Omg...i Might Be On To Something

Recommended Posts

Hey that massage your talking about was it a Chinese abdominal massage?

If so there is a tecnique called "Chi Nei Tsang" I have had this done at least a half dozen times and feels absolutly wonderful. I actually prefer this over a regular full body massage.

It has helped with my severe constipation but not cured it. I stopped going just recently when I found out I had lyme.

I may start it up again when I start lyme treatment and see if it will help me that much more.

Anyways you can google it and see what you find

I don't know if I have asked this before...but is/has anyone done a STRICT anti-candida diet? Like, no starches, no sugar (not even in the form of fruit), not fermented foods and obviously no yeast? I ate some rocky road bark  we made for the holidays that was gluten-free, df, sf and I was so excited because I am always so restricted and then I felt awful! It was loaded with sugar as most yummy stuff is! <_< My stomach started to bloat and I got kinda spacey.

I just can't seem to find a website that explains EXACTLY what is/isn't allowed...like can I have rice cakes with turkey for lunch, etc?

(Hey Tom...are you reading this? I know you are the candida expert! :P)

I did, for six months a few years before I knew I had Lyme, I thought it was candida.

No rice cakes. I ate no carbs except for unlimited veggies. I had to eat oatmeal (pre-gluten-free) twice per week or I felt horrible with the no carbs.

Brown rice is okay ... so is oatmeal if you can have it .... that's basically all I ate for carbs, and I even restricted that.

You might be okay just cutting out the sugar ... it makes me feel like that, too .... it almost makes me feel drunk. I think it's the Lyme ... the borrelia likes the sugar, too.

Rinne!!!!! Same to you my friend!

Totally annoying! I don't like my sleep being messed with by noisy, inconsiderate people! Bad enough you don't sleep well most times as it is. :(

Yeah! My condo seems to be a commotion magnet, lol.

I'm pretty sure that I gave myself food poisoning. <_< However, there were some very interesting twists to this. Last night I accidentally left my space heater on all night and when I woke up it was about 90 degrees. I took a detox bath (sea salt) and my stomach/gi problems improved, but now they're coming back. I wonder if this could be a bacterial problem, as well, since some flovent gets into my stomach. I wonder what's going on there?

Egads, hope you are feeling better now. The excess heat may have helped you get rid of some junk...kind of like a sauna.

Tonight we're taking the kids to see Enchanted.

Oh, how was it?! I've heard good things about it. Our church is having a family movie night on January 4 and they're showing Rattatoule (sp?). I'm trying to figure out if I can borrow some kids, lol. Heck, I'm my own family...I can go, right?:lol:

Donna, so glad you had a great massage, sounds amazing. I have heard a lot of good things about the drink, maybe not the same drink but something very similar. Cucumbers are excellent kidney cleansers and celery is high in Vitamin C, patassium, and sodium and helps to eliminate excess fluid in the body. That's just the tip of the iceberg for these veggie's healing properties, so lots of good stuff.

I didn't know that about cucumbers...hum, makes me want to go grocery shopping again, lol. Oh wait, I broke my blender...okay first Target then grocery shopping.

The one I had wasn't, but I wonder if there is someone around here that does this. Must search.

I did. It was around 2004 or 2005 and I did it for 3 months. Only meat and veggies, and the veggies were low starch. I felt GREAT during this time...this was in the middle of my 3 year sinus infection cycle and my allergist thought it might be candida since nothing else seemed to explain it. I didn't have a single sinus infection during that 3 months (I was also taking nystatin pills)--personally I don't know if it was candida, celiac or the lack of casein that made the different.

I got super bored with the diet and started relaxing a bit and as soon as I did I started getting the sinus infections again...I get the infection, doc would put me on 10 days of Augmentin plus 8 days of prednisone, I'd feel better for about a week, then get another "infection" and the process would start over again...antibiotics, prednison, well, sick.

I did another version a few months later...it was a little looser in that it allowed brown rice (but only 1/2 cup a day), but it was a rotation diet. I did that for 6 months, and again felt GREAT and had NO sinus infections for the whole 6 months.

I went on a cruise at the end of that 6 months and started to eat gluten (mostly in the form of desserts though), and gained 10 pounds overnight, plus got sick...really sick. Got strep throat, an ear infection AND a SINUS infection!!!! It was at this point that I cut out gluten and casein, and since then haven't had any sinus issues, but the gut issues continued along with extreme dizziness where my brain felt disconnected and free-floating, and a host of other annoying symptoms.

That led me to this thread, lol. I know I need to get really strict...it would have been a good idea to do it while on the Humaworm, but I just couldn't do it. I still don't seem to be at that point where the sacrafice is worth it in my mind. I feel like I'm close to that point, but apparently not quite there. I actually WANT to do it, but I can't make my body cooperate, lol. I told my mom on Saturday that I intend to get strict again after Christmas, so I'm sort of committed, lol.

Well after a rough afternoon yesterday, I am feeling better today. I was so worn out that I layed down on the couch to watch some TV at about 2:00. I fell asleep for a little while (less than an hour I think), but when I "woke up" it was like I was drugged. I would try to open my eyes but couldn't. At the same time I felt absolutely HORRIBLE. Kind of sick to my stomach and in general like a truck had hit me. I think I tried for about an hour to wake myself up. Finally did but still felt a little weird for quite a while afterwards.

That all seemed to clear up by the time I went to bed, and YAY, I actually slept a bit better last night. I slept from 9-11:30, got up to use the bathroom and took my charcoal, went back to bed and to sleep. I woke up a couple more times but went right back to sleep. I finally woke up around 4, but stayed in bed until after 6, lol. I think I did doze off one more time in those two hours, but probably not for long...it just felt great to lay there in the peace and quite of no yelling neighbors and the warm toasty heated mattress pad.

Back at you Rinne! Nice to see you......wish it were a little more frequent though, but it's always nice to have you pop in. :)

Could any of that have to do with your moldy living room. Wasn't that the worst room?

Glad you got a decent night's sleep and had no noisy neighbor disturbances! :P

Hi Susie! Glad you got through the Christmas party unscathed. I hope you'll get through the depression and pop in once in a while again.

Thanks Carla! I think I am going to try a really strict diet after Christmas because I want to be able to eat something on Christmas and today at my Aunt's house. (I know, lame excuse!)

Ratatouille was a great movie Donna! I thought it was really cute.

I am going to definitely try an anti candida diet... after Christmas....lol. We can be in this together! :P

Hi Kassandra,

Don't know how I missed this yesterday, but I'll blame my having a cold.

(So strange to have a cold - at least I think it is - after not having one for so many yrs. I'm talkin maybe not since the 90s!)

Yes, I did the strictest possible anti-candida diet for at least 18mos. It was probably overkill, since soy turned out to be such a major issue. If I'd quit soy back then, I wonder if only 1 month would've been enough to feel good.

Sorry about the reaction to the sugary thing I've never heard of.

Anyway, for the diet's specifics, I ended up using a combination of ~5 websites and 4 or 5 books. EVERY diet has differences, w/ some seeming to totally contradict others.

Didn't do ricecakes, as all I'd see was white rice ones.

I'll find the urls for the sites, but I also have to - typical guy here (and a little sick) - go do some xmas shopping.

I haven't even expanded much off the strict diet. I don't need more food choices more than I like feeling good. I figure the more testing I do, the more likely I am to fail the tests and feel crappy for a couple days. Maybe I should be looking to do ASYRA, actually. :)

More later.

Carla,

How's the cold coming along? Feel any better?

Donna,

Maybe tonight's the night you'll get some sleep? :)

Everyone,

Have a great, and safe, holiday!

My side of the family had our annual gorge fest and gift exchange on Saturday. It was the first since the majority of my health stuff started popping up. My brother was an ass, of course (You can't eat stuff! That's so funny! HAHAHA!). I successfully suppressed any urges to kill and only wished him minor bodily damage. Had one minor meltdown when people started dipping crackers in the hummus (which I brought so I could eat something besides dairy-based dips), in spite of repeated requests they use a spoon. I also took a gluten-free pasta salad which went over well. Material gains were impressive and, overall, it was a good visit in spite of two minor glitches.

Tonight, when hubby gets home from work at 11pm, we're heading out to his parents'. We'll get there around 1am, do the gift thing, and then head home. We'll probably get home around 5am and spend the next few hours dead to the world. And then he has to get up and be in a work again at 3.

I hope his managers get coal in their stockings this year.

Hey, that's GREAT! I didn't have a cold for a couple years, now I've gotten two of them in two months. That's a good thing .... means your immune system is working!

I'm getting a little Lyme flare now ... sore muscles and a little tired .... of course, the sore muscles could be from racquetball, LOL.

Carla,

How's the cold coming along? Feel any better?

Not yet ... a little worse ... I took an herbal expectorant today because my chest hurts.

I hope everyone has a blessed Christmas!

Morgan informed me that it's not the Lyme, it's the racquetball .... she hurts, too.

My kitchen is a cookie factory today, the girls are cooking all kinds of cookies and decorating them.

Christmas starts at 5:30 for us ... that's when we'll go to Mass. :)

Sounds like so much fun! I babysat on Saturday night and we made sugar cookies and the kids decorated them...it was a lot of fun! We are going to my Aunts house tonight and we are also celebrating my grandma's b-day...she is 87, so I bought 88 candles to decorate her cake with!

Tom, I hope you get over your cold soon! And, I hope you don't get glutened at your sisters house (I read on the silly thread about the crumbs everywhere...I get it! That's my house all the time...lol. B)

Everyone,

I had a terrible nights sleep...didn't fall asleep until 2.45 and woke up at 9! UGHHH! I am going to blame it on Christmas excitement (it's my favorite time of year...even though I am Jewish!:rolleyes::lol:)

I am just really weak and having realllly bad air hunger. It's no fun! And, it doesn't help that the nurse told me if I have sudden shortness of breath that means the PICC line is broken and a piece of the catheter fell into my heart...so I freak out! Every time I get air hunger I start to think it's the PICC and it scares the ^&*(& out of me!

Does she know that lyme can also cause this and that you have lyme?

Andrea,

No...the nurse is at my Hematologists office and we haven't "let that cat out of the bag" yet with them because we want more WB results before we do that. I know it's probably fine, but I just have been really short of breath a lot lately and it always makes me think about what she said.

Andrea, that is a wonderful picture of your kids...they are so adorable. Can't wait to meet you all.

Sorry about the colds for you, Carla and Tom.

Donna and Kassandra, I'm with you on the after Christmas strict diet. I've been getting too much sugar...and right now, with no antifungals, that's probably at least part of the cause of my symptoms. I am fatigued, brain fog, and having muscle pain. All my lyme symptoms and at maybe 40%. Very few better days in the last three weeks.

Andrea, love the new av. (Did I see that one on the wall or somewhere? It seems familiar :) )

And I get a laugh out of seeing a hand on the little guy's shoulder, considering he'd busted loose in the shot I took.

Kassandra,

I'm far from a candida expert. I've treated one patient. :)

Besides these diet sites, and numerous other info sites, I went through 5 or 6 books from the library.

The books had good explanations of what was going on and more die info and recipes.

You may want to check your local library too. :)

You'll quickly see that many of these diets aren't Gluten-free Casein-free etc.

There's conflicting info between them all. :(

But all DO agree on sugar/sweeteners, yeast, fermented, vinegar.

I expect all the links to still be working, but some I may not have used in a while.

Ones I didn't agree w/ so much get an "eh" or other comments. But not one of them seemed to suit me 100%.
