Hi - Newbie Here

Recommended Posts

Hi, my name is Heidi and I am new here but old everywhere else. :-)

I have been reading this board for a few weeks but only took the plunge to create my user account today. I am going to be chiming in on a few topics , and also asking some questions, but I thought first i'd do a formal introduction.

Heidi , age 44 , stay-home-mom , NYC, non-celiac, vegetarian, triathlete, coach. Mom to 2 boys age 6 and 8.

My husband was DX'd in 1999 by endoscopy. He was 120 lbs at 6' 2". Yeah, they found some damage there.

We had bloods done of our children - negative.

Did not reach out to celiac community because we had so much going on with our (at the time) babies, DH basically just had to suck it up and figure it out with the gluten.

So now our 6 yo has been showing symptoms and that's why I'm here. More on that on another thread.

I am a slow learner in regard to message board forums - it is really important to me to be able to communicate with celiac families so I am doing my best to get used to this. If anyone has any suggestion for me, if there would be a better place to post, that sort of thing - please do not hesitate to let me know. Do most people stay strictly on topic on each forum? For example, i have to do my intro, talk about testing, and discuss how one sets up/manages a celiac home with kids -- is that 3 separate boards?

Thanks for reading. Esp want to thank Celiac girls, Brooklyn, and some others whose names I have to look up, for sharing your info I have learned a lot reading your posts.

Welcome. This is a great place for support. Don't worry. You've already got it figured out. I just jumped in and figured it out as I went along. Yes it sounds like your questions belong in 3 different places but as is the nature of conversation, topics veer of into other areas sometimes. Having an organizational system helps when one is doing a search through current or past posts for info. and this is a pretty large forum!

welcome! the search option is a great one! i always use it when I have a question, because lots of questions get repeated here. not that we're not happy to answer, but you can get lots of instant results by searching. i always go to the search options and click on "most relevant" :)

lots of great recipes here! and parents w/ celiac kids! make yourself at home :D
