Ok, I have a question...or a couple.. Can we eat any butter that we want? Also I heard that the Crunchy Cheetos are gluten free but when I read the label I am not sure.

I am new to this and have not been dx with celiac disease yet but really think I have it. Wheat has always gave me a few hives but then so did other foods. To make a long story short as I can....In Dec. I got my hives back again along with a dry mouth but before all of this remember being very sick to my stomach like never before and had to go #2 ALOT...Anyway that went away and now I am left with thumbs moving towards my fingers, twitches all over my body all the time at rest, muscles are very tight, rigid left arm when curling downward, shoulders and neck also now rigid, started with pins and needles and now when I smile my left eye twitches. My Dr. has told me this is extreme anxiety in which I have had but I am telling him it is because of the symptoms I am having. I went to Neuro Dr. he says not MS but cannot have MRI because I have a heart defib implant, which is turned off by the way because in Sept it malfunctioned and shocked me 35 times. ...so I am going to have a EMG done and some other things but does this sound like Ataxia to anyone...OR celiac disease? I have also had internal tremors but now gone but still have this buzzing or wierd sensation on triceps and back, neck...Anyway that is my story any info please....I know I have to get tested which I am asking for tomorrow when I see my Dr. I am so scared that I have Ataxia....Anyway still need to know about the butter which I have been eating along with Cheetos, the butter is sweet butter from Food Club..Thank you. Jenn

According to Frito Lay's website, *most* of their recipes are gluten-free. Stax are the only product that is produced on completely gluten-free lines. The other products do carry a risk of cc. I've not personally had a problem with Cheetos, Fritos, Doritos, or Lays.

I haven't heard of any butter we can't have.

I've read that there are connections betweek Celiac and epilepsy, so I can see it being possible that your symptoms could be related to vitamin deficiencies. Sounds like you've got lots of testing ahead of you. Good luck.

This could be nerve damage from celiac but it could be other stuff too. It does not however sound like ataxia, more like neuropathy. Ataxia makes you feel like you are very off balance and on the verge of falling. While you are trying to figure all this out it won't hurt to immediately start taking a sublingual B12 vitamin in addition to your regular gluten-free multi. I had ataxia and neuropathy (and lots of other stuff) that were celiac related and was on canadian canes before diagnosis. I am now almost free of nerve problems, only a couple remain, but it took 6 months before I had a real difference. Make sure you also check your toiletries for gluten ingredients and beware of CC.

Still pretty new to this Forum. Im 49 and been on the gluten-free diet on my own for 2 1/2 years after suffering severe Ulcerative Colitis since 89.

You mentioned a regular gluten-free multi? Are you talking One A Day which are gluten-free or is there a special gluten-free multi?
