Omg...i Might Be On To Something

Recommended Posts

Were you referred to a specialist for the tooth problem or the jaw problem. Usually it's orthos who do the TMJ repair. There are many methods of working with TMJ, I would not opt for surgery. Just seems strange that he's not sending you to an ortho for the TMJ ... they are the ones who look at cranio- facial structure.

Mouth guards at night can help. The cracked tooth could be from grinding. My jaw was just in the completely wrong place, so for the past year we've been retraining my muscles to hold it in the right place. The last step is moving my teeth so that they don't pull it back to the wrong place. Right now, none of my teeth, except for the front ones, even make contact ... I've learned to just swallow my food whole ... <_< No lettuce for me!

The tooth problem I think but now I'm not sure...when I talked to the girl at the specialist's office to make my appointment, I told her I thought it might be TMJ, but wasn't sure and she said that that would be why I needed a specialist, lol. So maybe he does that too?? Or, maybe it will be to just fix the tooth problems to see if that helps the pain. What does endodontic mean...I looked up endo in the dictionary and it means "inside or within"...sounds like route canal to me, lol...anyway, that word is in the name of their practice.

Hi Donna--

Sorry about the pain :(

I have TMJ Disfunction, also. I use a night guard on my bottom teeth. Mine was made for me by my dentist. He took a mould of my teeth, and had it made from that. It's very comfortable, and fits perfectly.

Our insurance covered 80% of the cost.

I was diagnosed by an Ear, Nose and Throat Dr. who told me to have the dentist make the guard.

Other things that help ease the pain for me--soft foods (when it hurts), massaging the points (one is where you top and bottom jaws come together--put your finger there and bite down a couple times--you'll feel the place going in and out--the other is farther up, in front of your ear, you'll feel it when you bite), warm cloth on the joints.

Thanks Patti! I found a couple of spots where the jaw meets that are very tender...the one by the ear is tender, and when I press on them the pain that is radiating stops. I'll try the warm cloth...is that while you are massaging or afterwards?

Donna,

I had a root canal last year (sept I think). I still bothered me in March. Now the pain seems to be mostly gone. The hygenist told me it could take up to a year. I never had the pain that you have though, my toothe just couldn't handle hot or cold foods.

Have you ever heard of or read up on cavitations? Do a google search.....I lost all my saved favorites in March so don't have the stuff I had bookmarked anymore. :( Just another consideration. The doctor I saw for my allergies is a mainline doctor who moved over to holistic medicine. I can't go to him regularly since he doesn't accept my insurance plan. He's into removing mercury etc......he has a list of toxic free dentists in the area. There is a dentist in Reno that deals with cavitations. He requires xrays to be sent for analysis.

He's on the list the allergy doctor gave me even though I'm in Washington. These cavitation doctors seem to be few and far between.

I have never had the Lame Advertisement test done I went through a different one the 2 times I was tested. Has anyone used them before? 2 questions are they really pricey? did you find their results helpful?

Miamia

that is annoying the alkat test- does that work

If you see my signature, I had it done FIRST, before I knew anything about Gluten, Celiac.com, or Celiac Disease. I thought I might have a proble with tomatoes (because my doc said that tomato and spicey foods cause reflux....) and I love tomatoes, so I wanted to find out if that was true! I saw an add for it in Figure Magazine, there three of their staff had it done and their results (long story).

So I ordered the test (400ish) and THAT is how I found out about gluten. The reason I really believe in it is that no one had said anything to be about gluten before, and they picked it up with their test, and then FURTHER testing showed Celiac! So I credit that test with "saving my life"! I am NOT A SALES PERSON FOR THEM or whatever, but I did have a good experience.....

Good that you located the spots. Just massage them gently, in a circular motion. The warm compress you can use anytine you feel they'll help--but not while you're massaging.

I still get the pain--I mostly only get it on the left side of my jaw--it can give me ear pain, too. The thing that aggrevates it the worst is eating a lot of crunchy hard foods.

Thanks Andrea! The guy I'm seeing on Tuesday did a root canal on me 10 years ago...I have to say that if I need that again, it wouldn't be the worst thing. I thought it wasn't much more uncomfortable than a regular dental appointment, lol. He apparently does good work. I'll look up cavitations tomorrow when I'm at work (if I MAKE it to work...not so sure at this point) with a faster internet connection. I have a MOUTH FULL of bad metal I'm sure. More than half my teeth have fillings or crowns. Even my front tooth has a filling. :o I've often wondered if all that metal in my mouth wasn't the source of some of my problems. Reno is close enough for me to go...I have a friend that lives in Sacramento...I could go to her house and then we could hit reno, lol...she could gamble and I can have my teeth drilled. :P

Thanks Patti! I didn't notice that eating hard foods made it worse until today...course my pain level was already fairly high and I had steak and broccoli...both are something that I think of as NOT hard, lol, but apparently they are hard enough cuz it hurt my neck and jaw when I chewed. Mine is on the left side as well. I've had a lot of trouble with the left side of my neck for years...bet it's all tied in.

Donna,

How is your jaw/mouth doing today?? Any better? Hang in there and hopefully you will get some relief soon. Let us know how your appt goes and what they decide.

Hugs!!

side note- I had all my mercury fillings taken out years ago, it's one of the first things I did when I started getting sick.

I should check into this I think I have one filling It may be mercury- I should find out.

How is the histamine diet going for you julie?

I had further iron testing done this morning and tomorrow I find out the results of my 24 hr pee in a jug test.

I wonder if rachel got any of her results yet? didn't she say she had some scientificness to discuss?

If you check in Rachel- give an update.

If it's a silver color, it's an amalgam filling, which contains mercury.

Hi miamia!

How are you doing? Is your iron high or low? I was just curious given you said you eat so much spinach and I didn't know if that had any effect on blood levels or not. Keep us posted on your results.

Rachel hasn't posted her results, that I know of and yes, you are right she did mention a couple of different times she had some scientificness to post, but our President has had a busy week and weekend

My histamine diet is going really well, thanks for asking. I have noticed a huge difference- especially with my angioedema outbreaks, so I think I have finally after all these years found an answer.

UGH

They STILL dont know whats in the filter. :o

Today got a call from a rep there thats been helping us, and she played the voice mail she got from their supplier (this goes way back in to the pages on what they use as thier organic materail in thier active-carbon filters...etc), and the vendor said somthing along the lines of (NOT MAKING THIS UP!)

"Ah yess.. sounds like they have celiaces disease, like my niece does... glutens are sugars that are in alot of foods and ppl with celiac cant break it down... we used to use coconut in our filters and that has glutenes but we do not use that any more so it should not be a problem..."

And more like that :o the Vendor never did say what they use not istead of coconut! No to mention his description of celiac disease has me a bit worried about his niece! :o

So.. they promised to keep trying.... to get info out of thier suppliers.. sheesh!

Wow Julie, this is great news! :D

Thanks Andrea and Patti, but so far so good, knock on wood :D

Since I started the low histamine diet the last 2 reactions on a scale of 1-10, as far as pain and severity go, the first one was about a 4 and this last one was a .5 :D:D

Considering they were about a 15 every month on that scale for 3 1/2 years I would say that is a miracle.

Thanks for staying on top of the filter sitch Vincent.

Great news Julie!! Thats awesome that you're doing so much better. :D

I havent forgotten about my scientificness either. :P

I've been super busy and the last few weeks my moms hubby is on summer vacation from his night time teaching job....which means I dont get too much computer time after work....I have to share. I'm learning.

The scientificness has to do with some things I've learned about sulfites and sulfer foods. I'll have to refresh my memory before I post. It was alot of info. and some of it has floated away...ummmm possibly cuz I Racheled too much ice cream and bread last weekend. Went to a fair yesterday...ate a box of cookies and a small bit of chocolatey goodness.

I will have to regroup and organize my thoughts again. :P Sheeeesh....good thing I'm not really a president.....we'd all be in big trouble.:lol:

I havent gotten any results back from my histamine test...will post as soon as I get them. I usually dont get test results back until I'm at my doctor appt. I think I may have an appt. this week....need to call and check. I dont know why they dont just give me appt. reminder cards. <_<

My 24 hour urine results should definately be in by now. I had to go back to nurse Crachet to redo the blood test...I didnt do it until last Thursday. That woman is horrid....I'm now sporting a bruise on my other arm.

It's not fun sharing is it? I have to share with Mitch in the evenings.....of course if the board is slow it's real easy. :P

Can't you report that nurse to someone? :(

I've been there 3 times now and the only person I've seen there is her.

I think in the future I will just choose another lab....the psycho lab coat wearing ogre has lost my business. :P

I hope something shows up I just feel like there is more to whats going on with me than what I know as of now. well we'll see.

Hey all- Long time no post. I have been reading as much as possible though. I wanted to let you all know that my husband and I moved out of our apartment. We went to Seattle/Vancouver for ten days and when we returned we grabbed the cats, clothes and moved in with his parents while we look for a place to live. The week before we left I ended up going in for an emergency colonoscopy after over 6 weeks of D and there was NOTHING wrong with me. The night before we left, I was sitting at the kitchen table, got really nauseous and ended up vomiting for over a half hour.

While we were away we realized that something in our apartment was making me sick. I know i've mentioned this before, but it became SO apparent when we were away. I was still pretty cautious about what/where I ate (we only ate out three or four times and two places had gluten-free menus). I even cheated on my no legumes rule (I had some chocolate with soy in it and I did eat something with peanuts in it) and yes, I paid but not NEARLY as bad as I would have paid at home. Of course, I didn't cheat with gluten (no desire anyway). But I had so much more energy, felt so much better, very little nausea, the D cleared up and no night sweats. it's crazy....I just really wonder what was wrong with it (the apartment). I don't know if it was a mold problem, but I am so glad to be out of there.

I hope all is well in Rachelville and i will post again soon. Just wanted to say hi! Beverly

Wow, Bev, so glad you are out of there too! Perhaps it is the birds after all? I remember you had said the landlord fed pigeons and they left droppings on the roof or patio? Could be mold from his bird food or whatever he feeds them if he doesn't clean up the areas. I hope you find a place that is convenient, nice and safe for your health. btw, how is your hubby doing?

Also, Julie, great news! I hope you continue to improve

Mia, I hope you get some answers soon too.

Everyone --Hi and take good care!
