For the past several months, as the posted, I have been experiencing a great deal of discomfort. Discomfort very similar to being pregnant ( God forgid, at my age). When undressing, it is like the "milk" has dropped...as post delivery.

Anyone out there with the same issues.

I have heard that it may be difficult getting pregnant with Celiac, perhaps there is a hormone issue going on here. Is there any research on this issue thay any of you are aware of.

thanks, Lisa

I had a lot of breast tenderness after about a month gluten-free, went on the board to ask about it, & several members mentioned they had gained a cup size... sure enough, my bras were too small, hence the discomfort... never would have occurred to me, but my feeling was just like yours, undressing at night felt much as it did when pregnant or nursing.

Try going braless for a day & see how you feel-- that's how I figured it out. I felt instant relief.

I guess I should mention that I'm not post-menopausal-- but I still think you might be in the same situation.

It must be the same feeling. But to increase another cup size, whooh as I already am at a D. With additional breast size, stomach bloating, and still very slim limbs. I LOOK LIKE A WATERMELLON ON TOOTHPICKS!!

Interested in the hormone effect...tiffany, always has the anwsers.

It is not a pretty sight, and quite a bit depressing......feeling pissy tonight. I think I will go eat worms.

No worm-eating please! Try chocolate instead!

Though I guess going over D will make it harder to find bras... still, better a new bra than pain!!

This is "vedddy interesting" as I have been wondering why I have such difficulty finding a bra that fits correctly anymore. I have been gluten-free for a few years but the past 2 years every bra is too small or too big...nothing just right.

(Anybody remember what show the quote is from and who said it?) :)

I have always hated bras! I wear the body tops by Nancy Gaanz and they are so comfortable. Lisa, sounds like hormones. Have you tried evening primrose oil softgels? Taking enough omegas? I used to have that and it is not fun. I think stress plays a big part in it. When I can't figure out what to do I take an epson salt bath. I don't have the cup size issue and if the body tops would help you but it might be worth a try. Hope you feel better :)

I've been a "C" for years. Recently, I realized that the tenderness that I was experiencing was maybe not all due to impending menopause. I think there may be a link to the gluten-free diet--at least for me.

I find I now need a "D" cup--After trying a couple different brands/styles, I found a style that is very comfortable--it's by Bali and called "Downtime".

Hi Lisa:

I know we have talked about it before and I have the same problem. When I take my bra off my breasts hurt and I have a lot of burning behind the nipple area. I went to the doctor last year and the mammogram came out fine so I really have no idea. I also had what looked like discharge but the doctor is stumped. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it and it's not the bra size.

Tavi, I think burning means inflamation. I take noni juice to prevent that and I hope it improves my immune

system. I can tell when I don't take it. Less energy. Not sure about the discharge. I had it awhile back but it went away.

No burning here....thank goodness. Maybe hormones or just two pups that need to be free :P

It is about time for me to get a full blood panel to see where I am after one year diognosed. That will be on my agenda along with the house, new house, trashing and burning, selling and dealing with my friends and neighbors who want to know everything. Whoooah.

Still, interested in a hormone aspect of celica.

Um, about this increase...it hasn't happened to me--who do I complain to?

He is not just a psychiatrist.  He is also a neuroscientist.  And yes, I have already read those studies.   I agree with benfotiamine.  This is short term while glutened/inflammation occurs.  As I had already mentioned, these symptoms no longer exist when this phase passes.  And yes, I know that celiac is a disease of malnutrition.  We are working with a naturopath.

Please do more research before you settle on nicotine. Dr. Paul New house is a psychiatrist.  His latest study involves the effect of nicotine patches on Late Life Depression which has reached no long term conclusions about the benefits.   Effects of open-label transdermal nicotine antidepressant augmentation on affective symptoms and executive function in late-life depression https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39009312/   I'm approaching the subject from the Microbiologist's point of view which shows nicotine blocks Thiamine B1 uptake and usage:   Chronic Nicotine Exposure In Vivo and In Vitro Inhibits Vitamin B1 (Thiamin) Uptake by Pancreatic Acinar Cells https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26633299/   While supplementation with thiamine in the form Benfotiamine can protect from damage done by  nicotine: Benfotiamine attenuates nicotine and uric acid-induced vascular endothelial dysfunction in the rat https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18951979/   I suggest you study the beneficial effects of Thiamine (Benfotiamine and TTFD) on the body and mental health done by Dr. Derrick Lonsdale and Dr. Chandler Marrs.  Dr. Lonsdale had studied thiamine over fifty years.   Hiding in Plain Sight: Modern Thiamine Deficiency https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8533683/ I suggest you read their book Thiamine Deficiency Disease, Dysautonomia, and High Calorie Malnutrition.     Celiac Disease is a disease of malabsorption causing malnutrition.  Thiamine and benfotiamine: Focus on their therapeutic potential https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10682628/

Thanks for your response.  Everything you mentioned he is and has been doing.  Tobacco is not the same as nicotine.  Nicotine, in the form of a patch, does not cause gastrointestinal irritation.  Smoking does. He is not smoking.  Please do your research before stating false information. Dr. Paul Newhouse has been doing research on nicotine the last 40 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have. It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.

@Martha Mitchell, your reaction to the lens implant with gluten sounds like it could be an allergic reaction rather than a celiac reaction. It is possible for a celiac to be also allergic to gluten as it is a protein component in wheat, barley and rye.
