Must announce the arrival of my neice this morning--just about an hour ago.

Well, congratulations! Garsh, I love that new baby smell <<sniff>>

Must lose 10 pounds STAT - summer's coming - gads -

do you guys have cats that just YELL when they want something?

10 lbs.? I wish. Criminey, I haven't been this plump in a long, long time.

From a magnet on my MIL's fridge:

"Ewe's not fat, ewe's just fluffy"

Buttercat doesn't scream--she enunciates. My dog Max cries like a wookie. We call him 'Chewbacca'. It is most pathetic.

No.....sigh. . . .. . . ....just kids. . . . ......an' they're not NEARLY as endearing . .. ..... <_<

I hear ya, sister <<sigh>>

Decapitated squirrels? Y-uck!

Welcome to the ville-age, Cate. What's your kittehs name? Does he/she like catnip? :)

p.s.

Max (yeah, that's his ugly mug up there in my av), has run through some of his own poo in the yard and now we must wrestle him into the tub--argh.

OMG.......The Word has been mentioned.. . . . .!! Rae-chull, you need to put the word "wookie" into a search on this forum....a number of Psillies were involved in an unforgettable thread, before there was a Psillyville. Bevel! I remember your contributions there!!:lol:

Didn't Chewbacca actually do this, as well, in the fourth Star Wars installment?? Forget the name.....they had landed on some bizarre planet, Chewey jumped out of the ship to do his business, ran tnrough some alien brush and scrub. . . . . . . ..

He got back in the capsule, and Luke was SOOO pissed. . . . . . . ..."Ya gotta be more careful, Chewy!!! Ewwwwwwww!!!"

JoDog's home with about a 5 inch incision in her knee that is stapled together. Looks Frankensteinish. Apparently she has not done well with the pain medications . . . great <_< . . . they gave her some antinausea stuff and want me to try and get her to eat before I try and give her anything. Also gave me advice like . . . "Most dogs won't let you, but it would be helpful to ice down her knee three or four times a day" Also . . . "You need to do physical therapy twice a day by moving her leg in her normal range of motion . . . but be careful, she won't like it and some dogs will bite" . . . won't even go into the cost!!! GAHHHHHH!!!!!!! This is going to be a great six weeks.

Ummmm . . . she did eat for me though . . . :) . . . and now she's sacked out.

jerseyangel Proficient

Jan-it, maybe part of it is that she is just plain more relaxed at home and with you feeding her. Hopefully, this will hold true with the physical therapy, too ;)

Poor wil' thing :(

My reaction to Max's poopcapades aren't quite so humourous. My neih-bores think his name is Lamotte because they hear me out there yellin "You big dummy!" at him all the time.

And...

one more entry in the "Nipper's Anonymous" (because Emily's was just so freakin...hilarious)

and then I'll stop ;) because Buttercup is not amused.

Big Tom: It's taken over my whole life, man... . . . ..I rarely groom myself when I'm on the stuff. . . . . .... .my purring sounds like sitar music.... . . ..I crap in that box, stare at it, and the thought of burying it in litter just strikes me as hilarious, so I just leave it...... .I leave it, man!!!

Buttercup: My, Big Tom, you are a strapping lad, aren't you? What big...paws you have...

And now, pee-pull, let's wrap it up. Be sure to come to next weeks meeting--we have a very special guest. A representative from the Flea-Baggers Society will be here to give a talk on "Vaccination Without Representation".

Oh yeah, and Suze said "Crikey", which just struck me as :P:D:lol:

Food's here, gotta go :)

Gooooood Morning, Peeps!

What in hell? NO posts after 8:20 pm last night??:huh:

The Ripper is joining a new baseball league today, so he has his evaluation in our nearby sports dome this aft. This is a bigger league, comprising a larger chunk of the city than the last community group. He is very excited, for one reason only:

He gets a complete uniform. Pants an' everything.

And.....he must wear a jock.

He did not even know what this was, and has had ensuing mixed emotions.

Good morning everybody :) It is a spectacular sunny morn here in the suburbs of Dey-trois. It was actually warmer outside than inside yesterday for the first time in about 6 months. B)

There is a petite little female mallard duck hanging out in my front landscaping. She and her mate have been around for about a week, which is odd because there aren't really any water sources.

My hubby and I are both taking a vacation day this week to chaperone a 3rd grade field trip to

Greenfield Village/Henry Ford Museum. The beautiful spring weather and the upcoming trip got me thinking about the incredibly rich culture here in my home state. Not much phunny here, but I'd really like to share a bit with you.

My ancestors were mostly Polish immigrants (some Russian and German), my husband's were French, English, and French Canadian Indians. My husbands grandfather was a full-blooded Indian, Ojibwe to the best of our knowledge.

My father retired from Ford, my grandfather from General Motors. One grandpa owned a bar right smack in downtown Detroit, another owned a Jewish butcher shop. The family home on Grand Avenue is legendary. My husband still works for Chrysler, my brother still works on the line at GM.

I was raised on local lore and history--Henry Ford, Greenfield Village, Indian history, lumbering, the story of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Spent much time travelling the state as a child, seeing the sights and nurturing a lifelong love affair with Great Lakes culture.

Michigan has offered innumerable contributions to US history and popular culture--Motown, Industry, workers rights, civil rights. The Fords, the Dodges, Malcolm X, too many artists to list (such as Bob Seger, Eminem, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin.) I've written quite a bit about this theme, both in fiction and non. I wrote a 5 page article about a man named Colonel Waldon, who was a surprising and little known contributor to much of our local infrastructure and national auto/air industries and government; to my pride, excerpts were published in a local paper.

Anyway, just wanted to share a little. If you are so inclined, take a look at the attached link. It tells a bit of the immigrant history of Detroit I mentioned. (I love the first photo, of the Polish immigrants. Looks my peeps!)

Have a great day! I'll be back with some psilly later, after the Sam's Club errand and the kitchen scrubbing :)

Nice history recap. My ancestors were polish immigrants as well, on my mom's side. Dad's family came over on the Mayflower.

Went out with a ferry friend after work yesterday and had several martinis, but alas, no keyboard to pass along the humor.

Loverly morning here. Must aim for something productive.

Hi Trents-Thanks for reading and sharing insight.  We need all the help we can get and it's super appreciated.  She is currently dairy, soy and oat free and those have mostly been completely excluded from her diet since the diagnosis (we tried going back on dairy and oats at different times for a bit, didn't see a significant difference but have now cut out again just to be extra safe since her issues are so persistent.  We did cut eggs out for about 3 months and didn't notice significant difference there, either.  The only one we haven't specifically cut out completely for any portion of time is corn, however, we've kept it minimal in all of our diets for a long time.  She definitely goes 3-4 weeks without any corn products at times and still has issues, but I'm guessing that's not long enough to confirm that it isn't causing issues.   We could definitely try to go longer just to double check.  Thanks again!

Ok so know one knows about cross reactions from yeast, corn, potatoes, eggs, quinoa ,chocolate, milk, soy, and a few more I forgot.  There all gluten free but share a similar structure to gluten proteins. I use to be able to eat potatoes but now all of a sudden I was stumped and couldn't figure it out when I got shortness of breath like I was suffocating.  Then figured it out it was the potatoes.  They don't really taste good anyways. Get the white yams and cherry red 🍠 yams as a sub they taste way better. It's a cross reaction! Google foods that cross react with celiacs.  Not all of them you will cross react too. My reactions now unfortunately manifest in my chest and closes everything up . Life sucks then we die. Stay hopeful and look and see different companies that work for you . Lentils from kroger work for me raw in the bag and says nothing about gluten free but it works for me just rinse wellllll.....don't get discouraged and stay hopeful and don't pee off god

Hi Lily Ivy. Thanks for responding. Did you have withdrawal? If so, what was it like and for how long?
    • trents
Welcome to the forum, @Doris Barnes! You do realize don't you that the "gluten free" label does not mean the same thing as "free of gluten"? According to FDA regulations, using the "gluten free" label simply means the product does not contain gluten in excess of 20 ppm. "Certified Gluten Free" is labeling deployed by an independent testing group known as GFCO which means the product does not contain gluten in excess of 10 ppm. Either concentration of gluten can still cause a reaction in folks who fall into the more sensitive spectrum of the celiac community. 20 ppm is safe for most celiacs. Without knowing how sensitive you are to small amounts of gluten, I cannot speak to whether or not the Hu Kitechen chocolates are safe for you. But it sounds like they have taken sufficient precautions at their factory to ensure that this product will be safe for the large majority of celiacs.

Buying choclate, I recently boght a bar from Hu Kitchen (on your list of recommended candy. It says it is free of gluten. However on the same package in small print it says "please be aware that the product is produced using equipment that also processes nuts, soy, milk and wheat. Allergen cleans are made prior to production". So my question is can I trust that there is no cross contamination.  If the allergy clean is not done carefully it could cause gluten exposure. Does anyone know of a choclate brand that is made at a facility that does not also use wheat, a gluten free facility. Thank you.
