I Wish Enterolab Would Hurry Up! News From My Doctor-

Recommended Posts

I want information!

Here's the story, I've posted bits and pieces before.

I've had stomach/GI issues for going on 12 years. Mostly Diarrhea and loose floaty, smelly, stools. Some cramping, lot's of gas. I've also had issues with periodic insomnia. I was pescatarian/vegetarian/vegan for various portions of that time period, and always a bit overweight. (not huge, and fairly athletic, but always big and struggled to control my weight.)

Anyway, after lapsing into eating meat in September, I decided to try the South Beach diet to control my weight. during phase 1, my GI issues got far better, and I felt pretty good. I started doing some research, and began to suspect Celiac. Went on a gluten "lite" diet sometime in november, felt somewhat better, but far from fixed. In december, got a little stricter, and since Christmas have been trying really hard, but still having issues. I feel better, but far from 100%.

I "failed" the blood test. I had a colonoscopy/endoscopy and this is the email I got from my Dr.

Dear Geoffrey,

your upper endoscopy showed erosive antral gastritis (no ulcers). We can treat this with medication to decrease the acidity in your stomach where this is seen. Schedule an appt. to discuss this further. Your duodenal biopsies were normal (no evidence of celiac disease) according to the records we obtained from the specialist. Your colonoscopy was normal.

I've sent in my sample for Enterolab testing, but haven't got the results. Is it possible I have something else? I mean, if it's gastritis, not related to gluten/celiacs, is it possible I'd feel better due to the types of foods I am eating, rather than those I'm not? Or even feel better due to the foods I'm not eating, without it being celiacs?

Or did they just miss celiacs? Or my Gluten lite diet hid it? I know this board doesn't seem to trust Dr's much, but is it possible they are right, and there is something else going on?

I wish my enterolab results would show up.

Oh, I also have fairly severe issues with my hands and feet going numb/tingly/painful for no apparent reason.
