Does anyone know which gene-DQ2 or DQ8-is present in 40% of the general population? I read at one point that that is the case & can not remember or find which gene it is. I have DQ2 with active disease & just got results for my half-sisters: one has DQ2 & the other has DQ2 & DQ8!! Thank you

I just started reading Celiac Disease, A hidden epidemic by Peter H. R. Geen, M.D. and on page 72 is says "... 30 percent of the general population have HLA-DQ2, -DQ8 lymphocytes, while only about 1 percent get celiac disease." Hope this helps.

Also a good explanation of Blood Tests on page 45. Got the book from the Library and I'm only about 1/3 done. Looks like good info. so far.
