Bismuth (IPA: [ˈbɪzməθ]) is a chemical element that has the symbol Bi and atomic number 83. This heavy, brittle, white crystalline trivalent poor metal has a pink tinge and chemically resembles arsenic and antimony. Of all the metals, it is the most naturally diamagnetic, and only mercury has a lower thermal conductivity.

YIKES :o

Ummm...on second thought  ...I dont think I'm gonna be using Pepto to attack Lyme....I think I might just stick to my herbs. ;)

Rachel, it's kinda scary--your latest pic looks a lot like my daughter...

Yeah....I'm scared for anyone who looks like me too!!!:lol:

Which pic is it....the baby pic or the one in my avatar??

Mtndog Collaborator
You and Adam were cute together....and still are. :)

I know I asked this same question like more than 500 pages ago....but who is Mr. Darcy??

I seem to have forgotten..

Mr. Darcy is the main guy in Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Elizabeth, the main female character, meets him and thinks he is a big rude toad and then, of course, marries him. You should see the movie with Keira knightley as Elizabeth. Very sweet! And romantical!

CarlaB Enthusiast

Yes, Pride and Prejudice! The A&E one is my favorite because it's true to the book. The Keira Knightly one comes in second.

It's the same story line in Bridget Jones Diary and You've Got Mail. I saw an interview with the author of B. Jones and she said since Jane Austin was dead, she probably didn't care that she stole the story line! In You've Got Mail, they have the Pride and Prejudice book in one scene.

Makes me want to read the book that has something about "cholera" in the title because I love Serendipity and that book is part of that story line, so I'm sure it has something to do with it.

I didn't think Adam was a pompous jerk until the beginning of the next school year from when that was taken. Now when I complain about him being a jerk he says I knew that and married him anyway, so it's not a valid complaint!

Thanks! And in person, we're pretty entertaining, too. :P We know each other so well. I can predict his reaction to anything ... being the typical guy, he is still always surprised by mine ... especially since I've been sick!

We live in an old downtown and on the opposite corner of the block we're on is a local, family owned pharmacy. I get my meds there rather than supporting Kroger, Wal Mart, etc.

I picked up my Mepron tonight, actually right in the middle of dinner since it's three doors down, and came home and took it. It was a lot watery-er than usual. Even my daughter who sits next to me at the table thought so.

So I went back to the pharmacy and the pharmacist told me (and showed me) that it comes pre-mixed, he just pours it into the proper size bottles. He's going to call the manufacturer tomorrow.

I was sure to tell him that I wasn't accusing him of watering it down ... they have been around for years and years and are a very upstanding family in the community. But I'm not sure what to do about it ... I'll be glad when they put me on Malarone next month ... it's in pill form.

OMG- I remember her too and patti is right- you do look like her!

Hm, I think she's much prettier but the same color hair and eyes. I don't where makeup anymore either. :P

You, yurt....normal?! :lol::lol:

I wanted my dog to have a doggies "dreamhouse". Yeah....and then he would probably never go in it at all.

Yeah, he probably would have looked at you like "are you going to live in here?":lol:

Love everyone's new pics by the way.....I don't think I've said that recently.

Off to finish dinner......it's almost ready. :)

Well girls, I had my annual smoosh fest today (mammogram) and it hurt like heck! It doesn't usually hurt so bad, so I'm not sure what's up with that, but I've had some sore spots so maybe that's it.

I also ate corn chips.

One has nothing to do with the other but felt the need for confession.

I put up a new avatar. This one was my pledge dance at my sorority ... the same one Morgan just joined. Adam was my date ... I had just met him a couple weeks earlier ... it was spring of 1982, I was 18. We hung out together a while after that was taken, then I thought he was the biggest jerk I had ever met (Mr. Darcy), we didn't start dating until over a year later, fall of 1983.

 Cute couple!

Donna- That photo is priceless!!!!!!!!!! I have one of my mom at my sister's bachelorette that can NEVER be viewed publicly or she would come back to haunt me and then some. It's VERY funny (I'll give you hints: phallic shaped water pistol filled with substance resembling uhm....cream ). It's priceless because she has the funniest look on her face and she was THE most upstanding, dedicated catholic woman I EVER knew.

:o:lol:

Your dad was really building the house you guys lived in??

That is sooo cool. I think maybe I should have gotten into carpentry...I seriously LOVE building things. I love Home Depot. I wanted to try building a doghouse for Bear...a REAL one...like with windows and everything.

I thought I might be getting in over my head though...its probably WAY harder than it looks.....not to mention I was sick.

Stupid sickness...gets in the way of everything.

I wanted my dog to have a doggies "dreamhouse". Yeah....and then he would probably never go in it at all.

My brother also went into carpentry and for a while I thought I wanted to too, but started reading one of the text books my dad had and decided I didn't want my braint to work that hard, lol. Some people have a natural talent though. I also have a table that my dad made. I LOVE building/making stuff, but it is kind of harder than it looks.

I DID rip out a built-in vanity in my bedroom to make room for a chest of drawers. My dad was actually impressed with my work, lol. I'm glad he got to see that...he died a couple of months later.

YIKES :o

Ummm...on second thought  ...I dont think I'm gonna be using Pepto to attack Lyme....I think I might just stick to my herbs. ;)

OMGosh! Love In the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.....his stuff is wonderful-magical realism- I LOVE it. Not light reading but worth it!

Andrea- NO she is not much prettier than you (Kim Delaney)!

Rachel- Me thinks you're a beauty too and that no one should be afraid to look like you.

Donna- Sorry about the smushfest- had one recently. Didn't hurt cuz there ain't much to smoosh on me :P

CarlaB Enthusiast

Time for my smushfest, too ... will be interesting this year because there's a lot more to smush than there was last year. I have no explanation ... wish I did because I could make a fortune on whatever I did!

That's it, Love in the Time of Cholera. Does it have anything to do with the storyline of Seredipity?

AndreaB Contributor

My doctor prefers to have women go through a thermal scan. He believes it's ok for one mammogram for a baseline but also believes that having your cells squished can cause problems and cancer down the road as well. Besides, the scan picks up things much sooner where it is much more treatable.

Don't forget that root canals have also been implicated in breast cancer. Another reason I want mine out aside from the mass toxins these things produce.

That's great that your dad got to see the drawers before he died. That must have become a priceless memory for you. :)

AndreaB Contributor

I would think the smooshfest would hurt irregardless is there was a lot or little to smoosh.

jerseyangel Proficient

Oh Donna--what a picture! Priceless is right :D

Andrea--Kim Delaney has got nothing on you! ;) You're beautiful inside and out.

Squishes (smooshes) don't bother me so much--I get my usual anxiety beforehand, though....I'm not due till September.

Okay, I think the pharmacy did thin down my Mepron. The stuff I have now is thick like normal. Adam and my daughter both saw the thin stuff. I think that when the pharmacist took my stuff to the back while he was "looking" for another bottle of it that he switched mine to full strength. He was gone long enough to do that.

Then he showed me how mine poured the same as the stuff in the other bottle. Anyway, this stuff is definately thicker than it was earlier tonight.

Scary. But they were busted ... now this sale was a loss instead of a bigger than normal profit since he had to waste the Mepron he originally gave me. Prior to me they had never dispensed the medicine, so now they're stuck with it! What comes around goes around. I'm just shocked and disappointed.

I can't prove anything ... and maybe I'm wrong, but Adam says I'm just being nice ... I just can't believe they'd do that ... but then again, the pharmacist's assistant told me it was thick, and she knew it was thick because she had poured it into the bottles herself and that she'd not given me the original bottles because this way it was only two bottles instead of the three (these bottles were bigger). THEN the pharmacist told me HE filled the order himself and had poured it. They couldn't have BOTH poured it into the bottles ... something doesn't add up. This just doesn't register as I can never believe a person would lie.

Andrea....I felt really gross after I ate chicken Sat. night.

Theres something about the chicken. <_<

Its not that big a deal...I havent even eaten it in 8 months but after we talked I'm wondering if its just that particular brand of chicken??? So I wonder if all chicken makes me feel gross or just that I've been eating a gross brand??

I feel "sticky" after I eat chicken and I wake up with alot of fluid retention. <_< My hands get really sticky from eating the drumsticks. WTH?? Is chicken suppossed to be sticky like that??

Tonight when I went to WF I got my normal order of beef and then I looked at the signs for the organic chicken in the case. This is the same stuff I used to buy all the time. It said it was locally raised...in Petaluma...all of the organic chicken is from Petaluma. So then I went to look at the packages of Rosies chicken...and yeah...they're also from Petaluma....so its the same darned chickens. <_<

So what is it about these chickens...why do you think they're bad??? Do you think its something with these chickens thats not good...do you think other chicken might not be so gross??

I'm just wondering if I dont actually have a problem with chicken...just as long as I get some better quality stuff. What do you think?? Heck...there must be something wrong with it if Micah knows its gross.... but will eat the other chicken. <_<

Sheeesh...I just read my post.....I wrote the word "chicken" 13 times!!

For some odd reason every person I've had a serious relationship with was someone I strongly disliked to begin with.

Every single one of them....its strange.

Now when I really feel I cant stand someone I have to wonder in the back of my mind if I might end up in a relationship with them at some point!!

I love all the movies you named so I think I'll love the Mr. Darcy movie...I gotta see it now. :)

Corn chips actually could have something to do with it if they are really salty--if you retain water, there's more to smoosh.

Time of month is also key--apparently, mammograms are more accurate during the first 10-14 days of your cycle, as the second half of our cycles, we tend to--guess what--retain fluid, and things are harder to spot.

I love all the movies you named so I think I'll love the Mr. Darcy movie...I gotta see it now. :)

There are two VERY old Alfred Hitchcock movies you'd probably love, too:

"The Lady Vanishes" and "The Thirty-Nine Steps."

In the first one, the pretty girl even tells the man, "Ooh, you're the most contemptible man I've ever met!"

In the second one, the pretty girl ends up handcuffed to the man (who of course is totally innocent).

In both, they end up falling in love.

I think they are the inspiration for all the previously mentioned movies, with the exception of Pride and Prejudice, which was written way before.

NORMAL people don't live in yurts?

I dont think I was normal to begin with ...but now with this stupid "chemical" thing I've got going on...I'm like on a whole 'nother realm of abormalism. So yeah...I think a yurt would suit me just fine. ;)

Bev...could you design me a luxurious yurt please??? :D

I would like to have my yurt installed on the outskirts of Rachelville...right by the beach. B)

How do you put those things together anyway??

Hope they come with some good directions.

rinne Apprentice
I am going to buid me a yurt! Maybe I'll become a luxury yurt designer. donna- NORMAL people don't live in yurts? I'm normal! (oh wait- that's questionable :P ) They would have to have Lyme proofing around them. Rinne can take orders for bars and I'll take decorative yurt orders. NoGluGirl- your first.

I want a yurt too, check these ones out, there is a great story that goes with them.

I'm really sorry to hear that Carla. The scary thing is if he was willing to dilute your medicine what else might he do? How can someone receive the benefits of their medication if it is being watered down?

Oh...and here's another one...did you guy's know that ALL baking powder (except one brand) is from corn??

So if I have corn intolerance I cant have any of the gluten-free foods because almost all have corn starch/syrup, xanthan gum, and baking powder. Bummer. I'll have to bake everything. I'm getting a breadmaker for sure now!

I just joined your site and your topic grabbed my interest because I have multiple food problems. I am intolerant to gluten as well as all grasses that are on the monocots side, wheat, rye, barley, rice oats, corn, sorghum, millet and others. After eliminating gluten from my diet more problems showed up when I increased my consumption of rice crackers, or corn chips or bread made from an alternative grain. Over time I found that a great many things were adding to the problem, that lead me to investigate the botanical side of the issue.

Regarding corn, one area to be particularly careful with is dextrose used in a saline solution. Most dextrose, and all that is produce by Baxter Labs for medical use, is made from corn. Kaiser in Sacramento used this type of dextrose (even after I told them of my problem with corn) when a doctor decided in 2005 he would give me infusions of vitamins and minerals. After receiving 5 infusions and having a terrible time of it, I contacted Baxter Labs to ask about there product. They informed me it was made from corn and I took the information back to Kaiser. Needless to say no one at Kaiser (even the lab people) were aware that the dextrose was from corn. The people in the lab told me that Baxter Labs provide all of the saline with dextrose used in the Kaiser region not just at the infusion center but throughout all the hospital. Scary thought, from what I read corn allergies are not all that uncommon. Scarier is whether or not Kaiser changed there supplier or has an alternative supplier.

I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has mutliple grian intolerances.

Or anyone with an elevated lipase. I am curious about how doctors have addressed that issue

You had the wrong link to the menu, so I fixed that for you 😉. Trying to eat gluten-free at Chili's is risky due to cross-contamination, even if you go with items marked gluten-free on their menu. Every person with celiac disease has a different level of sensitivity, and you've not mentioned anything about your situation in that regard. Whenever I eat out I take GliadinX (a sponsor here), but of course, the best option would be to avoid eating out.
    • Nicbent35
She has had problems with constipation, they actually prescribed miralax for her but I have changed some other things about her diet that seemed to have helped, so I never gave it to her..but she still doesn’t always go daily
    • trents
@Nicbent35, are there any other symptoms besides altered mood when your daughter gets "glutened"? Behavior like that in children often belies physical discomfort of some kind. Does she complain of stomach aches? Is she constipated?
    • Nicbent35
Well I had a moment yesterday morning where I accidentally gave her gluten. She wanted what I was eating and I forgot and let her have a few bites of toast. It was a really bad night last night with her behavior. Will a few bites of bread influence their behavior that much or could it just be a coincidence?

Hi everyone, I'm exploring gluten-free options at various restaurants and recently came across some chatter about Chili's offering gluten-free dishes. I'm curious if anyone has tried their gluten-free options or has any insights into how safe and tasty they are. Questions to Discuss: Which dishes at Chili's are truly gluten-free? Have you experienced any issues with cross-contamination? Do you have any tips or recommendations when ordering from Chili's menu? How does the taste and portion size compare to other gluten-free restaurants? Looking forward to hearing your experiences and any advice you might have! Thanks,
