Headaches, Stomach Aches, Generally Feeling Bad?

Recommended Posts

My younger daughter and I both have issues with gluten if not full blown Celiac disease.

We eat gluten-free at home, but I let my older DD have prepackaged gluten snacks in her lunches (crackers, cookies, cereal bars, and bought lunches on occasion).

For the last month she's complained of headaches and sore belly.

Do you think an intermittent low dose of gluten could cause that in an undiagnosed child?

Sounds like it to me. She should feel better if you cut out all wheat/gluten products. There are gluten free alternatives to most of these foods. Maybe she would eat fruit.

Besides gluten, I know a lot of people get headaches and migraines from MSG. That stuff is hidden in all sorts of prepackaged items. Here's some good info on the subject: Truth In Labeling. I think sugar can also contribute to problems like what you describe. Intestinal yeast overgrowth (candida) can be a real nasty one.
