I just have migraines every so often SINCE I got preggers with LUCAS years ago...

Ok, first, I just sold all my baby stuff, like the double stroller, and now a bunch of friends mistakenly think I'm pregnant.... This is shaping up to be scary.

Susie is pretty sure she is NEVER having a date again. BAH!!!!!!!!!!!! (way too picky in my old age + paucity of men = Susie Dying Alone)

Susie, seeing how women, in general, outlive their husbands, we're all pretty much dying alone . . . that's why I have made arrangements to be committed to live in the same mental old age facility as my best friend. That way we can keep each other company and complain to each other about how our children never call and that the food taste like crap.

Ok...so here is a somewhat humilating moment of my day.

Let me start with the positive, the other day John and I went to Kohl

Heinous slobishness!

 ..this makes me chuckle from Patti..........but who the heck poo's next to the toilet bowl????????:unsure:

For me, hillbilly heroin would be biscuits and gravy-- otherwise known in my house as "Heart Attack on a Plate." Sooooo good, and utterly verboten these days!

Biscuits??? (which are sweet here) with gravy...........EWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!

That's just WRONG!!!!!!!

Cardiac country around here is brought on by the famous Quebeqois Poutine. French fries with thick gravy, then mounds of melted mozzerella topping it off. Ate many a plateful while pregnant, then felt just sick....

Again, WRONG!!!! ....chips with gravy??????.....no No NO!!!...they will go soggy

Around here you can get a salad with french fries and gravy on top.....talk about fattening!

...limp soggy lettuce with gravy

If I must clog my arteries it MUST be with double CREAM in some sort of cake!!!!!!!! :P

OMIGOD Sarah's PREGGERS!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats darlin'!!!! :D:lol:

Had me going there for a tic Ptaum,..........bloody hell!!..had Sarah in a COLD SWEAT!!!!!!!:lol:

So I just had to run down to the hospital pharmacy to exchange drugs.

They do that there?? Can I bring in whatever I want and exchange it for something better?? I'm sure I've got some leftover stuff in the drawer and I can thing of much better drugs to have lying around than old antibiotics.

DingoGirl Enthusiast
No Gluten? or No Reaction? . . . There's a difference, you know.

:o

oh dear gawd.......but........if it's a SMALL amount of gluten - I would have a reaction.....(unlike the time I ate half a pizza  - just got depressed for two weeks)

Oh . . . I think those are elephant ears, here. . . . does it start out deep fried?

 probably not.....a distinctly southern US tradition

    Lemme know where it is - I'll join you and get my other old lady friends

So I just had to run down to the hospital pharmacy to exchange drugs. So I am walking by the parking office and a woman whom I am friendly but do not see on a daily basis yells out to me, come back here. So I walk back. She says to me, wow, are you

Had me going there for a tic Ptaum,..........bloody hell!!..had Sarah in a COLD SWEAT!!!!!!!:lol:

 I'm still recovering.

Biscuits her in the southern US are like... sorta like dinner rolls, but not.

Oh and the gravy is MILK gravy... with sausage in it. Yummy. :P

Well, I'm off to go pick up the youngins I DO have from school.

Amanda is not preggers yet sorry....:( We are trying though....

Congrats to Sarah thought!!!!

No we have to return unused study drugs in order to pick new ones up here :)

   absolutely brilliant idea.........let's round up all of our unwanted drugs, Jess can go as emissary and fill our requests.....

Nicola - - biscuits here are the most YUMMY YUMMY EVIL flaky baked flour-y....rolls? how do we explain a biscuit? 'tis a sticky, yeasty dough rolled out flat, cut into circle shapes and then baked - hence puffing up to many times their volume........absolutely DIVINE w/ butter and jam, butter and honey..........mygawd.........I actually think that is what I miss MOST OF ALL.......... :( People slather gravy on them - very southern - that is slightly vomitous to me but certainly would eat it, without complaining.........

I think biscuits in England are what we call cookies?

No matter what, I always clean up afer myself--at least leave the place as clean as you found it

Yes, I think so...that would explain Nikki's distain for the idea of covering them with gravy :D

:o BEV! Well I don't know about YOU, but *I* am NOT obsessed w/ dog nuts.....I mean, Annie doesn't even have any for Peter's sake.........

 that's how I read it too . .. ..even took a moment to scan memory for "pets+testicle" and only came up w/ Nikki's cat (is that right?) THEN came the synonymical connection to aficionado

- - and I must say, I was partaking in a GIANT basket of fries from DEDICATED fryer at Nepenthe last Sunday :)

Ahhhhhhh Nepenthe <contented sigh> :)

I must head south soon .. . . .. .

TOM - - NO GLUTEN in the rice bowls at El Pollo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

1) Phew!!!!!! :face-of-relief-guy:

2) Why didn't I KNOW this?

3) I can have something new!!!??

4) Ahhh dang, I'm sure it has ingred I won't eat (yet) :(

I had El Pollo Loco monday. Yum!

But only because I'd forgotten to defrost anything. It's still a thrill every time I get to eat w/out doing the cooking. Which reminds me :D , dinner at Shelly's tonight. Her 8y.o. got an elec guit from santa so we're gonna jam!!!!

And speaking of music, today feels a LOT like a sax day!!!!! (Boehv?? That's an A, not an E! )

Here's a bit of silly - ran into an old notebook where I'd made a note of something a friend's 4 or 5 y.o. (at the time) said years ago.

For whatever reason, I'd said something in Pig Latin and she said "huh?". So I told her it was Pig Latin.

She says "I don't care how they talk in Pigland" I was rofl!!

Last year I walked into the womans bathroom at work and someone left a log on the floor next to the toliet.

 ..this makes me chuckle from Patti..........but who the heck poo's next to the toilet bowl????????:unsure:

Obviously a hoverer with poor aim . . . or perhaps in mid-hover, the purse she was balancing on her head started to slide. In an effort to keep her purse from hitting the floor, she lost sight of her target . . . so to speak.

If I must clog my arteries it MUST be with double CREAM in some sort of cake!!!!!!!! :P

I'm totally with Nikki on this one.

Hey Colleen!!! Way to stick it to the man!

Now, I bought one in the summer - took one look at myself in the mirror and thought NO WAY!!!!!!! - off it came - it didn't look like THAT on the model  ........but I am annoyed that all these smocky tops weren't in vogue when I was [i/] pregnant

Gawd--so true.....when I was pregnant (back in the dark ages) there were no cute maternity clothes. All frightful billow-y blouses with puffy sleeves and bows at the neck <_< I did a lot of maternity jeans and Mark's shirts

I also bought one of those tops last summer--I think it's because I'm kinda short, but it did resemble a maternity top...of course at my age I'm sure no one was fooled

During my first pregnancy, I wore several men's shirts instead of maternity shirts. One of the guys I worked with complimented me on one in particular. I told him it was a men's shirt to which he stood up and proclaimed "I call dibs on Janet's shirt when she's done being pregnant!"

tom Contributor
HOLY COW!!!! I totally missed that hint . . . and TOM, of all people firgured it out!!! (no offense, Tom, just figured it would be a gal). Congratulations, Sarah!!!!

ROFL I was just makin' s*** up to tease her a tic (Nikki? This means a bit?? ) but now can't lose this sh**-eating grin (what a horrible term!! Especially considering Bev's hinted-at grossout a few pages back) from seeing all the posts it prompted!!

He is not just a psychiatrist.  He is also a neuroscientist.  And yes, I have already read those studies.   I agree with benfotiamine.  This is short term while glutened/inflammation occurs.  As I had already mentioned, these symptoms no longer exist when this phase passes.  And yes, I know that celiac is a disease of malnutrition.  We are working with a naturopath.

Please do more research before you settle on nicotine. Dr. Paul New house is a psychiatrist.  His latest study involves the effect of nicotine patches on Late Life Depression which has reached no long term conclusions about the benefits.   Effects of open-label transdermal nicotine antidepressant augmentation on affective symptoms and executive function in late-life depression https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39009312/   I'm approaching the subject from the Microbiologist's point of view which shows nicotine blocks Thiamine B1 uptake and usage:   Chronic Nicotine Exposure In Vivo and In Vitro Inhibits Vitamin B1 (Thiamin) Uptake by Pancreatic Acinar Cells https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26633299/   While supplementation with thiamine in the form Benfotiamine can protect from damage done by  nicotine: Benfotiamine attenuates nicotine and uric acid-induced vascular endothelial dysfunction in the rat https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18951979/   I suggest you study the beneficial effects of Thiamine (Benfotiamine and TTFD) on the body and mental health done by Dr. Derrick Lonsdale and Dr. Chandler Marrs.  Dr. Lonsdale had studied thiamine over fifty years.   Hiding in Plain Sight: Modern Thiamine Deficiency https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8533683/ I suggest you read their book Thiamine Deficiency Disease, Dysautonomia, and High Calorie Malnutrition.     Celiac Disease is a disease of malabsorption causing malnutrition.  Thiamine and benfotiamine: Focus on their therapeutic potential https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10682628/

Thanks for your response.  Everything you mentioned he is and has been doing.  Tobacco is not the same as nicotine.  Nicotine, in the form of a patch, does not cause gastrointestinal irritation.  Smoking does. He is not smoking.  Please do your research before stating false information. Dr. Paul Newhouse has been doing research on nicotine the last 40 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have. It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.
    • trents
@Martha Mitchell, your reaction to the lens implant with gluten sounds like it could be an allergic reaction rather than a celiac reaction. It is possible for a celiac to be also allergic to gluten as it is a protein component in wheat, barley and rye.
