pant! pant! whew!)

Cecile--I grow tomatoes, red peppers, basil, cilantro, parsley, rosemary, mint, catnip, and dill in big plastic containers on my deck. Get potting soil, not dirt--it's more expensive but the plants do SO much better!

Lisa--a few years ago, it seemed like ALL my old boyfriends came out of the woodwork and looked me up. One put it in a very beautiful way--he said that he was hitting a birthday milestone, and going over past memories, and that all those memories made up the fabric of his life, or something like that Anyway, it turned out that he and my husband both grew up in San Jose, and his grandmother ran the Japanese Sunday School that my husband attended as a child, and my husband remembered this guy's uncles, of all things. They ended up emailing each other back and forth, which felt just a wee bit odd to me!

Anyway, of all the old boyfriends that looked me up, I didn't get the feeling from any of them that they wanted to reconnect romantically--they just wanted to check out what I was doing with my life and with whom.

Of course, when they saw me very happily married, with 3 children, the youngest of whom we dubbed the Velcro Baby because I could NEVER put her down, that may have dampened any concealed interest!

Okay, I will add to the story. He was a Senior in college at a male college at the time. I was a freshman, at a girls college and just away from home. He gave me his ring and said shortly he would replace it with "another". Toooo much toooo soon and I backed off. I truely believe that I broke his heart.

So.......he was wanting to marry me, but never married. What did I do to this guy. (no, not gay)

The only conclusion that I have that I was the ultimate standard, no one else could cut it. B) Yeah, in my dreams.

Vincent, haven't had contact since I wrote that "my husband and I would ...

I love this..........I seem to alway struggle with my past and my future. I have soooooooo very little contact with any one or any where in almost 30 years. My parents are gone, my home place is gone, I have no contact with anyone from my pre-married years.

Someone searching me out was more of an "ephiphany" to me......in that a reminder to me that I did have a life, I knew people, I went places, and I "may" have imprinted someone.

It though, has brought back some memories that I have put away..

And everyone else with unknown ailments...good luck, feel better!

Ya know, I don't want any man from high school (or college) to reconnect with me. Of the ones that would, one is gay and I might punch him upon seeing him anyway, one's in the priesthood, one was one of those wierd things, and several I'd rather not remember ever again.

I give up... off to find that courner to crawl in to... ttfn! :(

Feel better, Vincent!

You know what's fun? Sorting through tax returns to figure out what to put on the FAFSA, and then having parents stage a coup d'etat in the troop

Maybe it's more of a mutiny...

Anyway...

Vitamins-wow, I cannot find a vitamin that either ds or myself can tolerate. I remember on here that there was a question about folic acid being troublesome--too tired and brainfogged to remember it, though.

Robbin,

How in the world do you keep track of everyones posts. If I don't reply to each one I forget somebody. You do a great job at that.

Hope your day went well and that your brain fog lifts.

Rachel--24 Collaborator

Lisa,

No, no no...I would NOT go see this man. Nothing good can come of it. He's flattering you already. Even married women can be swept off their feet by a love from their past. I see no good in it. Maybe you can continue talking to him so that you can be more clear what his motives are before you see him (if you wish to do so). What if you get wrapped up in the moment, or the flattery, or the memories of the past?? Nobody is above this....even in a perfect marriage things can go awry. I wouldnt take that risk....but thats just me. ;)

Ok...corn. The chips I ate were organic corn chips. One brand even said non-gmo. I try to get the "safest" stuff. But still....there were blisters. I dont know alot about the Starlink corn but I do know that it was BAD. <_<

Penguin...dont worry about not knowing about masa or Auxigro. You are on gluten right now and we all understand. ;) It will all be over soon. :D

Andrea....what?? You dont want the Altoid Trophy??:lol::lol:

You crack me up.

Great job on the updated list too! :)

Rachel, dear cracker addicted president, I have the brain fog so much lately, I would never know when someone else was brain fogged. You all make perfect wonderful sense to me no matter what!!!

 Robbin, trust me...you would notice if I actually posted when I was truelly brainfogged like I was last night. I seriously could NOT post at all cuz my brain was really fried. I had to wait until I could write small sentences that sounded normal. It got better as the night progressed.

It scares the heck out of me every time....I start thinking I'll never get back to normal again. It doesnt matter how many times I go through it...it still freaks me out! I feel soooo dumb and when I try to write....it seems like maybe I'm in kindergarten.

Its the most bizzare thing....I can never get used to feeling that way.

I must go back now cuz I've forgotten stuff already.

For some context: I have type 1 diabetes (T1D) (since 11 years) and celiac disease(since 4 years) For about a year now, I’ve been experiencing permanent floating and undigested stools. I’ve had a pancreas elastase test done. The first result was extremely low at 44, but a second test came back at 236. My doctor said that since one result is normal, it rules out pancreatic insufficiency because, according to them, elastase levels would always stay low if that were the issue. However, could the 236 have been a false result? My doctor also thinks I don’t have pancreatic insufficiency because I’m able to gain weight. I also get hgh injections as my bone age is younger than my real age, this also contributes to weight gain, so I dont know if weight gain can rule out malabsorption. But maybe if I had real malabsorption I wouldnt gain any weight even with hgh? For celiac, I’m on a gluten-free diet, but there might b small cross-contamination from things like pepper labeled as “may contain gluten.” or sausages which dont have gluten ingredient but say may contain. My doctor said that small amounts like this wouldn’t harm me and even mentioned that an occasional small exposure to gluten may not do much damage (which seems questionable since I thought even tiny amounts could be harmful). She also said that when Im older (Im m17) I could try eating small amounts of gluten and do antibody blood tests to see if I can tolerate small amounts or not. For reference, I’m asymptomatic when it comes to celiac, so I have no idea if I’ve been “glutened” or not. My first concerning celiac blood test was semi high IgA, then 3 months later we did a check up and my IgA was high so it was confirmed celiac. Since than I’ve had celiac antibody tests done yearly to see how my diet is going, and they’ve been negative, but I’ve heard those aren’t always reliable. I’ve never had a follow-up endoscopy to confirm healing. I also always kept eating „may contain gluten“ food. (I live in Germany so I dont know if „may contain gluten“ is as risky as in the usa but I suppose both are as risky) These stool issues started around the same time I was doing excessive heavy lifting at the gym. Could stress or lifting have triggered this, or is that less likely since the symptoms persist even after I stopped lifting? Occasionally, I’ll feel very mild stomach discomfort, but it’s rare and not severe. My doctor (also a dietist) said floating, undigested stools could still be “normal,” but that doesn’t seem realistic to me. Could this be impacting my vitamin or protein absorption? I also did a fructose intolerance breath test and had a high baseline of 20 ppm, but it never increased—only decreased over time. I fasted for 12 hours and didn’t eat fructose beforehand, but my stomach didn’t feel completely empty during the test. Could this mean the test was inaccurate? For lactose intolerance, I did the breath test but only fasted 10 hours and had eaten lactose prior because I wasn’t aware of the proper diet restrictions. My results were: 14, 12, 15, 25, 35, 40, 40 ppm—which would be considered positive. But given that I didn’t fast long enough or follow the right diet, could this result be unreliable? Has anyone else dealt with similar symptoms? What ended up being the cause for you? And sorry for the long text!

The Docs' and NP haven't committed to Celiac determination yet but say go gluten-free diet because...  And I have with improved physical results - feeling better; overall functions better, and more energy.  Still 10 pounds down in weight but I still have BMI of ~23.  It's been just over a month now gluten-free diet.  I'm fortunate I get along with diary/milk well and most other foods. I wanted ask about this site's sponsor, gliadin X.  If this is legit, seems like a good product to keep on hand. Though it says it's only a safety for incidental gluten contact - not a substitue for gluten-free diet. What's your input on this? This may be sensitive subject since they're a sponsor. I've used resources here and other sites for information, gluten-free food/product lists. So thank you for all that support. That's it for now - Stay warm...  -2F this morning in Colorado!

I did suffer with gastric symptoms before diagnosis, but got all sorts of weird and wacky symptoms after going gluten free.   Things got much better once my antibodies fell to normal levels, but it took years (please don't panic, many people's go to normal levels relatively quickly when following a gluten-free diet). Causes of the symptoms you mention that I also experienced were iron supplements, a temporary dairy intolerance (this is common in coeliacs and should pass when your gut heals properly), and eating oats, as mentioned above.  Other symptoms I got were musculoskeletal pain after diagnosis, but again, once my coeliac blood tests were normal, I had no more pain. I did notice patterns emerging in foods that I reacted to and learned to steer clear of them, then gradually reintroduced them when my gut healed, such as soya, pure oats and dairy products.    You might like to keep a food diary. Cristiana
    • Jy11
Well the conflicting results continue as the biopsy has come back negative. 😵‍💫 Waiting to discuss further but I really don’t know what to think now? Eight biopsy’s were taken from duodenum which surely should be sufficient if it was coeliac?

I have Celiacs and want you to be aware of the amount of weight you can potentially put on if you rely on gluten free snacks, bread etc.,they  are high in carbs.  I put on 25 lbs in a short amount of time.  Whole Foods are the best way to go but I struggle with this.  The cost of gluten free is also a problem.  I love black licorice but most have gluten.  My favorite chili seasoning as well.  The list is endless.  I take  Advil liquid gels and had no idea until I read this.  I hope you do better than I have done.  I feel I am destined to suffer daily no matter what.  My aunt didn’t take care of herself and died from complications.  I hope you can get on a good routine.
