Headache update . . . Headaches are MUCH better. Perhaps twas rebound headaches after all . . . or the antibiotic is finally working. I don't suppose there is any way to tell. My neck has been sore/stiff though . . . mostly on the same side that I had the more significant eyeball pain (which is also MUCH better, especially today). Is there some lymph nodes back there or sumptin? Doesn't "feel" swollen or different. Always something.

Hmmmm....good question. I am constantly battling neck pain. Specifically in one place on my right side.......never goes away.

Glad to hear you're feeling better. :)

Jyaghnutt's feelin' better, and her bra is on! (Um, I assume..... ...).. . Excellent. . . ...!!

All right, a little Sunday morning humour. ....... . ...

An exhausted nurse, fresh off an 18-hour shift, staggers into a bank one morning to cash her paycheque. Standing in front of the teller, she reaches into her bag for a pen and, in her fatigued state, instead brings out her rectal thermometRE. She tries to write, looks at the startled teller's face and then what is in her hand, shakes her head and says, "Oh, gawd....... . ..some a$$hole's got my PEN!!"

Some things I forgot to respond to earlier.....

What about the sign for anal sex? My dirty minded co-worker and I want to know...

Make the universal sign for OK with your left hand if you are right handed (thumb and index together, other fingers apart) Put your index finger of the other hand through the "hole", moving it in and out.

.....and by the way, this is only used for male/female activity. ;)

My computer class has people signing. After watching the woman sign "kick ass" I decided to email the instructor and suggest he come up with fun phrases for the interpreters to interpret.

There's an absolutely hysterical piece from NPR's wait wait don't tell me wherein the cast sees how funny the ASL version of "crap a pineapple" is and contrive to come up with more amusing things for the person to sign.

I want to know the "kick ass" sign! The "crap a pineapple" sounds familiar.....hmmmm.......have you mentioned it before?

Anyone else getting the same ad in the left hand panel....

gluten free cheese crisps

The crisp made entirely from cheese

hold me

I know!!!!!Yum!

Someone posted a recipe for something like that a while ago. I printed it at work....prints in a different room.... but the printer didn't work. By the time I realized it, I couldn't find the recipe again

Hey Gian-knit!!!!! Was that you runnin around without yer clothes???? :o

Neck was feeling almost all better yesterday . . . and a cough was picking up steam. I'm thinking now that this thing is just an extra slow moving virus.

. . . in other news. I think I may have found what Skeeter is reacting to. I don't think it's gluten - the label is pretty well written but I'm verifying with the company (by email) as we speak. I switched her to a different shampoo with tea tree oil when she brought the lice home (supposedly lice don't like tea tree oil). She uses it once a week. The new (over the counter) acid reflux med has been doing wonders bringing everything under control. However, last night was tea tree oil shampoo night and shortly after washing her hair, she started regurgitating. She hadn't had any regurgitation in a couple of days and she was feeling right as rain right before her bath. Anyway, reguardless of what the company says, we won't use it anymore.

Sounds like you've figgered it out, Jyaghnutt! Well done! I don't know much about tee tree oil, but it certainly is a powerful plant and it would make perfect sense for the stuff to cause sensitivity/allergic reactions. . . ....

i am actually going to the bank this afternoon and dealing with a teller - -who in hell does this anymore? Canna remember the last time I walked past the ATM and into the bank to talk to a human.

Jeez.. . . ..what will I pull outta my purse to use as a pen??

I can't remember when I last used an ATM. I deal in person with the bank all the time, making cash deposits from the business.

Hey everybody! I have been away much too long! No attempt has been made to catch up and read the last...who knows how many pages. The whole sight looks so different I wasn't sure I was in the right place!

Hope everyone is doing all right. I'm still wasting way too much time on FB and farming. Fun way to waste time, tho, and easy to keep in touch with my sisters (and other family) that way.

Today my heart is very sad, scared, lonely for my family. My Dad suddenly developed severe back pain, then could not move/feel his legs. The local hospital sent him to another hospital hours away (from upstate NY to Burlington Vermont). They discovered a blood clot in his spine that was compressing the nerves. Apparently it's been there long enough to cause some permanent damage. Time will tell how much...but he may never walk again. I have to tell you that this 84 year old still bales hay, cuts his own firewood...is so active and stronger than most men of any age that I know. They operated, removed the clot and some of a vertebra. He got through the surgery fine...but it's a long road ahead.

I knew I could tell you all about it and that you'd understand. Any of you who pray...please include my Dad, and the family. Thanks for being here and being such a wonderful group. I promise to keep more in touch.

T! Difficult times :(

Thinking of you & yours :-)

Ghianne-itte, hope you've got it phigured for Skeeter....... I tell ya, it's like being a detective trying to work out what makes our cOeliacs ill!!

We sooo would make great detectives....... do we get a mac 'Columbo' style?

EMUHLEIGH!!!!

They have real LIVE peeps at the bank?!?!

Be carephool in there Em!!!

Yeah . . . I really don't think there is gluten in the shampoo/conditioner. Actually, I was kind of hoping there was and then problem solved . . . but I do know you shouldn't ingest tea tree oil and it's hard to say if she is or not. She's in charge of her own baths/showers now. But the timing of everything yesterday was enlightening.

Had my meeting at school this morning. I am happy to say that nobody is pushing ADHD anymore . . . I really thought this was the route the school was going to take even though the screenings did not indicated it was an issue. They have started the process for getting Smackl an IEP for a "specific learning disability in the form of written expression". A lot of the current accomodations will remain the same, but he will now get extra time during testing. A lot of what they are doing now is for the most part voluntary by this school. I have no doubt that come next year, it wouldn't be any problem getting the same accomodations from the 5th grade teacher. However, come middle school, all bets are off and the IEP will legally require them to accomadate his disability. In the mean time, we all work on getting him up to speed on typing. (Can't remember if I mentioned that . . . he's slow at typing, quantity of work is better but still low ('cause he's so slow?), but his quality of work is significantly higher.)

orange jug of pee?

Come on now Jan-it.....a classy lady like Em going into the bank would have her pee tucked away safely in a margarine tub ;)

With the exception of closing accounts/changing addresses/opening new ones here, I never really go into the bank anymore either. I actually do all my banking on-line now. The bank we have down here makes that very easy. :)which is good since I confuse easily.....

Jan-it, I've reacted (with no doubt) to shampoos that stated no gluten and listed no gluten. The only thing I can think of is the fragrance. There's a chance it could be hiding in that. Glad you figured it out and Skeet is feeling better.

Sounds good for The Smackster--I'll bet by middle school he's all the way up to speed. :D

Your friend is right- if the school admits something is wrong and they don't have the services they have to pay for support so they try to weasle out of these things (unless it's obvious that the student is failing across the board.

Keep us posted.

Janet, hang in there!

Ditto all Dr. Bev said.

We had to fight tooth and nail to get Jason help

hired outside testing and the best $ we ever spent

you have to be your childs advocate 24/7

he's 35 now and I'm sure the schools are really trying to ignore these issues as they sure don't want to spend the $$$$

keep us posted

I'll be reading to see how the meeting goes

Jason had dyslexia and ADD but not he :H: hyper part

hugs

Judy

Now after this poem, Patti's profession

She's not a hooker,

She's not a ho.

She's a Texan

Ain't that always the way! OK- I'll try to post more. Hmmm....I don't think I've been royalty in 2000 pages! Did y'all notice that this thread has had 1,034,451 Views

? Now THAT is scary laugh.gif

Me and Angus want to come over for a walk! Ok- for the Queen I shall write a poem

Ode to Texas

They call it the land

of ten gallon hats

the Bush family, big personailties

and foods full of fat.

But our dearest Patti has told us

the truth,

The weather it seems

Is criticism proof.

She's walking the streets

In her two piece bikini

And getting a tan

In the middle of January

Now that sounds like a plan!

The psillies are heading to

TEX-ASS toot sweet

To join our Patti

as she cruises the streets

Now after this poem, Patti's profession

you may wonder

She's not a hooker,

She's not a ho.

She's a Texan

And she ain't got no snow! tongue.gif

Good Morning, Jooooodie!

It's true, you haven't been around since the board format changed. Do you recognize the new shade of blue in the background?? Can you think of where you have seen it, exactly, elsewhere?? See, this dress I was wearing in my. . ...oh, just go back about twenty pages.... ...

Waiting to hear the report on Smackl, Jyaghnutt! We had The Ripper pschologically/intellectually evaluated when he was in grade four, and as Joooodie has said it was very valuable. Soaringly gifted in a few areas, average in a couple, and frighteningly weak in one big area - - acquiring information from written text. We were given the token IEP and strategies to address and build on his weakness. He is fine, now. He had big bullying issues happening concurrently, however....who knows how much that was affecting things... .. .:(

Didja miss this one, Em . . . or were you looking for additional info? The IEP is on it's way. There was concern that his grades aren't "bad enough" and how that was going to be addressed so that the review board will pass it. (Smackl's getting decent grades because hubby and I spend 1 to 2 hours every night working with him, reviewing and having him correct all his homework, plus his teacher lets him use the computer for creative writing at school.)

I still plan on pursuing outside testing to get a clearer picture of how his brain works. Just need to research a few places.

The IEP was a good thing for Jack, and the best that the public system can offer for these out-of-the-"ordinary" kids. He has been at a Montessori school since the relentless bullying -- we just had to pull him out of that school and find somewhere else for him to learn. The Montessori system automatically gives every single child their own learning program - - they are carefully assessed, and they are taught accordingly, at their own speed and often in a self-directed way. Jack would be in grade eight in the public system, but at his school now he is doing grade eleven math and language, and is with the grade eights for geography, gym, art... ... . .....it's very tailored, and the way I believe education should happen.

But the public schools at least have IEPs and IPRC's - - a good thing.

If you find yourselves frustrated and unsatisfied after Smakl is assessed and his help is in place, you may want to consider the Montessori system. They have a sliding scale for yearly tuition, as the philosophy is that every child should have access to this great method of education. I know for sure that had I been taught math the Montessori way when I was in school, I would never have struggled with it. Food fer thought. . . . . ........ .:)
