HI, My daughter came home from school again today with a tummy ache..........hubby went and got her and brought her home. I was out. Anyway, what does one do? I have her some pink stuff (Meijer brand of stomach relief) and then in 20 minutes she was fine and up and playing again. GRRRR

I am going to assume the school has a nurse's office. Complete whatever forms the school requires so they can give your daughter the "pink stuff" that you provide at school. You should also give instructions on how long to wait until they call you.

In our school district the doctor has to complete an offical school form and the parents have to complete an additional form for prescription and non-prescription meds.

I did had to go through this process so my son could have asthma medicine kept in the nurse's office and administered.

i was under the impression that some of the "pink stuff" was NOT gluten-free? is that true? anyone?

As a former teacher (now a SAHM) I'd recommend looking into a 504 plan for you daughter.

This way you can tell the school how they should properly deal with things in guidelines that you feel are appropriate :) You can include things like giving the school nurse permission to administer "the pinks stuff" etc.

Also you may want to talk with your daughter, her upset stomach could be due to nerves or something thats happening with the other kids that the teachers and you may not be aware of! My sister and I both get celiac type symptoms when we are nervous (sometimes lasting for a day other times for a minutes or hours) If there is something going on I'd have a conference with her teacher to get it settled!

Hope that helps!

@Spacepanther, I found these articles about the connection between Celiac and joint pain. Musculoskeletal Complications of Celiac Disease: A Case-Based Review https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10201087/ And   Intestinal microbiome composition and its relation to joint pain and inflammation https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6814863/ And The gut microbiome-joint connection: implications in osteoarthritis https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6903327/ Sounds like it's time to change the diet to change the microbiome.

@Shireen32,  Take some deep breaths.  Your labs are fine!  Your tTg IgA is so low!  Well done!  Your endomysial IgA is fine.  There's not a level on the endomysial test.  It's just "yes or no" for if you have celiac disease.   No, it's too early to call it refractory. What are you eating?  Please tell us more than meat and veg. Do you consume dairy? Do you consume processed gluten free foods?   Are you taking any prescription medications, herbal supplements, vitamins and minerals?

thank you knitty kitty I don't have a vitamin deficiency and I supplement omegas.  Are there other more mild symptoms that co-occur with your joint pain as well @Moodiefoodie? I am suspicious my own joint pain could be related to another autoimmune issue. I am wondering if it is Crohn's or something similar because I've continued to experience some issues despite having normal celiac antibody levels. What have you considered?

Yes, it could be. Anti histamines help with the symptoms but I don't really like to take them long term.
