If I Thought I Knew The Meaning Of Pain...

I think tonite when I get home from writing this final I am going straight to the hospital (to ER).

As of yesterday, it hurts to um...poop. And I have been going as often as I always do, so its not like i was constipated or anything, but yeah...such severe pains I thought I was going to scream.

Then I tried to eat supper (at 10 pm) and I ate half a sandwich because I was hungry, and just that half a sandwich made me cry. :(

So I'm going to go and demand something. I havent been eating lunch til 4 pm or so, because Id fail these tests otherwise. And i feel sick enough all the time anyways that I can barely even study.

So I'm going to ER and if they only do bloodwork and urine sample and nothing else and press on my VERY VERY sore tummy, i am going to scream.

I'll let everyone know how it goes later (if anybody wants to..)

Sorry to hear you are in such pain. Been there, know what you are feeling.

You've been gluten-free for a while now, your sig indicates 2003. Have you continued to have symptoms since going gluten-free?? Perhaps you have Refractory sprue. My understanding is that this form of celiac doesn't go into remission with the gluten-free diet.

Lisa--you poor thing! I was wondering how you were doing. Still no better, I see :( . Definately keep us posted--of course we care! I really hope this time you will get a doctor who is willing to do what it takes to figure this thing out, and get you feeling better. ;)

Hey I feel your pain- I had to go to the ER for the same thing a few weeks ago (I was in so much pain my mom thought my appendix was rupturing, it ended up being I was full of stools even though I had being going a few times a day. They gave me stool softeners but it didnt really help..but the morphine helped the pain when I was in there  ) Im also going through finals this week and am feeling ill. I hope you feel better and good luck on your finals!

If you scream enough, and tremble and sweat and lie on your side in a fetal position and just look spaced out, maybe they will actually believe that you are sick and help you. Good luck, I hope you get better soon.

OK so I went to the hospital tonite, to ER..and actually got the nurse who knows me good, so she believed my answers. I told her about how I havent been on any meds, have had this problems since the end of January, and schools been really tough because of it, and as of yesterday I couldnt take it anymore..

So she checked my pulse and blood pressure: good.

Calls the doctor to get him to come back to the hospital and in the mean time the do the rest...

Bloodwork

X-Rays of my tummy

Urine Sample

...in the end none of these show anything, tell me everything is normal

Then the doctor says he'll give me a prescription for Prednasone/Buscopan for a little while, and to get a shot of Buscopan  I had a choice between the butt or the arm, so I got it in the arm. She told me that my vision would be blurry for a while but gees I didnt think I'd turn me half blind. I couldnt see anything I was looking at. I could see far off in the distance but anything up close it was impossible, regardless of how much I focused on it. and this lasted for quite a while, and even know like 4 hours later my eyes are still bugging me. Its so weird.

And he still says I have to wait to the specialist otherwise I'll never know an answer. Great to hear (NOT).

And thats about it. I'm still dying of pain (think the shot just made me feel more dopy than anything else), and i guess tomorrow i'll start talking the actual pills...again.

Did the prednisone help any??

It's a general steroid that typically suppresses immune responses. they had me on 20mg twice a day for a while, and it did abate the symptoms and hence the pain...

not something you want to tak every day for the rest of your life due to other side effects.

Meh I am feeling OK only...well eventually the pain does come back by the end of the day, and my exam today and the one yesterday I am sure i didnt do all that well on because of how much the prednisone/buscopan throw my mind out of whack.

I just want an answer, if I can get in the next 4 months before I start my next year of college that would be the greatest thing ever...

Lisa,

I'm so sorry you're feeling horrible. I almost didn't finish graduate school because I was so sick. I know how hard it is to go to classes and feel awful. when is your doctor appointment? I really hope you can find out the source of your pain soon.

Hi Lisa:

Are you feeling any better? It took me about 3 years to really feel better and only after taking a dose of steriods for something else. Can you go to a different doctor? Sometimes because we are women they don't take us serious, or chalk everything up to depression/stress. It is quite frustrating, let me know if I can help. I think they can find Chrons with a blood test but I am not sure

No, I never feel better...I'm going to talk to my MLA this week without any question, tell him whats going on. I cant like this forever (and like I keep saying it may be 2007 before I get a colonoscopy done)..If you used any messagers that would be an easy way to help, to talk to you that way!
