Gluten Free In Philly

Recommended Posts

I am looking for the names of some gluten free friendly restaurants in Philly. I will be there on Sunday for the Franklin Institutes display of King Tut. We are going to be there around 1ish and would like to have a gluten free place to have an early dinner. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...

 Isis is the Egyptian God of Domestic Tranquility. We have have a statue of Isis. Last night he reached over it to turn out a light and he knocked it over and it broke. So much for the domestic tranquility for now!!!

It's kind of late information if you're headed to Philly on Sunday, but I ate at Sazon, tonight. It's on SpringGarden Street - kind of sketchy neighborhood, but cute BYOB resturant. We were there around 5pm, and had the place to ourselves. Helpful staff too!

It's a Venezualan (sp?) restaurant they have empanadas and arepas which are made out of corn!! Says wheat free on the menu! My sister and I tried two different arepas, which were yummy! If you're with adventurous eaters I would recommend it.

Great flan for dessert, too. Today they had coconut flavor, chocolate flavor, and pumpkin flavor (which tasted just like pumpkin pie!)

Under $30 for our two sandwiches, a side of plaintains, a shared dessert and drinks - and I'm still full many hours later!

Have a great time at the musuem. I heard the exhibit is awesome!

Hope I'm not too late either, but El Vez is very gluten-free friendly (and YUMMY!). Just last night we went to the Mexican Post in Fairmount Park. They were so nice and accommodating. We brought our own bag of Tostitos to enjoy our own dish of salsa and guacamole (daughter and I are gluten-free) and they were so nice about finding out what we could have and substituting corn tortilla for flour.

Have fun! I LOVE Philly!!
