Does Merely Touching Bread Make You Itchy?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I recently found out that I have DH, and have been off gluten for over a month. The DH is pretty much gone, and my stomach is feeling great, too! (I didn't realize how completely bloated I had been!)

I'm not sure if this is in my head, but whenever I touch bread (for my family), I start getting itchy - and it's almost like I ate the wheat. Is this typical?

Thank you,

Shawn

In addition to Celiac, I have a topical allergy to wheat. So if I touch wheat, I get itchy rash. I'm still not sure if its actually related to Celiac or DH. This might be the case for you as well.

I helped with a 7 year olds birthday party this summer. Dipping ice cream, serving that and cake and other snacks, touching and hugging and I started having severe itching. Couldn't wait to get it all off me in the shower. :o
