Well Guhlia,

I had pancakes with blackberry jam for DINNER and all because of that avatar of yours!

Were they good? :D

Jestgar Rising Star

They were fabulous. I would have had them again for breakfast only that getting-to-work-on-time thing got in the way.

If I ever get a waffle maker - those are next.

If you get a waffle maker, make sure you get a decent one. Some of the ultra-cheapies don't cook the waffles evenly. I got a GE and I love mine. It was relatively inexpensive at about $18. I make a huge batch of waffles on the weekend and then freeze them so I can have quick breakfasts during the week. It's definitely worthwhile for us because my daughter generally wakes up starving.

As far as cravings go... Today I am majorly craving pickels. I think I am likely going to sit here and eat the whole jar in one sitting. Blech. I just can't stop myself. Thank God I only bought one jar!

Ooohhh... And fruit and cream waffles and bagels with cream cheese. Can't seem to get enough of either of them.

You mean those in Angie's avatar?? OMG I am going to make those......

M&Ms

In Australia M&Ms have wheat starch :(

Put some money in my paypal account and I'll send them to you. ;)

Nachos or Buffalo Wild Wings...

or Skyline Chili

or Lil Smokies...

we can eat Lil Smokies??? but don't they have MSG?

Okay: binges and cravings? Trader Joe's Rice Pudding - - holy cow. I eat a whole container at one sitting  once or twice a week. And, their Spicy Soy Flax Seed corn tortilla chips. Half a bag at a time. But having a prob w/ flax, so had to cut down. :(

Angel food cake is delicious with whip cream and crushed pinapple mixed in it and used as a frosting.

Also, if you are having people over, angel food caked diced in bite size portions, then a bowl of strawberries and whip cream to spoon over it :P Yum!

You are all comming up with some GREAT craving foods............nice!

I had to cave in and go buy my rice pudding to go with my peanutbutter chocolate chip cookies. I'm home sick today :( I had to go buy 7-up so I figured why not lol Nothing else sounds good to eat anyways.........darn sinus infections.

On the subject of little smokies and the msg questions. MSG isn't a problem in terms of gluten. It is gluten free, however many people avoid it for other reasons. Hillshire farms little smokies are great and gluten free. AWESOME when put into the crock pot with a bottle of sweet baby ray's bbq sauce mmm

After bronco's suggestion of the chili and somebody elses nacho craving. I am now craving chili cheese tater tots. Make the tater tots or fries......top with chili and then cheese mmmmm Geesh people!

Bacon

And my favorite breakfast--sliced banana, fresh blueberries, sliced almonds, cinnamon and pure maple syrup drizzled over the top. So good....

I have to agree about Angie's waffles--those look fantastic! Soon as I can, I'm trying them.

I do the same thing when I eat at Picazzos in Tempe. I literally call people to tell them I am eating "pizza that tastes like pizza".

 I don't call people, but last time I was at Beau Jo's in Colorado I made my friend take a picture of me, so I would have evidence that I ate real pizza from a real pizza place

Sometimes when I eat gluten free stuff that looks and tastes like the real stuff I feel like I'm cheating and have to fight feeling guilty. Also I'll have dreams that I'm eating bread or cookies and wake up horrified. lol

I could go for a chile dog. I'd probably have three and be thirsty all night.

Breyers ice cream --- "Take Two" variety with orange sherbet and vanilla ice cream ---- AND the Peanut Butter Tracks flavor. (Edited to emphasize: NOT TOGETHER IN THE SAME BOWL - ICK!)

Granny smith apples and grapes with slices of cheddar cheese (a nice glass of white wine makes it even better!)

glutino pretzels - I believe I'm heavily addicted.

Tinkyada with butter and grated parmesan (not too healthy, but Yum!)

Yoplait French Vanilla or White Chocolate Raspberry Yogurt

Gee, guess I'm hungry

I crave nachos with cheddar cheese. Mmmmm. It may be gluten-free, but I still can't have it because of the cheese.

The other day I was craving nachos like crazy, so I got some tostitos, all the stuff to make chili and some cheese and made myself some awesome nachos!

Cupakes!!! Right now I am craving namaste chocolate cake mix with Pillsbury vanilla frosting.

Mmmm Chili with tons of cheese sounds awesome today. It has been snowing most of the day and it's soooo cold. Maybe tomorrow I will make chili to warm me up!! Good idea.

AMC movie nachos are gluten-free, made by Frito-Lay. Sometimes I will pick an AMC to go to, then the movie, just cause I want movie nachos.

to let them know I was eating a pretzel.

Please tell me I am not the only person that will go into a movie theatre just to get popcorn and not actually go to a movie?!!!!

That sounds good!

I'm still craving nachos and now I'm craving pudding. I was a chipaholic so I crave chips as well, especially all dressed and ketchup.

Take it easy! I was just prompting you for some clarification.  In the distillation process, the liquid is boiled and the vapor descends up a tube and condenses into another container as it cools. What people are saying is that the gluten molecules are too large and heavy to travel up with the vapor and so get left behind in the original liquid solution. Therefore, the condensate should be free of gluten, no matter if there was gluten in the original solution. The explanation contained in the second sentence I quoted from your post would not seem to square with the physics of the distillation process. Unless, that is, I misunderstood what you were trying to explain.

No they do not contradict each other. Just like frying oil can be cross contaminated even though the oil doesn't contain the luten protein. The same is the same for a distilled vinegar or spirit which originally came from a gluten source. Just because you don't understand, doesn't mean you can tell me that my sentences contradict each other. Do you have a PhD in biochemistry or friends that do and access to a lab?  If not, saying you don't understand is one thing anything else can be dangerous to others.

The reason that it triggers your dermatitis herpetiformis but not your celiac disease is because you aren't completely intolerant to gluten. The celiac and dermatitis herpetiformis genes are both on the same chronometer. Dermatitis herpetoformus reacts to gluten even if there's a small amount of cross contamination while celiac gene may be able to tolerate a some gluten or cross contamination. It just depends on the sensitivity of the gene.

@Mynx, you say, "The reason this is believed is because the gluten protein molecule is too big to pass through the distillation process. Unfortunately, the liquid ie vinegar is cross contaminated because the gluten protein had been in the liquid prior to distillation process." I guess I misunderstand what you are trying to say but the statements in those two sentences seem to contradict one another.
    • Mynx
It isn't a conjecture. I have gotten glitened from having some distilled white vinegar as a test. When I talked to some of my scientists friends, they confirmed that for a mall percentage of people, distilled white vinegar is a problem. The cross contamination isn't from wheat glue in a cask. While yhe gluten protein is too large to pass through the distillation process, after the distillation process, the vinegar is still cross contaminated. Please don't dismiss or disregard the small group of people who are 100^ gluten intolerant by saying things are conjecture. Just because you haven't done thr research or aren't as sensitive to gluten doesn't mean that everyone is like you.
