Skin Testing - Anyone Have A Reaction?

Recommended Posts

I had a negative blood test for wheat and glutens. A negative biopsy as well, though I'd gone gluten-free about a month or so before the biopsy. I'm determined to prove an allergy to my doctors (my only confirmed blood allergy test is eggs). I was just wondering if any of you had a reaction to the skin testing, be it trouble breathing, soreness, swelling, or GI related. I have equivocal anti-striatal muscle antibodies and I'm just scared to death, my reactions have been so severe. Thanks!

I have had positive reactions on skin prick tests, but nothing more than large mosquito bite like hives. I would talk to your doctor about the safely of the test since I have read that serious reactions are possible.

I've been meaning to go have allergy testing, I had wondered the same thing, if problems with gluten, dairy etc would show up on and allergy test.

I have heard there are other tests apart from the skin scratch test like where they take a finger prick and test the blood itself, sounds safer.
