Dear Ms.

Thank you for contacting us about K.C. Masterpiece BBQ Sauce - Honey Teriyaki. We always appreciate hearing from our consumers. Our products do contain trace amounts of gluten, usually derived from a corn starch. Wheat is on our allergen listing, so in order for it to be in or product it does have to be specially marked on the back label.

Again, thank you for contacting us.

Sincerely,

Katie O' Brien

What do you think? If someone is not sensitive to corn, would it be okay?

Carla

from the email its safe as long as wheat is not listed on the ingredients list.

I don't know....I usually dodge manufacturers who tell me their product is/isn't gluten-free when I can tell from their response that they don't even know what gluten is. Gluten from corn starch???? I love the product; I don't trust the information.

Actually, there is such a thing as corn gluten. Of course, this is not the gluten we have to be concerned with as Celiacs. I've gotten this response from companies (including drug companies) before--I think they are just being honest.

Yep, corn starch does indeed have gluten. Not a gluten celiacs have to worry about, but technically it's "gluten."

Thanks for sharing Scott. Congratulations on having a gluten-free daughter as well makes me proud

My daughter is 19 and is gluten-free, and for her high school seemed to be the hardest period to deal with. Peer pressure was intense and it sometimes led her to cheat on her diet. She is doing much better with it now.

Do you have officially diagnosed celiac disease? Or are you not a celiac but gluten sensitive?
    • Gluten Free Jeff
In general I guess. I wasn't gluten free until I graduated highschool.

Welcome to the forum, @Gluten Free Jeff! Are you asking this for yourself or for someone else say, as their parent?
